I’m under no illusion that no body would agree, personally I would take the lump out of the car, get a full top and bottom rebuild, junk the EFI and put twin SU’s on it. Replace the loom with a new one, before launching more cash at tidying it up. From a cynical old man who arrives at my opinions based on experience 😃😃😃😃😃
Hello friend good evening my friend 👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤👋👋👋👋👋
Hey Sheldon, you kindly offered to find out where the wheels were chrome powder coated. Any news on that? thanks James
Very special car needs to be in a garage in the dry. Cars are expensive wate till you pass ur test.
I would keep the efi if the factory put it on i’d keep it
No that's not factory
David is a logical legend! Whatever happened to John who used to help you ?
The two " fuses " are actually festoon bulbs
The Oil gauge going to full reading means something is not earthed properly and is earthing through the gauge. . I'd say the cluster earth connection is either disconnected or dirty.
Those are festoon bulbs holders for lighting not fuses behind the elec window switches & air con control cover
Don't get a red rear indicator it won't comply with UK regulations and car is on the road in the UK now
Rover used genuine Connolly leather for the seats from the factory for P6 and P5 models. Surprisingly even Toyota did for the original RAV4 upto year 2000 !
More than worrying about the sun ruining the seats you should be worrying about all the tat your potentially damaging the back seat with. Stop using this beautiful car as a shed! Get it all out, feed the leather and cover it with soft blankets until you have a more permanent solution sorted out. Great to see some progress with the car 👍
Hi Sheldon. Have you checked you've got the correct ECU for the engine, or even any ECU at all ? I've not heard you mention it as a possible non start/run cause, and they're easily spiked by any electrical shorts or wrong wiring. It should be a flat box about 5x5x1 inches, with a large multi pin plug. See if you can find it. On the 4x4's, they're usually in the cabin/ under the drivers seat area, so it could be on a long cable on the engine loom, mounted well away from the P6 engine bay. There are a few ECU variants, depending on the year and type of injection system. The engine will fire up with fuel poured in, but nothing on the engine will work properly if it's ECU is faulty or missing. The EFi fuel pump is similar to a carburettor SD1, but bigger/ more pressure, and needs a regulated flow. They need to be completely submerged in fuel at all times, or they will run hot, and then the rubber vane pump sticks. They'll only pump fuel when correctly polarity connected. You can easily free a sticking one by running WD40 through as you power it both ways on a 12V battery a few times.
Shouldn’t it be LHD if it was sold in the US?
Happy days !! Never messed with firm injection but if the car had fuel injection from factory then really it’s got to stay. Hopefully you can get everything working for it to run off the pump 👍
There is never any proof this car had it more speculation so it's going.
Hi shelden have you taken your test now? Great content by the way 👍
Brilliant! Fixing an advanced high performance car on the side of the road! Fantastic. Sounds great
Great news as it appears the engine is mechanically sound.
Get a Malpassi fuel regulator, the only one that really works, plus a low pressure fuel pump.
Noted thanks!
Filter king fuel pressure regulator
Thanks Mini
When you replace fuses and bulbs, use a small amount of dielectric grease.
You will have to remove that ignition key assembly and remove the back of the broken switch, it's easier than you might think, it should be held in by one, or two tiny machine screws, which are accessible from the sides
David is a real hero, wiring can be such a PITA. When I do wiring, I have the same look on my face as Dave!
Hahaha yes indeed we are going to take all the EFI more hassle then it's worth!
That ignition switch is basically the same design as Land Rover and Triumph, other than the way the cables are connected
Those rear bumpers, and bumper arms are so fragile! My Dad went throughout several sets
So exciting to here her start brilliant video
Yeah we were surprised!
I have a North American Stag with the warning buzzer. It is decidedly not cool. Disconnect it NOW. You have had all the fun you'll ever have with it. If you don't it will drive you nuts from here on.😊
hahaha ok I will take your word for it!
I’d put the rally’s back on. Just saying it’s a beautiful car
Yes, I agree That is a festoon bulb I reckon
Hi Sheldon, for a buzzer for keys, doors, seatbelts etc. check if a n.a. version MGB seat belt buzzer would fit because moss motors us has those . Possibly also used on US eBay
Hi Sheldon glad you got it going sounded good, looking forward to the carb swap cheers 🥂
Love David’s beautiful logic, as always! “Or seat covers?” Yes that would definitely be easier 😂👍🏻
16:12 Those are bulbs not fuses. Either 5 or 10W. 😊
Yep realised after I filmed it lol
If the EFI on that is anything like the Bosch Jetronic of the era that got fitted to VW, Porsche, Saab, and Volvo cars - it's unreliable and will continue to give you grief after every time you get it running.
This system is very reliable but it's just so messy it's not worth it
I work on Djet all the time and it's really reliable , considering some of the systems I touch are 50+ years old . Theres a very good site for Djet owners where all of the info ever needed can be found.
I would day they are bulbs behind the heater panel not fuses
Yep your right
I reckon that spider on the rear headrest is a Micheal Flatley supporter !!!😊
Hey up mate take the EFI stuff off and keep Dave happy but don't sell it and maybe fit it later, if you do, the car will be quicker to enjoy
I won't be keeping the EFI were going to strip it all out and out it back on carbs.
No turkey basters were harmed in the making of this video lol.
Hi Sheldon I am the UK 🇬🇧 representative for The SNAKE OIL Co , how dare you SLUR are great reputation for providing useless fuel injectors cleaning fluids , see you in court !!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂 I bet your heart stopped for a second 😂👌🏻😎
PPPFFFF LOL
Until you saw the English 'are reputation' which should have read 'our reputation' and all credibility went out through the quarterlight 😅@@classic_britain
They are not fuses above the air con panel. They are festoon bulbs
Is this one a keeper?
I think so yes
"....stupidly rare Tryplex roofs..." ...stupidly rare pronunciation. The Brand of glass was named TripleXXX. VERY common on British cars' glass for donkeys.... Obviously pronounced as spelled.
No need for your foul language.
Have you passed your driving test yet?
You need to put the fuel gauge wire to earth as you did the oil pressure wire to see if the gauge/ wiring is ok, it’s not live, cheer’s good luck
Rolls had to do that kinda stuff to there cars to
I am also lactose intolerant too and rapeseed gives me alarming gut trouble too. An yes it has screwed what I can eat, adding a violent onion intolerance.
get a reflective tint for the roof.
Why is it you can’t drive on the road ?
I have a 1970 NADA Spec P6 3500. The under bonnet light is factory. The braking system shares many parts with a USA spec Jag XKE. he dual system Master and slave cylinder are the same as well as the power brake vacuum booster. Moss Motors here in the USA has all of these parts. I put the ZF trans into my as as well. It made a huge difference. I have a 4 liter in mine with a 4 choke Holly carburetor. The air conditioning is wonderful here in California in the summer. Lots of video about my car on my channel EJH British Cars.
hahaha I know we have spoken before on your channel!
Sheldon you would be deep in it if it wasn't for old school David wish he lived up my street lol you owe him more than a pint or 2
