Get the Camp Creek from TOPS if you want S35VN. This is a great EDC blade, this is practically a concealed carry knife. In regards to value for TOPS, getting really tired of comments on how expensive they are when people will spend $400 on a locking pocket knife in some ridiculous super steel with milled titanium scales because they don’t know how to sharpen a blade and only use it to open Amazon boxes.
Thanks Tim, great review. I got mine two weeks ago for $145. Very pleased. I prefer 1095 (Tops, Esse) myself. I use knives so I care for them. I don't mind sharpening them. I get meditative satisfaction from it. I use knives to cut stuff and a striker on my ferro rod.
I own a lot of Tops knives and I can say with utmost assurance that the 1095 and heat treat they use is top notch. I highly recommend the Silent Hero 4 for a great edc and woodcraft, food prep, and small survival knife! Good vid Tim!
We all decide what knives we are going to carry from day to day or if we carry a knife at all. There aren’t to many people that decide to put themselves into a survival situation, they might practice for the eventuality. Who carries a six or seven inch bladed fixed blade every time they get off the beaten track? Survival situations don’t wait until you have the right knife on you, so I’d suggest people might need to think about practicing for the worst and hoping for the best. A two inch knife is better than none at all.
I bought mine 4 months ago and I love it. It's my favorite now. Just like you, I'm not too enthused with scout carry either, so I do front pants pocket carry and it's perfect.
I have two of the original Silent Hero knives - not just to support the anti-poaching units, but because it is a good kniife. I received my Silent Hero 4 a few weeks ago from the Knife Connection and is a really nice EDC/backup knife. And yes, I am looking for a custom kydex sheath.
The 4" category of knives from TOPS are sometimes overlooked, but this one is definitely a winner. I have got used to my CUT 4.0, but this can be a very good alternative for even urban EDC, wherever legal.
I definitely like it. It's the kind of knife I'd take on a John Muir Trail type of hike. It's big enough to do some big knife stuff, but not too big and unwieldy for smaller tasks.
Hello 👋 Tim, greetings from dry, parched Northern California. Thank you for sharing this great review of the Tops Silent Hero knife 🔪. I like it and will consider purchasing it. The best to you and your family 👪 for your good health and safety. Please keep up your good work. 👍 🤗
I have the first Silent Hero and I do like it. I do not care for the leather sheath as 1095 steel does better in kydex, I believe. I really like this new knife and the scout carry. There are none available in my neck of the woods yet.
Thanks for the review Tim. I like this knife a lot, but probably not enough to pay $200 for it. I have several Tops and a few ESEES. 1095 steel I like.
several times it has stopped me from buying one of their knives. I make knives myself and my steel choice is 1095 because it is cheap but versatile. TOPS is making a lot of profit from inexpensive steel.
It’s understood that the heat treatment, in many ways is more important than whatever exotic/expensive grade of steel is used. Buck has been proving that forever. However, Buck generally keeps that price down, regardless of any given steel they use. Picked up a GCK spear point in, Boss treated 5160 HC for under 100 bucks! Unreal! Tops would have charged 300 for that same thing!

Another good review. One thing that I'd add is either have a knife with a 90 degree spine or carry a striker. Never sacrifice the edge of your knife.

I enjoy your knife reviews. They are honest and fair.

That would be an awesome kitchen knife. I already have a Condor Moonshiner in the kitchen but I could always use another cool knife 👍
Really enjoy mine. I can definitely recommend it. Paired with a decent multi tool, you’ll be good to go!
Great review haven't seen you that excited about a knife for a while.

Always a great video
Thanks guys.

It turns heads it got my attention.
Good looking knife you put it through some paces but will it strike a Ferro rod? Thx Tim
At that price it should be CPM Steel . Tops pricing on 1095 is getting laughable at this point .

And they don't even have a warranty like esee, if they did then I'd understand the price
Tops is the McDonald's of knife companies.

great vid. 1095 for the win.
Would like to see TOPs offer this in 3v or s35vn.
Me too, but I don't think they will.
have u actually used 1095??
Tops needs to hire someone with a basic understanding of ergonomics and average hand size to design their handles.
nice little blade!
The pronunciation of this South African surname would be like Doo plee see.
