      @@classic_britain I dont think more content is needed. I figure I pay 10 pounds a month for a classic car mag, read a couple of articles, your channel offers much more than that. Its interesting and entertaining and also helpful when working on the car. Putting it like that definitely 10 quid a month. Still not an income but some support

    A blessing in disguise I'd say, that you were forced to delve a little. Imagine, you could have (were) running it with a blocked gallery, at least you've rectified that issue and it's nice and clear now. Apart from the clicking, the engine did previously sound pretty healthy. I get a vibe that it's going to be sweet once you've finished. The journey of a thousand miles begins.... and all that jazz!
    Great progress Sheldon despite your health, nice and steady eddie wins the day! 👍😎

    Sheldon my mum suffered with IBS for years until she met a new doctor that prescribed a low dose of codeine. It's not a cure but it enables you to have a more normal life. Good luck and great channel.

    Hi 👋🏻 I forgotten your name so apologies, I can help if you take note. Think of me as your stringent workshop manager lol , you have accidentally diagnosed your ill running issue that you believe to be carburettor related, it's been sucking air in on 2 ports on the valley gasket. Well done for unblocking the coolant galley you prevented head gasket failure, remember to check the other side 😉. Right now, don't under any circumstances buy new parts. Yes you need a new valley gasket, okay you probably would change the items you fore mentioned if you were doing a rebuild. You can't fit new machined parts against old ones. By changing tappets you would also need to change the cams and the push rods and ball studs on your rocker arms so don't get into that. Yes I was screaming at you when you removed the pushrods as they are now all mixed up, have to let you off lol . The cause of your problem is carbon gum round the tappet and it's housing, carburettor cleaner and fine scotch brite will remove it . Might as well clean them all while you're there, plenty of clean oil , straighten that pushrod , find a second hand one or buy just the one. Are they all bent ? No , flat surface roll them, if slightly bent straighten on flat surface with hammer . Adjust the valve clearance and you be good to go 100 mph . Stanley knife blade on upright on edge to clean the intake and head . Don't scrape at any angle other than 90 or it will dig in damage the alloy. Soak all your hose clips in WD wriggle back and forth until free, take apart and wire brush them up, again oil . Push the hoses back on if they no longer reach you buy a short piece from the local factors and use a joiner . Genuine trying to help you , do what I say and save £500 . 👍🏻

    A future classic, well done. PS - and don't want to delve into your personal life too much, had a friend who was crippled with IBS, could not believe the effect it had on him and the weird foods that would set it off - in the end it all came down to stress and changing his lifestyle and learning to relax were his cure. Think about it please - do you tend to worry a lot?

    You did the right thing pulling the inlet manifold off. You needed to get to the root cuse of the bent pushrod. It should be fine once you've put it all back together with the necessary replacement parts. I know how you feel when a job escalates. What started off as rear discs and pads replacement on my Mercedes turned into a complete rear brake rebuild with new parking brake shoes, caipers and backing plates on top of the discs & pads.

    A bent pushrod is often caused by a valve stuck in the valve stem [usually in the closed position]. It would be very rare for a lifter [tappet] to cause a bent pushrod. A couple of years ago I had a Koln V6 2.3 with a misfire [not run in 25 years] , and it was a valve stick slightly open. Easy to sort out when identified .

    You would be much better off using a socket on the Jubilee clips after a squirt if WD.

    Excellent footage. I know how broke you are but surely this is the type of video that will attract more subscribers, more views, more donations and maybe a few tips here and there of where to get some cheap parts. You will also improve your skills and knowledge on these cars and this will put you in good stead for future projects. Depending on how much funds you eventually manage to raise, I think even just replacing the single pushrod, having a general cleanup and carefully putting it all back together again will make a huge difference and it should run so much better. And anyone buying it will have a clear idea of what needs to be done to get the engine back to peak condition.

    The state of that valley gasket would explain several running issues potentially. Make sure you measure the push rods before ordering one. Wins was my favourite supplier.

    Hi Sheldon I'd just replace the push rod, it needs new gasket and few hoses and bobs your uncle, it seems the more you dig into it the more money 💷 it needs lol 😂 cheers 🥂

    Full top end rebuild needed. Please be extra careful - alloy heads are easily ruined. Use all new parts or the engine will be scrap.

    When you took the inlet manifold off, was the corresponding port also blocked with crap? Also I'm not sure you didn't bend the gasket material lifting it away from the head face. That material is quite robust, never seen that sort of damage before, unless Stevie Wonder fitted it.

    • @classic_britain

      No only 1 port was blocked up odd I know! And no it was not me who bent it.

    • @BrianM0OAB
      @BrianM0OAB 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      it got bent when the manifold got put down again, if it was a previous owner then it would of been pefectly flat due to the two mating surfaces squashing it flat, plus I very much doubt the engine would even run at all with such massive leaks plus it would of made a major vacuum noise on that bank, on the upside I have a complete 3.5ltr V8 sitting on the engine stand in the workshop that requires new liners so it is toast, so many spare parts available going tweet tweet cheap, pushrods 10p each.
