    That's decent pay and benefits for a driver. Don't have to hunt for loads, own a truck, and all the other costs O/O pay. Plus they match 6% on the 401k. It's nice to see a driver not ranting and stressed out about the job. Good Luck.

    Great video brother, I just got hired for the Tomah, WI location I have to move there but that will be just fine I am currently in Savannah, GA but if you want a job as a driver for Walmart you have to be willing to move there is nothing available in the Southeast part of the country but I have known how good working for Walmart is as a driver so it will be worth it I just left Averitt Express which has been good as well but Walmart is definitely the place to be if you can get in so it will be a great change.

I guess I just got lucky to be at the Red Bluff DC 6826 all these years and I've definitely enjoyed it for sure. It's hard to believe it'll be 18 years this December. We did that for the last 4 years running our own t-shirt printing business. I think besides the obvious benefit of that there is the fact that you have all the insurance you want for you and your family while owning your own business Even though you're only working five on five off.

    How do you start driving for Walmart? Get your CDL, and then what? Do you apply directly to Walmart or is it done through a carrier? How much experience do they require? Do you drive their trucks or have your own? Sorry for the 21 questions, love the video.

    • @20plustrucking
      @20plustrucking  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You have to get your CDL with all your endorsements including a hazmat. Then you have to find a job and work for at least 30 months. Once you have the 30 months experience then you can apply to drive for Walmart at drive4walmart.com . Actually if you go to that web address it will give you all the information you need as far as what you're driving record needs to look like and they experience you need. They've changed it a few times over the years so it could be different later in the future. If you do decide you like to drive for us Make sure you mention me in the section that says do you know anybody that works at Walmart? My name is Donald Smith I work out of the distribution center 6026 in Red Bluff California. Driver numbers 14609. The carrier actually is Walmart. We are a private fleet that only halls our own freight. You don't need to own the truck they supply all that and maintain and take care of everything.

    • @ChrisDavis333

      @@20plustrucking I found that website after I wrote the comment. Let’s say I finished training and got my CDL and started driving Solo for Prime, after 30 months I would be able to apply at Walmart? Granted I have no accidents or hiccups during my time driving for them, let’s say I am squeaky clean for this scenario, is the likelihood of me being hired pretty high? I’m currently in the process of obtaining my CDL, I don’t mind driving OTR for months on end, I’m able bodied and have nothing holding me back currently, I just would like to have a goal set, whether that’s owning my own truck and starting my own business or working for Walmart. I guess my question is, is once all criteria are met for employment, is the likelihood of being hired high or low for someone with 30-40 months or experience?

    • @20plustrucking
      @20plustrucking  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ChrisDavis333 with that scenario your chances of getting hired are very high actually. Of course you have to go to the onboarding process but if you've been driving for 30 months and haven't had any accidents or tickets I'm sure you'll do fine. By using someone like me as a referral your application will be put to the top of the stack and you will get a call much sooner. Walmart has been hiring thousands of people in the last couple of years because they are expanding their fleet. A lot of Walmart freight from grocery DC's have been ran by third party companies and they have been eliminating that as of lately.

    • @20plustrucking
      @20plustrucking  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Well I work five on five off so I'm not making $130,000 a year but I did make $100,000 last year because I work extra. Also we get a quarterly safety bonus so that adds up to a few thousand a year depending on how many miles you drive. As far as those people making $130,000 a year well it's pretty easy math if you just work 5 days a week and take your two off that's about 264 days a year getting paid not counting the safety bonus and at $500 a day that is $132,000. Remember that's not counting the safety bonus that's just straight gross wages. As far as take home goes it's just silly to count take home because everybody is different because of taxes and what you have taken out of your check as far as 401k and insurance and things like that. So basically if you've been here a while you can definitely make $140,000 a year working full-time.

    Can you break down where each segment of pay comes from ie. What you got for miles, what you got for drop and hook, what you got for layovers and or spending the night in the truck.

    • @20plustrucking
      @20plustrucking  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can pretty much break that down but I can't get too specific because I don't think they want us to release the actual numbers and pay structure. Basically I'm getting about 67 cents a mile and you can pretty much figure it's about an average of $20 per stop. We get paid $42 a night for layover. And if we have to wait extra time anywhere it works out to about $16 an hour. At stores that usually means after I've been there 45 minutes. That's a good estimation of what it generally is. Since we drop and hook the majority of the time it doesn't take long for those stops unless it's unloading groceries which is usually pretty quick on average. Depends on the people at the store and how fast they are at unloading.

GM vs groceries has got to be confusing to all those people out there that don't work for Walmart. I get it either way can make you $130,000 a year but the question I ask myself is how do I want to spend my time :-) I think it's really a matter of preference for a lot of people I'm sure. For example I always wondered why people did flatbed tying down loads in the weather when they really didn't make that much more money than I did back in the day when I was driving tankers. On the other hand I would sit and wait a lot to get loaded. There's pluses and minuses to everything but for people to fully understand how all that works it generally takes years of experience.

I’m used to the weekly pay but when I talk to Walmart drivers and they tell me what they make a day I’m starting to feel like bi weakly pay isn’t so bad. Crete resigned but I know it won’t be long before we’re probably gonna lose it. Things have already happened in the last month.

      @@thattruckerwes8072 If they start running Walmart drivers out of there permanently I'm sure they would like to hire someone that's already been doing it. You'd only have to change trucks not jobs.

    That thought Walmart will not allow you to talk about these things ?? I enjoy your content nonetheless pretty cool you don’t seem to be working hard or killing yourself seems like a pretty chill job I’m an independent driver running my own authority and rates are pretty Crappy industry is pretty crappy so definitely learning a few things I had no clue about …

      Right on that's cool! I hoped people would pick up on some stuff that maybe they hadn't heard about before and see that this is actually a very chill job that pays well. I get this is not for everyone but I just like The fact they don't bother me and I can just work and go home and enjoy all the time off I can in addition to all that.

    Can you make more than 110 a year ?

    • @20plustrucking
      @20plustrucking  26 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      In your first year you probably wouldn't make more than that but anything's possible. If you've been here a long time like myself and if you work full time you probably would make around $140,000 a year.

      HE IS NOT LIEING. EVERYTHING HE SAID IS TRUE. YOU CAN MAKE MONEY AT WALMART. BUT YOU HAVE TO RUN AT LEAST DOWN TO ABOUT THE LAST 30MIN LEFT ON YOUR 11 DRIVE TIME😊

      @@gregorywebb9573 I would have to agree with that for sure. Try not to ever run less than 10 and 1/2 hours a day if you want to make the good money. Although sometimes activity will make up for that depending on the circumstance and the stores.
