Console exclusivity keeps consoles relevant. If games go everywhere, what's the point in owning a console.

Yeah once the beta testing is completed Sony will roll out additional features in the future and as time goes on we will be able to use the Portal tether free unless you want to remote play physical games from the PS5, I also feel these tests being carried out on the Portal is in preparation for the Portal 2, or the next new Handheld over the coming years. The Zen4 and Zen5 discussions are preliminary at this stage, I wouldn't worry about Sony console platform being built with any bottlenecks, Sony is renowned for innovation, whatever they decide to go with, will be to protect themselves against emerging technologies. They also have partnered with Japan Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing to build a new manufacturing facility which will be ready by early 2026 - 2027, to ensure they have all the necessary chips and components ahead of the PS6, along with partnering with many other consumer electronic component manufacturing companies, they will ensure its priced accordingly. After the Pro released, many people are running with the narrative that the PS6 will be close to £700 - £1000 when it releases, the fact is no one actually knows. The pro is an enthusiast console, aimed at core gamers seeking that little bit extra, therefore its positioned in the market as a premium product. The PS6 will be a mass market console, therefore it would have to be positioned at an affordable price to move masses of gamers from PS4, PS5, PS5 Pro onto a new platform, and Sony is well aware of the problems a high price point can have at the launch of a brand new console (think back to PS3 and Xbox One - both massively overpriced for various reasons). Although no one actually knows, we can take an educated guess that the PS6 will be priced between £500 - £600, and is very likely not to come with a disc drive (i wish it comes with a drive attached but i dont think this will happen), the drive will be optional for around £80 - £100, so in theory the price could rise to around £600 - £700 if you want the drive too. I'm only guessing, that may be too high and Sony may lower the price to £500 all in, including the drive. One thing for sure though is that Sony will want gamers to adopt the PS6 quickly, so pricing is key, they will for sure initially sell the PS6 at a loss like every other previous console ever released in the industry, certainly for the first year or 2, then they will refine it and come out with different versions slowly reducing the cost of manufacturing to start making profit on the console. Either way, exciting times.

I dont think it will be 8 years, probably 3 to 4 years time between 2027 - 2028, i would be surprised if it is any later than 2028.

Yeah that was a good game, i just typically prefer the world war 1 and 2 settings in games, so i enjoyed BF1 and BF5 but Bad company was okay too

Yep, I agree... I even pop back in Callisto protocol after their update... And got damn that game looks and runs hella good. I was shocked on what they did for the pro patch

It will sort itself out over the coming weeks, these small issues are few and far between and reflects badly on the development teams rather than the pro, afterall, there are so many games that run and look so well on the Pro, its just the initial wave which if there were problems would become evident during the first wave, the next wave and 3rd wave onwards of games coming should not really have any problems unless under exceptional circumstances, but even then, it will be how the devs implement the enhancements for the pro.

Can't wait to dive back into The Callisto Protocol now that its patched and ready to go.I mean it was already a pretty impressive game visually, this update for me personally will take it to another level.

@@BGUKKY Will probably be a pssr 2.0 patch.. Lol just saying, but once the patch comes and the WAY AI will be working with these games considered how massive the open world games are.. Gaming will be thought of in a different, but better way

Yeah i agree - the way AI and machine learning is growing, improving being rapidly developed, so many games/devs are currently not adopting this in their games fully, once they start to introduce more AI and ML elements - imagine playing a game where a single player game has a map with 50 - 100 enemies (think Call of duty single player, or Red Dead Redemption, The Last of Us, GTA, Ghost, MGS, etc), and every time you play the game currently you know where the enemies are, you know the layout etc. Imagine playing these games with AI and ML built in, with procedural generation of where these enemies are, how they act and behave in the game, sometimes the enemies will be in groups of 4's or 5's, sometimes they will be in larger groups, sometimes they may be playing poker or sleeping, eating etc - their behaviour within the game is randomly generated by AI & ML, rather than programmed to be in a certain position - this is the level of innovation we need to see in the games, your playthrough will never be the same again - you won't know what to expect. However games have to be built that way, which will be very demanding, so if the consoles have supporting architecture with AI & ML functions the devs may be able to utilise these features to deliver an incredible gaming experience.

Nope, not yet, this feature is a beta test for around 120 games that are specifically available from the PS Plus catalogue - once this is perfected i would imagine Sony will introduce other features like being able to play your digital games and older games from PS4

Your right, loads of people jumping on the band wagon. There are always technical glitches and small teething issues when a new console launches, apart from a small handful of games the pro has been superb so far, well for me at least

@@BGUKKY same. Just redownloaded Callisto on plus. I stopped playing it bcs the 60fps looked a bit bland and the 30 was unbearable. But omg it looks STUNNING in 4k60

Yeah I feel Sony is going to be doing various tests with cloud and streaming on the portal to get their next one (portal2, vita2, PSP) what ever they call it much more akin to a handheld that does not require you to have a PS5. Hopefully all your digital purchase available to play via cloud, SSD/micro SSD storage of at least 2TB, remote play physical games from PS5, and back catalogue of all PlayStation library of games, if not then at least PS3, PS3, PS4 and PS5 games

It's a good feature which is long overdue, i look forward to getting the PS Portal probably next year.

Whatever the GPU will be for the PS6, it will be custom built for the system. It will have various features of RDNA and UDNA, Machine Learning, AI and other advanced technology available at the time of development.

@BGUKKY RDNA 4 is the last for AMD. After that, it's UDNA going forward. So when the Playstation 6 gets announced the GPU might be UDNA 2 or 3.

Sony are working in partnership with AMD, i'm sure whatever version of AMDs architecture (UDNA 1, 2, 3) is going to be inside the PS6 will be custom made.

Lol yeah something like that, the real leap forward in consoles is going to be the use of AI and machine learning, real time data driven systems that react to how we play games, how games are developed with AI baked into those games. Its going to be fascinating to see this evolve over time. Sure graphics will get marginally better, the ray tracing elements will improve as we get more powerful hardware, but the way games are built to leverage and utilise the consoles is going to be where we will see the real differences, if the developers take advantage of the technology on offer.

Yeah could very well be true, i just feel 2026 is far too soon since we've only just had the Pro and we still haven't really seen many games take advantage of this console generation, so many games being cross gen, so i feel 2027 could be the very earliest, but my guess would be 2028 for the Ps6.

Oh definitely, I’d love an out and out handheld, there have been rumours of Sony working on a handheld, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get one with the PS6 or slightly before

Now we just need Ubisoft to fix Outlaws and that should be all of them. Alan Wake could be better but it’s not bad honestly. I would have just rather had them focus on resolution and performance instead of trying to stuff more features in or bumping up settings and still having similar internal resolutions.

Hopefully Ubisoft fixes Outlaws, it's in their interest to get it playing the best it can, gives people an excuse to dive in on the Pro, i've not played it yet but i may dive in if its patched and works properly, it will most definitely be in sale over Black Friday and Christmas holidays so its a good time to give it a go.

Need a good BF game

BF1 was my last one . After that everything else was dog water.

BF1 was great, i did enjoy BF5, that was okay, back then i enjoyed it more than Call of Duty, the large scale maps and multiplayer was good, 64 players back then online was pretty good. 2042 was awful, i hated it.

Yeah it was on my radar but has been pushed back maybe to 2025 or 2026, PS5 Pro this year, VR next year, maybe portal in 2025 or 2026.

It's been confirmed today that Sony is indeed seeking to acquire Kadokawa - therefore owning everything including being the major shareholder of FromSoftware. It gets complicated because Tencent owns a share and so does Bandai Namco, if not of the studio then of some of the IP - like Dark Souls i think Bandai Namco owns some of it, its complicated although if this deal does go through as the majority shareholder (over 85%) Sony practically will run it how they want.

Sony also owns Horizon God of War and multiple other IPs, you pick one IP and make it sound negative. The devs of Bloodborne was developed by FromSoftware - hence if Sony acquire them as part of the Kadokawa acquisition then it makes perfect sense for more bloodborne and future Soulslike games. Future from software games will continue to be made, like I said, Sony owns multiple IPs and it’s in their interest to make more games

Sony would definitely be the dominant company providing Anime series, just to note Kadokawa is the parent company, they own FromSoftware. There may be some issues/detail to sort out with FromSoftware, becuase Tencent and Bandai Namco are also involved with the development of some games/IP, but i'm sure Sony will work this out as the majority shareholder and the others are minority stakeholders.

LOL - i was shocked, well, maybe just surprised a little, although given the rich anime and manga IP/content it makes sense, the added value of FromSoftware with their games and IP is also massive, they would fit into Sony's line up of 1st party studios perfectly.

Yeah i can see some kind of a remaster for the PlayStation platform, or maybe they could to like a collection - in one bundle or something similar

I really hope so - i would love to get Bloodborne 4K60FPS with ray tracing followed by a Bloodborne 2 in a few years time from FromSoftware, with Dark Souls and a new Sekiro set of games too

Yes this is true, but when competitors like Microsoft are acquiring entire publishers, and companies like Tencent and Embracer Group are picking up studios, either you (Sony) join the party or get left behind. In this instance Sony has decided to play, and the move makes good sense from their perspective given the IP and properties owned by the Kadokawa group.

Microsoft did exactly the same thing during the 360 era - keeping exclusive "paid for" content on Xbox, have you forgot that? You're acting as though Sony is the only company in the world doing it. All companies are scummy in one form or another, stop pretending Microsoft is your friend. At least with Sony, 30 years of experience delivery high quality games, i can bank on them continuing to deliver good games for years to come, can you say that about Microsoft?

It's not just Sony and Microsoft, it's also Embracer, Take Two, Tencent, EA, NetEase Games, and others acquiring studios. No one knows what's going to happen in the future, studios come and go all the time. It's no secret that Bungie was struggling before the Sony acquisition and would have closed if they were not acquired by Sony or another large company. How Firewalk studios got so far in development with Concord is beyond comprehension. The moment Sony took over that studio they should have paused development to re-evaluate that game, that studio closing is not all down to Sony, its also on Firewalk, there is no way that game should have continued development. Tango Gameworks should never have been closed down, HiFi Rush was pretty decent and Tokyo Ghostwire i thought was also a decent game. The problem is if one company doesnt buy these smaller studios, then another company will. From what i have seen over the past 30 years, studios come and go, developers leave and set up new studios during times of consolidation. If a company were to buy a studio then i'd rather that be Sony buying them than Microsoft, Tencent or Embracer, at least Sony has strong history and pedigree with their first party studios delivery high quality games. This of course doesnt guarantee anything, but it is what it is. Like i say, if Sony dont acquire them, someone else will.

Yeah I mentioned this on another comment, given Kadokawa’s IP form their games, to media and publishing, to their Anime and Manga it really suits Sony, they would be a really good fit to Sony’s business. The FromSoftware IP is also highly acclaimed and has lots of fans who enjoy those types of ‘souslike’ games.

There's so much that just makes too much sense, not to mention Sony could lend them their tech like maybe using the Decima Engine for some games, and working closely with Xdev to make more optimized games, since that has always been a huge problem for FromSoftware and working on less platforms like strictly PS and PC would even further allow for better optimization. This one and Capcom were always the 2 I thought Sony would go after when the consolidation stuff started, just cause those 2 had the biggest relationships with Sony and when it comes to single player studio acquisitions that's always how Sony operated.

Yeah i see that happening along with Square Enix over time, there relationship with Sony is very strong and despite those companies making games across all platforms, at some point Sony will make their move. And FromSoftware getting all that tech support available across 1st party studios will greatly advance the quality of their games (not saying they were bad), add to that the support the other IP will also get whilst under Sony from their movies, music and Anime it just makes sense.

If this goes through I would imagine a Bloodborne remaster is what Sony will probably do first, given their track record of remakes and remasters so I think they will start there, enhanced for the pro followed by a Dark Souls remaster or remake leading to BloodBorne 2 in the future

Interested to see how this plays out - will they keep Elden Ring 2 exclusive to PS5, or will it go multiplat. Part of me thinks they will leave it for FromSoftware to decide on what they want to do. Or have some kind of time PS5/Pro exclusivity before going multiplat.

@@BGUKKY elden ring sold 25million, 70%( 41% on ps 4 and 5 and 29% on xbox)of which was on console was on console which is 18million if iw as sony id just make it console exclusive all fromsoft games and freeze pc out which only sold 29% of the game(or require them to make psn accounts this is more like it if sony plans to have a pc first party store launcher(not steam)) while by the time the games come out xbox will be gone and fully 3rd party, you can prob prob take at least 20%if not all xbox gamers who bought ER would be on ps5 by then, and you could make some pc uers buy playstion prob 18% of that 29% but maybe all 29%. this if you ask me is more about anime than fromsoft, its just a win win to sony (who said they are tring to intermengale there gameing ip to movies and show ect) i could see sony losing 5 to 6 million in sales to make the souls games exculisve to playstion and get more pc users in there ecosystem even if its only 5% of them 29% pc users would give sony more money over the long term than just selling it on pc. but as a crunchroll subscriber im glad they bought this.........im 100% ok with anime being consolidated in one place there are too many sub places right now.

Too many subscription services are just to expensive to sign up to all these places so that's a good thing if you are getting it in one place. I can see the games going exclusive certainly to PlayStation for a period of time and then releasing on PC. And if you want to play on PC you must have a PSN account, which once Sony has their PC PlayStation launcher tied into their handheld device and the PS6, it will start to come together. Similar to how Xbox utilised gamepass on console and PC. But if this happens, i think it will be console exclusive, with a PC version also available after a period of time.

This will make PS players happy because Sony keep prioritizing them, but PC and Xbox fans might be mad.

@@BGUKKY Microsoft is in a lot of trouble they can't say anything because they spent more than Sony is going to spend and lied about increasing Game Pass. Also they're in the process of putting their games over to Sony so they have to be on good terms with Sony

I don’t think Microsoft could do anything, the only angle they have is that Elden Ring is a multi plat and that game shouldn’t be allowed to be made exclusive by Sony or something like that. In all honesty Xbox is finished as a console platform, I just see Xbox as the same as Embracer or Tencent, 3rd party publisher.

@@BGUKKY You do realize Elden Ring sold 15 million on Steam/PC alone out of the 25 million total right? If Sony really is this stupid to lock a game like that behind their console they will not only lose out on massive sales, but also a lot of goodwill FromSoftware has on PC.

Did i say it was exclusive to the playstation platform? Of course i realise the game sold over 25m copies. If the acquisition goes through the game will end up being a PlayStation console exclusive, and will also be ported to the PC, dont know if it will day and date on PC or released at a later date onto PC. Also, if it comes to PC, you'll need a PSN account before you can play it, just like you need a steam account, an xbox account, Rockstar/Take Two account, an EA account, Ubisoft account to play their games etc etc etc

Good take, like i say in the video, i dont like consolidation, but if Sony doesnt do it, Microsoft, Embracer, Tencent or someone else will step in. Its the best of a bad situation, at least if it is Sony, more often than not they will ensure the games/quality and execution are of a high standard.

I really didn’t think they would be out here doing this but when you think about it it makes a lot of sense given the IP, single player nature of games FromSoftware owns, the relationship of PS gamers and Bloodborne, the Anime, Manga and Publishing/media that Kadokawa owns, it makes sense for Sony on so many levels but the uproar will be incredible

Reuters don’t mess around. This isn’t a fanboy podcast reporting on it also. Reuters reported about the talks of Sony and Crunchyroll about a month before Sony formally announced the buyout in late 2020. So these guys are legit. Kadokawa’s stock also shot up and also when reps from both Sony and Kadokawa were asked to comment, they declined. If it was rumors, they’d dispel it. So then declining to comment also proved it’s true

Yeah that's very true, as i mentioned in the video, we have one of the largest news media agencies in the world reporting on a big business deal, they can't mess up reporting on speculation as it impacts market/share prices, they would also lose credibility if the story is too far off the mark. Sony were also recently linked to an acquisition of Paramount, so we know they are shopping around for a larger slice of the tv/music/movies business, this makes sense with Kadokawa given the massive presence with anime and manga content. The addition of gaming IP is also a valuable part of the business and adds significant depth to Sony's first party studio line up especially when you factor in games like Elden Ring, Sekiro, Armored Core, Dark Souls.

Most titles are absolutely fine, it’s a handful of games that have small bugs/require an update

May as well just hold fire for now until the game is update, this was going to be my first game playthrough on the Pro but im not playing any new games on the Pro until they have been pro enhanced/patched.
