My name is Hellynn and I live in the US, but I've traveled to Korea (where I'm from) to undergo multiple rounds of IVF. Being 40+ and trying to bring children into the world is hard, but I also have diminished ovarian reserve (DOR). For those reasons, I am doing back-to-back rounds of IVF.
Navigating this world of infertility is definitely a challenge - a million new acronyms, hormones and protocols to learn - it's A LOT. So I thought I'd just talk about everything I've been learning for the women out there who are going through similar struggles. I'm also here to guide anyone who is interested in traveling to Korea for IVF, since it's more cost efficient with high success rates here.
I am treating this YT channel as my diary, talking about the ups and downs of my journey to motherhood so that one day, my babies will see how they were created... with fierce, enduring strength and love.
I hope you find my videos helpful - thanks for stopping by.

My IVF injection routine... take a shot with me! | Preparing for egg retrieval with 3 follicles #ivf
Welcome to my morning IVF shot routine just 4 days before my egg retrieval. This cycle, the ultrasound showed 3 follicles, which is less than last year, but I’m staying hopeful and keeping a positive mindset. I'm practicing letting things go, no matter what happens 💕
First, I start with an injection that prevents me from ovulating too early (so we don’t lose any of those hard-earned follicles!). Then, it’s onto the stimulation shot, which is a mix of LH and FSH. I’ll admit, I’ve had mixed results with this particular medication, but I’m trusting my doctor and giving it another try. 💉
This time around, I’m doing things a little differently, and I thought it’d be nice to just walk you through my 10am shot routine as if you were here with me. Thanks for your support everyone-it means so much to have this community during such a rollercoaster journey.
Let me know in the comments where you’re at in your journey or what shots you are on. Sending love to anyone who’s navigating IVF or fertility treatments! 🫶

Look into the book- “It starts with an egg” it’s imbased off the idea how studies show Mediterranean diets increase the chance for success rates with IVF. You’re in the 10th!! Please be careful. That’s a lot to put your body through.. That many ivfs can cause hyper ovarian stimulation issue. It also creates higher risk of ovarian cancer. I mean why not be open to the idea of donor egg and or adoption? Because that much egg retrievals. I don’t think I can do thatttt much. I’m following the book. Try that.
@@AnnemarieSheridan Hi there, I have that book and I recommend it in my videos already! Yes, it is definitely a lot of rounds of ivf meds but they are lower doses and with DOR there is less of a chance of OHSS. I am open to adoption and looking into it at the same time. I appreciate the concern, but honestly its not very helpful when people tell me to go for adoption or donor eggs while in the middle of IVF already.
Hi Hellynn, I always come back to this video as you are able to pass me strength!! I’m 36 with kind of low AMH and concluded two unsuccessful IVF cycles. Both times we opted for PGT testing and despite having an amazing amount of good looking blastocyst, each time we ended up having only one normal embryo. Still, one healthy embryo means one good chance! The first cycle we did a frozen medicated transfer and it went nowhere. The second time we decided to induce ovulation to create a more natural environment: it ended in a chemical pregnancy and lots of tears. The full platform looked perfect, the embryo was healthy and had implanted, so why it ended up badly? Nobody can answer… I’m in my third IVF cycle now. This time we decided to transfer one fresh embryo, which is untested. The other blastocysts are frozen and I’m waiting the PGT outcome. Given my low rate of healthy embryos, I’m not hopeful anymore. I’m 4 days post fresh transfer and still too early for answers, today I’m also waiting the results of the PGT done on the frozen embryos…

Hi Hellynn, just wanted to thank you for sharing your journey. It is so incredibly brave, especially during your most vulnerable times. I have been following you and your journey on TH-cam since earlier this year. My journey has almost run parallel to yours. I suffered a chemical pregnancy earlier this year around the same time you did. Listening to your soothing voice made me feel much better. I started my journey at 39 yrs old with a 0.5 AMH (my AMH had now increased to 0.86 after supplements). Now I’m 41 and still trying. In additional to my low ovarian reserve, my uterine lining doesn’t get very thick for the ET (less than 7mm), causing my embryos not to stick. I have done 9 IVF cycles and just wanted to let you know something that very much improves my egg number and embryo quality. It’s testosterone gel 1% w/w (Androtas). I primed with testosterone gel for 21 days prior to stimulation during my first cycle in 2022 and the doctor was shocked to see I got 9 eggs, considering my very low AMH levels. I did not PGS test my first cycle and ended up with one chemical pregnancy. My second and third cycles I did not prime with the testosterone gel, I ended up with just two & three follicles and one & two low grade D5 embryos, which I PGS tested, and all were aneuploid. For my 4th cycle, I primed again with testosterone gel for 21 days prior to starting my cycle and I had much more follicles, egg count and my embryos has much better grading and I got 1 euploid d5 embryo, which ended in a chemical pregnancy. For my 5th and 6th cycles I revereted back to DHEA instead of the testosterone gel, and my egg number and embryo grade was horrible again. I got zero euploid embryo’s. My 7th, 8th and 9th cycle I did back to back stimulation cycles using testosterone gel priming again. My egg quantity and D5 embryo numbers and grading greatly improved again and I was also able to bank 1 euploid d5 from each one of those cycles (so now I have 3 euploids banked). I am now in the middle of my embryo transfer with the first of my euploids, 5DPT. 🤞🏼🤞🏼 not testing my beta hcg yet. For me personally having the gel form of testosterone applied to my upper arm for 21 days before stimulation was much more effective in increasing the sensitivity to FSH (+ hCG) stimulation than priming for 2.5 months with 75mg DHEA pills. Sending you lots of love and baby vibes 💕
@@janb1960 hey there, thanks for sharing and for being a part of this community! How did you know if your testosterone was low? I am back on DHEA now after being off it for over a year because my doctor says I should be on it short term (6 wks). I am doing back to back retrievals so it I were to try this, I would have to do it while I am on stims.. does that matter?! Im very intrigued and will research - please reach out to me via email hellynn@zenamie.com or my instagram @ hellynn! Would love to chat. Do you ever worry about the amount of hormones you’re injecting during IVF? I know IVF can be the only option for some people who want a biological child, but I recently read that it might increase the risk of ovarian and breast cancer. Fertility doctors don’t always share those risks, possibly because it’s a lucrative business for both them and the drug companies-especially since many people go through multiple cycles.
of course you worry about it but what other option is there?!
When do we allow ourselves to pause and ask, “When is enough, enough?” Sometimes, I feel so consumed by this one goal. When do we consider using a donor egg? When do we open the door to adoption? It’s so easy to get caught up in the cycles because many of us are naturally determined to keep going, to not give up. But at what point do we acknowledge that this might be causing more harm than good to our well-being?I had a friend who went through 15 cycles, and it ended up taking a greater toll on her well-being and mindset than it did any good. Most women say you’ll know when you’ll know, but I feel like many of us are determined. So is it when the doctor says no more? And when one doctor says No, there’s another saying yes around the corner 😞
@@TN-he8fp please STOP. of course we ask ourselves these questions. maybe YOU dont. or maybe YOU are ASSuming others don't. i feel sorry for you, and your friend, that you think women are so weak minded and delusional.
@@TN-he8fp I decided on egg donation after X number of cycles and retrievals. It was a personal decision that I'm not going to disclose here. We make those decisions when we make those decisions and we make them in the way we decide to make them. I know you're dying to make this into a philosophical or existential dilemma of some sort, but it certainly doesn't have to be. It certainly doen't seem to be the case for most people.
@@TN-he8fp yes, I understand the risks. I will have to manage the best I can and do frequent checkups following ivf.

@@violetatelier2289 Thanks so much!💖 it was 150/75IU. It made me feel so much more bloated than my previous meds. So far I wouldn't say this one is better. Gotta talk to my doctor!
During my 1st ivf I also had uneven folicle growth, resulted in only 2 immatired eggs. I thought it was my fault I didn't react properly to the treatment. My doctor didn't plan to change the next stimulation which surprised me. So if I was in your position and had a hard time making embryos, I would give a shot to any embryo that made it to the stage where it can be implanted and then would just deal with what ever situation arises as it arises.
Thank you
Please do a long video.... we like to listen to you
@@romaniamyland6191 aww… thank you ♥️ it’s coming up friday 🥰
I have been through it and will do my 10th egg retrieval soon. Best of luck! ❤
@@rachelkang5332 sending you lots of luck hon!!! Baby dust💖
Those struggling with ivf. I think best treatment is the one with aspirin and libido and pressures all together
Can you pls tell how many calories were you taking per day when your AMH rose ??
@@askhanofficial6884 i had a normal calorie intake for someone my age! I definitely did not count calories
I had an embryo transfer 8 days ago. Wish me luck.
@@ManuelaJäger-e6t good luck!!! 🍀 wishing you all the good energy!
Talk to your doctor about the mini-IVF protocol. This focuses on getting the quality of the eggs where it should be vs overstimulation to get quantity of eggs. My RE, a Chinese man in New York uses the mini-IVF protocol on his older patients. Less injections, more oral medication to synchronize with the natural hormones developed by our brains, and yeah, way less eggs retrieved like 1 or 2 per cycle and bank them. At 44 and 45 years old they all fertilized and grew into day five/six blastocyst. I’m currently 34 weeks pregnant with one of them.
Amazing! Congratulations! I started IVF with mini IVF last year, but we realized I responded better to regular dose stims. This year I'm doing HIER (highly individualized egg retrievals) and my doctor is prescribing mostly low doses like the minis. BTW, did you PGT test your embryos before transfer? Fresh vs frozen?
@@hellynn_jThat’s great! I did not have them tested and they were frozen transfers. The doctors can prepare a woman’s uterus to receive the embryo (and stick) by thawing a frozen embryo before transferring them to the uterus is what I’ve been told by Dr. Zhang.
@ yes ive only done frozen transfers so far and was thinking of trying fresh!
@@dentistsu29Congratulations! That’s awesome. Did you work with NHFC in NY? Your story encouraged me a lot as I am 45 and doing Mini-IVF. ❤
@@rachelkang5332 Hi yessss! Dr. Zhang at NHFC was my RE there. Hang in there. It’s a journey and a process, but take it one visit at a time. I traveled and hour by train from Princeton, NJ to Manhattan for every single monitoring visits, egg retrievals, and finally for the one and only transfer of two frozen(thawed) embryos. One continued to develop and the other did not. Dr. Zhang and his team are amazing.
I’m glad that you’ve decided to continue with this journey despite your previously failed embryo transfers. I’m 45 and now I’m 34 weeks pregnant following my only transfer of two untested embryos back in early April. My baby is due next month. There is hope and you can definitely do this. Don’t give up - as you are strong and keep believing. I did a lot of acupuncture during the egg retrievals and days before the transfer of my two embryos. Only one of them continued, so I’m pregnant with a single baby boy!
I'm sooooo happy for you. I asked you questions before I saw this comment! That's amazing that you got pregnant without testing at 45! Blessings to you.
@@hellynn_jThank youuu!

Congrats 🙏
Don’t loose hope and keep going. There’s is still hope and it will happen in the right timing for you.
