Having trouble downloading the file. When I click on it, it says copy name?
I just tested it and it works as it should. I subscribe and then it goes to Google & there is a download arrow in the top right corner to download to your computer.
Are you downloading to a computer?
@@SilhouetteSecrets Yes on my computer.
In the zipped folder you will find the .studio file, the .svg and the terms of use. This file is a direct download. You will need to unzip/extract the folder downloaded in order to open the file. This file can be opened by using File > Open and selecting the .studio file or drag and drop from the saved location on your computer onto the Silhouette workspace or into a shape on the workspace.
@@SilhouetteSecrets Following your instructions, I got it. lol Thank you so much for this fun project. I got to thinking that making them small enough you could use on Holiday cards and ephemera in a journal for winter scenes. Feel free to pass these ideas along to others.
Great tutorial, I get inconsistencies with my cut even using the same cardstocks, do you have any suggestions or any reason why it does that? I am a beginner and just got my Cameo 5 a few weeks ago, watched a lot of your tutorials too. And one more thing, my ES mat somestimes does not hold the paper down enough and it starts moving as soon as the cutting starts. Thank you
The first things I would recommend is making sure the blade is installed properly and adjusting correctly. th-cam.com/video/Qec-SNhLCzw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3YAA70ctZ6I3mlYq Next, use good quality cardstock and watch that the blade adjusts each time. For the ES Mat, I make sure the paper is secure before I send the design, it should not move at all. Heavy cut settings can cause it to shift. Settings really just depend on the actual cardstock and can vary by brand, color, blade life, etc.
Those are really nice!
Thank you! Fun to make!
Are you actually laminating them or just applying the sheet? And if so, you're laminating before cutting, correct?
@@melinjones3569 it is an adhesive laminate sheet that I applied before cutting.

Why do you use a capital B for your test cut? What’s the benefit?
@@lisaanderson1788 first, you can easily move it around the design mat to cut where you want it to & it's faster than moving the default test cut. And second, it has corners, straight lines, and curves that are being cut, so it covers the majority of what a design would have. This explains more silhouette-secrets.com/test-cut-2/
@ thank you much appreciated 😊
@lisaanderson1788 you are welcome!
What's the workaround, I'm not going to pay for this shit.
The work around is to buy the svg from the designer and not steal their files. If you use the actual svg file, you don't have that restriction. Buying the .studio file does not give you the rights to use that to create a svg file.
@@SilhouetteSecrets Thanks for the quick reply! But you're WRONG. The workaround is free Inkscape software. Does automatic vector tracing and SVG export and unlike Designer is completely free. Also, it has NOTHING to do with stealing anything, it's the ability to export a bloody SVG that you yourself drew in Designer.
@smalltowns my mistake. You commented on my export restriction video for .studio files and that what I thought you were complaining about. Yes, you can use other programs to create SVGs, many do.
I have lost my library any suggestions for retrieving ?

@juliegallagher4377 yay! So glad that worked and you can get in. That tells me something in the web browser history is stuck.
Hey, very nice and informative video. Did you notice any deviation when you print and cut on glossy sticker paper? Also a lot of people tell me that there is a larger margin of error if you print circles (for examples I want to cut the circles for the badges I am making) and the cameo 4 I tried at a local dealer last year deviated a lot from the starting circles at the first roll and the circles at the last roll. I appreciate your response, it will be really helpful. Have a lovely day
cameo 4 pro When the cartridge moves to the left it moves back to the right to the correct starting position but when I hit start the cartridge moves about a 1/4" to the right before it starts cutting. Do you know why it does this? TIA
What size cutting mat are you using? Or what size media? Where it begins cutting is dependent on the setup - smaller than 24" materials set up in the software and it affects where the cut starts. This explains more - silhouette-secrets.com/2021/02/06/5-steps-to-setting-up-and-troubleshooting-the-cameo-pro/ Make sure you have the Show Cut border checked so you know where it will cut. It should line up to what is on the screen... however, there have been bugs in some software versions that affect it as well.
kind of dumb they dont let us reorder them as we please i hate scrolling through 100 options to get to mine at the bottom
Thanks so much, Elly Mae. I lost over $50 since I didn't know how to use my account correctly and the SUPPORT process from them was sorely lacking!

Thank you!! Very good video! I was wondering which of the two brands does better with smaller detail/more intricate cuts. I'm contemplating either the Romeo or the cameo pro mk ii (I’m wanting to leave the dreaded C brand machine in the dust!)
What materials do you cut?
@@SilhouetteSecrets I just realized I meant to comment on the video you did about the two brands, my apologies! I mainly cut vinyl and htv.
@ I just realized I meant to leave this comment on the video you did talking about both brands, I apologize. But I mainly cut vinyl and htv. I don't do a whole lot with cardstock.
@@Diamondpainting_Chelle both can cut those materials. I would say that Siser Romeo (or Juliet) are better at intricate designs - however, that is only if the user is willing to take the time to learn proper machine usage and setup. The user is in charge of everything and is control of it. Once it's set up and the user is comfortable with it, then it's amazing what it can do. But, both brands will cut those materials. With Siser machines, you are in charge of more.
@ thank you!! That totally makes sense. I know with either option it'll be an adjustment. But it’s like I always tell my kiddo, you won’t learn if you don't practice 😊
I prefer to see the good the bad and the ugly in a video as it is honest and you learn how to troubleshoot when things go wrong and sooner or later they do with any brand. Silhouette have got a bit sloppy with their software over the years but hopefully they will knuckle down and test better in future before releasing anything as they have serious competition with the Cricut maker 3.
I couldn’t disagree more. I have had 2 Cricut Maker3’s (going on my 3rd) as my second replacement). The Calibration is terrible, awful precision not to mention absolute lack of Customer service when issues do arise. I’m done wasting my time and money on Cricut. Cameo5 is showing up to be much more superior especially in the print then cut arena.
@ I was thinking of getting either a cricut maker or silhouette c5 and I am going to go with another silhouette. They are not perfect either but I have always had a silhouette and this confirmed my choice. So the video helped me choose as I can see the Cricut maker is not better than the SC5
You are a great teacher! This is the first video of yours I've watched and learned a lot. You are clear and thorough. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
@@kathicreveling2662 thank you! I'm so glad it helped!

I am so glad to found this video. It shows that how much work and maintenance there is to all your projects. Makes me feel better because it takes me awhile to find project items that go together than it seems some people can make a that fast project. Thank you!
Yes! Don't believe all the video magic that you see. Projects can take much longer than the short videos people post to TH-cam or a reel and they may not always turn out the first time.
Have you ever had issues with the depth detector? My machine is not getting the depth right and isn’t touching the vinyl so it won’t cut.
@@dr.margiea.hinojosa3282 are you doing a manual detection? If not, I would recommend you do it so you can see the number or measures. If it's glossy vinyl, you may need to place a flat piece of copy paper on top to get the height detection to read correctly. The optical eye bounces off shiny materials.
@ I tried it. It still isn’t working. 😭
I know we normally don't cut through a carrier sheet, but I have a reason that I want to, using some puff HTV... how much should I increase my blade depth so it cuts through the carrier sheet but doesn't cut my mat?
Every brand and type would vary... test cuts will be your best friend in this case, but I'd start with the Texture Cardstock setting to test.
Hi, I'm thinking about buying this electrostatic bed and I'm grateful for your tips in the video. To prevent the protective sheet from being placed the wrong way on the bed, would it be possible to mark the top left corner with some kind of white permanent marker or does the entire protective sheet have to remain absolutely clear? I thought about using the letter "B" which you cannot put on the wrong way without realizing it.
What we've noticed is that the protective sheets are not uniform, so one package may be different than another.... just something to be aware of since this was first released. You could try to mark it with a permanent marker and see if it stays, but it will probably come off... at least with use. But, it's not a bad idea to try.
@@SilhouetteSecretsThank you for your quick reply. I saw a (short) video where someone filmed the electrostatic bed looking down from above, and it looked like you would need about as much space as with a regular mat. I think I will give it a try.
@ralphm9365 the electristatic mat properly needs a bit more space that is completely flat and level. But I think it's worth it if you cut a lot of cardstock. It has saved me some time.
@@ralphm9365 this may help too th-cam.com/video/L0t5EXzItRk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=kYRkTd_PfdEc_1DN
@@SilhouetteSecrets Thank you so much for this tip. Now I know a lot more about the electrostatic bed. Today was a very 'productive' day: I tried to recycle some 8x20 inches cardboard scraps and I cut directly into my mat because I didn't realize that the orientation was set to landscape and I put the cardboard in portrait. Then I experienced that you can't just scale a sticker down from 3,5 inches to 1 inch without checking what the smallest cutouts end up in size. I needed about 10 minutes to clean up the mat from all the tiny bits. At the end I ended up using a soft brush and warm water to clean the mat. Sometimes I get this feeling I just should have stayed in bed instead... 🤣Today I'm pretty sure the plotter and I won't become friends, but ther's always tomorrow as they say.
That poinsettia is beautiful
Thank you so much for this! I got a cameo 5 and is my first, i messed up my mat, it has all paper residue stuck to it and i used a bit of water and it messed up the glue, my heart sank and just left it to the side. Now with your video im a little confident to try again.... after i figure out how to save my new one time used mat.
Get a new cutting mat and then use that one for something else like a painting mat, etc. The glue is water soluble and should not be washed. Here are some tips to getting the most out of your cutting mats - silhouette-secrets.com/2019/02/12/tips-to-get-the-most-out-of-your-silhouette-mat/
