When I came to Walmart, I had a choice to pick my start day. The offering was a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday start. 2 years later, I got on a 6/3 (six on 3 off). I did that for a year. Then somehow I scored a M-F shift after a realignment offering. I do like this shift although if my DC offers a 5/2-5/3 in their next realignment, I’ll be putting my name down for that choice. I really appreciate that Walmart Transportation gives us a chance to pick a different work schedule if we want. New drivers here at Walmart, bide your time. I did, you can do the same thing.
Yes definitely worth waiting around for a few years to get settled into exactly where you want to be. Also it was the same for me when I came here I was able to choose my start date and my first load of the week but a lot has changed since then.
I really appreciate the info. I start onboarding on Monday in Delaware. Im an old head like you, almost 30 years experience... and still excited about a new trucking job. Lol
Right on! Did you use anybody for a referral? If not you can still put my name in there if you want. All my info is in the description. Either way I'm here to help if you have any questions. Good luck!
@@20plustrucking I did use a referral. Pretty excited, today is my last day at my current employer. I've been here since April 2020, but 7 years total. I left for a few years when I bought my own trucks.
@@Wilnip Right on! That's cool I was just checking to see if you used me as a referral cuz I try to keep track of these things. But it makes no difference to me I'm here to help if you have any questions. Good luck!
I failed onboarding process about 3 months ago, failed the pretrip, now I know i will pass 99.9%, so i applied last week, hopefully i get 1 more chance!
No doubt that's the way to do it don't give up. Most people just try once and don't come back even though a lot of times the onboarding people will tell you reapply and try again later.
What part did you fail?
@@Ed_dogg I failed the pretrip, backing was outstanding, also I was going 6 miles under the posted speed limit.
Failed pre trip inspection and I Failed the driving, going 6 miles under the posted speed limit. Now I am 100% ready to finally pass!
@@DaveRN51 sounds like you got it this time.
Thank you
@@cassiuszzzzzz2638 You're welcome!
Great video thanks for the info.
You're welcome.
I am currently applied for the associate to driver program. 🤞
Right on! You can't beat that at all. If you think about it you're skipping ahead 2 and 1/2 years right out the gate to one of the best jobs out here as far as trucking goes.
Go to any WMT of any town. You’ll find…
1.Stores are dirty
2. Shelves are blown out
3. No cashier (All shelf checkout.
$14 a hour. WMT openly said. “WE ARE ALL REPLACEABLE”.
Yet the majority of Americans shop there. Go figure lol
Thx for info!
You're welcome
Hey buddy been watched your videos for a while thank you for all the information, so I'm a 750k all safe mile driver 8 yrs OTR experience, perfect driving record also i was a trainer, looking to get on board at the walmart DC in Sealy Tx and chance you can forward my resume to a hiring manager?
All I can do as far as that goes is be a referral for you. If you use me as a referral your application will be before all the other ones that don't have a referral. That should get you a call back faster. Having all the experience with a good record will be very helpful but they put a huge emphasis on the onboarding process. Doing the skills test they want you to do generally is the make or break part of the process for most people. The trick is just do exactly what they want you to do no matter what and you'll be fine. They actually train you how they want you to do it in that week. I've seen a bunch of people that had like 30 to 40 years of a perfect record not get hired and they totally don't understand why. Let me know how it all turns out and if you have any other questions email me at don@20plustrucking.com . Good luck!
Some DCs simply do not have 6/2 or 6/3.. it's really hard to change your schedule once you picked up one. I've been asking to switch from 5/2 5/3 to 5/2 5/2 many times and they only been offering me night shifts. And it's really hard to get approval for extention. They hired so many drivers recently.. all packed. I'm in North east region..
You know it's tough if you don't have seniority And they don't offer a lot of different schedules. So I'm wondering are you a new driver? All the DCs are different so it really depends on where you work. In Red Bluff California we have a good selection of schedules. I've talked to drivers in Washington Oregon Utah Nevada and Arizona and I haven't heard anybody complain about their choice of schedules so I guess we got a good out here.
fellow pottsville driver? my ADP is only $290
Where do you work out of
@Carlostheyankeefan 6826 Red Bluff CA
Not sure what DC you work out of, but a buddy of mine has worked out of several in the past 20 years in PA, VA, NC, TN, and KY. You know a Smiley? Good videos by the way.
I haven't worked in any of those DC's but I have seen a truck out here in the west Not sure which DC can't remember that has the name smiley on the side. I'm sure it's a different smiley
Hello brother God bless you.
I like your content. (TH-cam)
I have some questions for you: I currently work at a Walmart in Hoover-Alabama, I have all my documents and papers in Rules but I am HISPANIC.
I want to know if Walmart's internal training program for new truckers is active here (in ALABAMA).
I HAVE BEEN DRIVING 18 AND 22 WHEEL HEAVY DAILY TRUCKS IN MY COUNTRY FOR MANY YEARS
I want to enroll in Walmart's internal training program because I do not have a CLASS A CDL.
Do you know: WHERE, WHEN AND HOW I can start the training.
I work the night shift. From 10 at night to 7 in the morning stocking merchandise on the shelves in the hallways.
I am afraid to ask my direct supervisor and my store manager for this information because I fear that instead of helping me. Maybe they just discourage me. And just advise me to forget about that idea. I fear that they are worried about running out of staff, among other things.
I am a father with three beautiful daughters and I am truly passionate about being a truck driver. I hope you can understand me and help me with the information. God bless your projects and your channel.
@@josevelasquez5831 I wish I knew another way you could apply for this but as far as I know that's the only way to apply for the program. Even if there was another way your direct supervisor would know about it. It would be extremely risky for them to give you a hard time about applying for that program. Basically if they try to discourage you or not help you they could get fired. I totally understand where you're coming from I also have three daughters and a wife. The thing is you're going to just have to take a leap of faith and ask your direct supervisor about it. I think it would be worth it to try and sign up for it because there is no deal this good in the industry right now. Essentially you are skipping two and a half years of low pay and hard work. Basically you're getting one of the best jobs in the industry right out the gate. Keep me up to date and let me know how it turns out. You can always email me at don@20plustrucking.com
I have been checking Walmart website. Looks like there is no openings in my area…just going to keep checking back
Yeah just give it time and keep checking eventually they'll be an opening.
This telling me we have an out side carrier that primarily takes the loads out of your nearest DC. You might have to expand the bubble
Hey i already work there as maintainece in the the store im going to go thru the associate to dri er program.. Do you think it would be easier to get a trucking position since i already work there?
Or is it still better to have a referral? Even though I work there.
The associate to driver program would be better than a referral.
If you could do the associate to driver program I would go for it. You don't need a referral for that.
Did you know Walmart rejected Augustine Ramos for private fleet?
Yes I know supposedly because he cracked a lens on the trailer so he says.
So I can't work 11 weeks on, one week off or something like that?
@@Unduplicatable no. I have a schedule that's 5 days on 5 days off. Some of the other schedules would be like 6 days on 2 days off or 6 days on 3 days off or 5 days on 2 days off just as a few examples.
@@20plustrucking dang... well I'm fed up with slip seating, anyway 🤷
@@Unduplicatable I don't blame you I would be too.
Does private fleet have the driver spy cameras like the company trucks? I’m referring to the one that video the driver and their bed not the road facing one.
We only have the ones that face the road that come on only if there's a hard breaking or an accident .
@@20plustrucking thanks for the response! Do they have owner opps? Getting a truck soon 😃
@@TheDude10k no just strictly company drivers in the private fleet.
If you have a schedule you like and someone with with more seniority wants your schedule can they take it from you??
Yes they can but there's more than just one of the schedules you want.
Ok, thank you!
Are they OK with drivers having tattoos?
And have you seen drivers with them?
Yes I see lots of people with tattoos.
@@mloml41 Yes multiple people have them and drive here.
How years does the #1 driver there have?
I used to know from the guy before but he retired so now I'm not sure other than I know it's over 20 years.
At our DC #6035 the top dog driver has been with the company since 1986.
@mathewrobbins5410 wow that's pretty awesome.
Talking to a WM driver and he mentioned slip seating there. Is that legit?
Yes there is slip seating but not everyone has to slip seat. Many drivers have their own truck and the closest they'll get to slip seating is their truck might get loaned out on their days off. Nobody used my truck for the last 5 years until a couple of months ago I got a partner with the truck I'm in now. He drives it on my days off. A lot of this has to do with what DC you work out of and the availability of trucks.
@@20plustrucking I know he runs out of Seymour, IN. but he told me that and I was like I don’t like that part. I don’t want some dirty butt sleeping on my mattress. Hahaha
We slip seat but the our trucks always be clean...No moving into a truck of your own right away
@nathanjones5653 coming to drive over here with us probably not going to be your place we slip seat here at Walmart
@@williesanders9473 I didn’t say I had a problem with it. I was just asking to inform myself.
How
Do a lot of drivers apply for the 5/5
@@cwtrucker4963 what do you mean how? How what?
@@cwtrucker4963 not that many actually.
