- The original purpose behind the Silent Hero knife was to provide a mid-large sized tool to be used by a specialized interdiction unit that was combating rhino poachers in Africa. It is an excellent design and has served many people on multiple continents. Over time, Anton (the designer) realized that he didn’t always need such a large knife strapped to his hip.
This is where the Silent Hero 4 was born. The handle and blade shape of the full-sized knife were perfect for a variety of tasks. By shrinking them down, you end up with a knife that is much more easily carried as an EDC, but still long enough to handle the vast majority of cutting tasks. While the look of this smaller version is basically there same, there are a few differences. The blade is a bit thinner (1/8” instead of 3/16”). The finish is a Sniper Gray Cerakote (instead of Black River Wash). And it comes with a Kydex sheath instead of leather. So, whether you’re looking for a companion blade for your Silent Hero, or just prefer a blade length around 4” instead of 6”, this new Silent Hero 4 will be an excellent addition to your collection

I got the original Silent Hero & Askari back in 2014. They are both great knives & great for the African bush.
I love my Silent Hero. I had a problem with the coating also. I hadn’t really used it but it started peeling off and rust appearing. Tops offered to fix it under warranty straight away which impressed me. I decided posting it to the US was too much hassle so I stripped it and did a vinegar patina. It now looks awesome, it’s got a really nice battle worn look now. and I’ve had no rust issues since, maybe 1095 likes to breath. I’m going to have to get it a baby brother now
I almost think stripping it looks better than the coating. I love that worn metal look.
@@MDR-hn2yz it does there’s blacks, greys, orangey and yellowish colours. I almost hope the ceracote coating fails on the SH4 when I get one 😁.

Videos and pictures do not do this knife justice. The finish on mine is like gun bluing - not that rough paint-like stuff I have seen on other knives. And, the balance in the hand is perfect. It was way above what I was expecting when I ordered it - an amazing value!
I dig the handle much more on this one than the Silent Hero as someone with XL hands.

I had to hunt around to find one, but I’ve been carrying it about 4 weeks. Seems great so far. The sheath is a little wide, since it’s a wide blade, but other than that, no complaints. It will be interesting to see how the cerekote holds up long term in more humid areas, exposed to sweaty bodies.

It's a really good blade bro, and I carry mine daily, and knives this size has so many daily uses it's insane lol self defense and beyond but it does have it's limits and that's chopping but the rest it can handle trust me lol----- 💪💪
