I thought you were supposed to wait to see if you hit a short return or a long return before making your way to the kitchen? If your return is short, you’re going to get blasted while you’re in the transition zone. Also, I hear we’re supposed to hit the ball high to allow us time to make that decision.

Tanner is completely mixed up on what a split step does. A split step should be as the opponent is about to hit the ball. Where Tanner is wrong is it makes you explosive side to side not forward!

Trick: When finishing it, pull the grip wrap and stretch until it breaks. This way the grip end will be smaller and fit the tape better.

Thoughts about slice return?

Split step just before they serve is the bonus tip...

Agree with @dannybplays. Also, this is only ideal if it’s at your side. If an opponent hits it at your feet in the middle of the court (and it’s relatively a fast/straight shot, then it would be virtually impossible to get your paddle at a side angle @tanner.pickleball
