So acouple things in this video at the time we did not know the car had been fiberglassed and undersealed but in fairness it was still very solid car but it did need sils and some jacking points. As for me keeping it my situation has changed since I made this video and Cup cost me way more then I ever imagined it would so it will be sold to get my money back! Hope that clears things up.
Sheldon I’m completely confused. This was liberated around 2 years ago (I follow Colin’s channel) yet you uploaded this like it was last week? Have you footage of the car being restored elsewhere because you hint that you are selling it 🤷♂
My second car in 1978 was a 1974 V8 3500 P6 in tobacco brown. Just like this, I sold it a few years later for the SDi V8. The SDi was like junk in comparison they kinda lost the build quality, and definitely, the doors never closed like the old ones. I miss that old monster, so much lol.
Yeah I agree, how stupidly amateur of them. Bet the owner was spinning in his grave. Moral of the story folks, move anything & everything from around the vehicle before attempting to move it. Don't be lazy, or you'll just end up damaging it and that will cost you more time and money in the long run.
In the 70s I was lawyer training with a solicitors in Hertfordshire. I had only recently passed my driving test and had to go to St. Albans Crown court on short notice. I didn’t have a car so the senior partner told me to take his Rover TC auto which was the same colour brown as your recent acquisition. I had never driven an auto or a car with power steering! I felt a million dollars.
The dark brown paint has helped it survive too , I’ve noticed this on other cars painted in that colour (including rover p6’s) that I’ve liberated over the years - great find . That guy was DEFINATELY a ROVER man! 🇬🇧

Just goes to show you can never be 100% sure how bad a car is when laid up, it sure did look good after it came out of hibernation. Nail biting stuff on the way out 💅😊
I had one back in the early 80s, looks to be the same colour if its Mexico brown? Mine was a 74/N reg brings back memories! The steering wheel was different to this one though! Mine rotted out around the rear radius arm. There is nothing like it driving along with the windows down! Beautiful cars.
I live quite near Cheadle in Cheshire and took the train there one day to collect my car after having some work done. My route from the station took me right past what must have been these cars, spread around a suburban garden at the end of a cul-de-sac I think it was. They obviously caught my attention - this would have been a few years before their sale. It’s fascinating to hear the back story and to follow the restoration.
Ford Escort new in 2014?! I don't think so! Anyway..cool vid Sheldon...shame it didn't quite turn out as solid as it first appeared. I've had fiar share of so called 'minters' that were anything but. Cue the paper mashe & biscuit tin 'repairs' bodges...yeah...i've had a lot of that when i first started out buying & driving old cars. :)
Looks like a nice solid car, dont forget to check the (real) sills though. I had a paprika 75 V8s in 1980, lovely car but the rear inner arches had already started to bubble then!
Absolutely amazing stuff. I love videos like this. P.S. Can you please tell me the title of that music bit you used ?? Been trying to find it for ages !! Wow. I couldn't believe it when I clicked on this video and it started as you entered the garage. You have my Sub and a thumbs up too. 👍
Nice rover, probably worth £30,000 restored but it could cost more than that to restore, so really for a really dedicated enthusiast with the cash to do it.
Gosh you had me in shock just at the mention that you have a CAREER 😂 never mind the actual car 😏 does look amazing though and well done on finding it, OMG 😳 Cup ? Mug ? Wow such a clever link 😉👌🏻.
I'm sure there must be a medical condition for buying cars and storing them until you don't have any more space to store any more. I think I have the same problem but only have a double garage that only has two vehicle, one of those is a P6B. There was a guy who lived down the road from me, had a Rolls Royce parked in the front garden and five other cars in the back garden, also had a couple of lock ups with some Jags in them. As is the norm, he died before any of them ended up back on the road. Just something to think of if you have ended up in this position. You can't take them with you, someone always has the hassle sorting out your business after the grim reaper calls.
Plenty of folk do it though don't they. The biggest problem here is that Sheldon wants to restore all of these with good intentions. Nothing wrong with that. But the reality is that he doesn't have the finances to do it, these cars are big money to restore, several thousands is not an exaggeration. He also has no workshop facilities, and you cannot restore a car by the side of a road. So most people that have this status will likely just store them.
@@classic_britain It's been in the garage 17 years, working on it now, should be on the road in August or so. It's a series 1. 1968, number 825 off the assembly line. My daily driver is a 2015 Land Rover Defender but it cost me £12.50 every time I move off the driveway. The Rover is ULEZ exempt as it's classed as a classic vehicle and is also MOT and TAX free. Now Khan has got back in for another four years, expect fee to go up to £15 plus very soon.
@classic_britain I'm glad to hear that. Quick question then, why not run it as an everyday car, that way you can enjoy a P6, and won't need to continue to buy old wrecks ..
Like any car you never know what a classic car is really like in a dark garage plus you never now and you found out the hard way Im glad im a welder fabricator of 25 years and done many repairs on cars but me i would have one project and it would use it every day and wouldn't be just taken out just know and then you can't have loads of projects as costs alot and if you haven't got a good garage and all the tools then you have less of a change i have the tools and i can use a friends unit to do a project when i get one but im retro fords or vauxhalls not cheap
Very difficult to store cars this long in an unheated concrete garage. You may have a fighting chance to keep some level of condition in a car if you park them on cardboard sheets and possibly even surround them with cardboard. This is because concrete causes condensation in prolonged cold weather. But very long term car storage would probably involve some for of heating...
