    Can’t tell you how much my pickleball IQ has gone up because of your videos. I’m still ironing out my mechanics, but the game makes SO much more sense to me now. It has made the game far more enjoyable for me. I hope sponsors flood your channel- you deserve it! Congrats on 4th in a pro tournament. Been a pleasure to watch your rise

    Ever since I changed my game to just get the ball in (from Tanner’s advice) rather than playing for winners, I’ve improved dramatically. Play not to lose!

    Tanner - this is gold. Props to you. Really awesome strategy and I'd like to say 'yeah, that makes sense because I do that all the time' but I'd be lying because the material you present in this vid and many others is so insightful - it's really awesome stuff. Thank you thank you thank you. Keep 'em coming!

    Tanner your advice is practical. The first one applies to me, a game of error. I muck it by playing aggressively leading to self errors.

    Thanks Tanner for a concise, yet comprehensive at the same time PB strategy video full of practical, PB wisdom that's easy to understand and follow just like all your videos, including the shorts. In this case, this might be the best, easy-to-follow strategic blueprint video that can take anyone below a 5.0+ up a level that I've ever seen!

    Tanner! This weekend July 27th and 28th will actually be my first amateur tournament here in Jacksonville, Florida. Perfect opportunity to watch this video!
    Doing 3.5 mens doubles with my partner who is a lefty and I am a righty, stacking of course. mixed doubles with my wife and singles on Sunday.
    Can’t wait to use a lot of the tips I have learned from your amazing and easy to follow videos. You the man!

      @@BobMcVinuaI appreciate the support Mr. Bob! My grandpa’s name was Bob actually but of course it was always just grandpa to me haha.
      Men’s doubles this morning started off great. We were 3-1 and in the 2nd seed out of 7 teams. Then we got smoked 11-0 by the top seed and then lost 11-6 to put its at 3-3 and tied with another team for the 4th seed. I thought we would be good to play in the bronze medal match as but we ended up with 42 total points to the other teams 45.
      First real tournament under my belt and ready to play with my wife tomorrow for mixed doubles then solo later in the night, she is probably more athletic than me and competitive also haha. So we make a good team
      I’ll touch base tomorrow evening Bob.

      @@TotshotAirsoft Saturday went well with my partner Jason. We went 3-3 and just missed I it in the bronze playoff match by 5 points.
      Sunday morning Kali and myself went 0-6 and even got golden pickled our very first game! Kali was playing in brooks running shoes and sprained the top of her ankle and couldn’t really move after game 3. We did score some points and utilized stacking for me to poach as many balls as possible. We probably should have started at the 3.0 mixed doubles level instead of 3.5 for our first together. But we had fun and gained valuable experience.
      Sunday evening Kali went 0-2 in a double elimination women’s 3.0-3.5 singles. She almost won her second game 9-11. We went to Dicks and got her the Nike pickleball shoes and it definitely helped but she was still limping you could tell.
      Then I lost my first game 1-11 to a dude that in my plays singles and had crazy backspin on his serve. Second game I should have won and was up 7-4 at one point then lost 8-11. Happy overall with the weekend and can’t wait to play in another one! Sorry for the long reply 😅

    Great tips, love the 10 drinks before a speed up. Typically the other team makes a bad speed up for you to take advantage of. My wife and I at the 4.0 level got third in our first tournament, could have placed better using these strategies. Would love to come to Florida for some lessons if your schedule could facilitate it. We are from western Canada. Keep up the great content. You break the game down in specific fundamentals better than any other content creater.

    Not sure if you take vid ideas, but something lately that's been annoying me that I'd love a tutorial on is when someone has a really unconventional(or less common) style of playing, it gives intermediate players all sorts of trouble since they aren't typical to the normal flow of the game. A few examples are: players who only ever do high lob serves, players who almost every play will do a 3rd shot lob(and land them pretty near the back), and my biggest annoyance: speeding up no matter what. I want so much to be able to punish them but they continue to get away with it because so many intermediate players have trouble with them. If you ever do this vid, I'd love if you went over other types of bad habit play styles that intermediates get away with and how to effectively counter them

    all good stuff, I just wish you didn't do it as a premiere, I'd rather just watch the video as soon as you have it uploaded. In fact, this was released on a mid-Saturday, when most tournaments happen. The best possible timing would've been a Thursday evening for any Fri-Sun tournaments

      yeah haha, this actually premiered 1 hour before my pickleball tournament today. I didn't get to watch it because I was on my way to the tourney. Won Silver though at least. Been trying out the drop and dink middle tips. My only question is that these shots don't feel very aggressive or like they are forcing opponents into awkward shots. Is the idea that we use them because they are safe shots and we wait for that mess up from the opponents to THEN hit that winner aggressive wide dink or smash? Great videos, keep it up.

    • @tanner.pickleball
      @tanner.pickleball  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Exactly it, though it is safe and not aggressive, that is what you should be doing! It is not about winning on a dink, it is about getting a popup on a dink!

    I hear you about pickleball being a game of minimizing errors. But….my strengths are my forehand drive and serve, same as when I played tennis. Basically, the power game. I have been working on improving my soft game but when I play high competition, it’s always my power game that winnings me points and games. Understanding that everyone has different strengths and you should play to your strengths and practice improving your weaknesses, what do you think about playing to your strengths? Even at the pro level, teams know they aren’t going to out dink the Johns brothers, so they go for more.

    • @tanner.pickleball
      @tanner.pickleball  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Totally agree with your entire comment. If I was playing the johns bros I would totally take way more riskier shots instead of endlessly dink for sure. Play to your strength!

    I don’t know why, but I am so impatient and I am always the first one who speeds up first and puts my partner into a trouble when the ball comes back so quickly 🥵 I watch Tanner’s videos a lot, but still can’t fix my impatience 😅
