Like the other comment, owner operator days are numbered , mega carriers and broken English companies have lowered rates and driver pay , but more importantly Amazon changed the logistics industry, from the shipping and receiving end down to the delivery aspect. Warehouses want efficient ways of doing things so they implemented changes and they borrowed ideas from a company that jumped to nation wide and world wide success in just 25 short years. Mean while companies that have been around for 125 years have closed their doors run out of business . Companies that have been warehousing for 50/75 years never achevied the level of success that Amazon has ! Thats why the trucking industry will never recover from this downfall. Im also in California , th economics get even grimmer here . homegrown companies that got their start and success here have moved to other states or out of country to escape the high cost of doing business here , and the high cost of living , I'll end it here, and like someone else already commented, go drive for a local company locally, or find a 9 to 5 go home every night , work your ten hours collect your check on Friday, enjoy your weekends ,sorry to say , trucking will never be like it was.
