  • 3 months after our first video looking at Todmorden Pubs in the Town Centre, we reach our final video on this series looking at Pubs past and present on Rochdale Road.
This particular stretch seemed to at one time be a mixture of Pubs and beer houses, many doing brisk trade during the buildings of both the canal and the railway through the valley. But what remains today in the 21st century?
Thanks as always for watching and your comments, and do let me know which Pubs you remember in the area.

If my memory is correct was there a pub called the RAKE in the centre of todmorden, ? the landlord was called JIM GORSE ? In 1968 approx I used to date his daughter PAULINE, she was so beutifull, happy days.

Not sure about Tod, but there was a Rake near Littleborough? Good days indeed 😊

Hi guys, thanks, in tracing my families history it brought me to Todmorden. I really am looking forward to visiting, I believe my family built Scaitscliff Hall. Crossleigh Crossley? American Crosley's date to the early 1600's

Hi Steven. There's a video on my channel for Scaitcliffe Hall from a year or two back....unfortunately,the condition of it now may shock you, so that's just my warning. However. Todmorden is beautiful, so I hope you still enjoy your time here when you visit.

The Bird, ith hand was known as a good after time pub in the 70s, when pubs shut at 10.30. If you got in before last orders there was a good chance you could stay till maybe 1 or 2am, we used to go over from Littleborough with that in mind. Maybe because it was on the Lancshire/Yorkshire border the police left it alone, im now comin up to 70 but i still have many fond memories of many hours spent in there with my mates.

You joined Hollins rd after the pub. It was in the opposite direction to which you walked.

I missed it? I right.....I think I know which one it is now. Across the road at the end (towards Walsden?)

@@matparks08 inflatable kayaks , we set of from sowerby bridge and went as far as the summit lock , we camped on the grass at locks , leave no trace wild camping of course , did the same on the Leeds Liverpool canal from kirkstall to Gargrave .
