  • Finally back out on the search for Todmorden's past and present pubs. Our 4th wander takes in pubs that once were, or are, on the hilltops including Mankinholes, Lumbutts, Bacup Road, Cloughfoot and Sourhall.
Our Fifth and final pub hunt will take in the many locations on Rochdale Road, coming soon.
How many of the pubs on this video do you know, remember or even visited?
Sorry for occasionally bad sound quality issues caused by howling winds!

Goodness me, so glad I stumbled over this. I used to live in the house next door to the Top Brink and worked behind the bar at the Shepherd's Rest. That was back in the 1960s, so it's good to see they're both still going.

Landscape 👍🏼 A fluffy mic cover to cut down the wind noise might also be good.

Had my first pint in the Mason's Arms with my pals John Abraham and David Mullins around 1959 1960 all of us under 18, I think it was Ramsden's Best Mild about 1/3p per pint that bought 16 pints!! RIP John and Posser and sorry to see the Mason's gone the way of many good pubs.

I think the Masons only closed before Covid. It very quickly became apartments as it looked like an abandoned pub a few months ago. Shane, as once they are gone, they won't come back

My dad taught me to drive on that carpark up Sourhall (before I had some proper lessons).

Ah, of course. I believed it was part of the story with the girl who said she'd marry one of the Fieldens who built her a castle. One built Dobroyd, the other this. Yeah, I know it's a story 😉

Great! Which river is that one you’re by? I didn’t know Todmorden was big and there was a mason building, by the way, you both are making a good team, keep going Mat
