Two weeks with your mom and two weeks with your girlfriend and her boyfriend. ??????? Wth
The pain uptick just happened to me at my 10 month mark! ALIF L5-S1. I hope it resolves like yours
Thanks for this! I just had laminectomy with Tlif and PSF L4 L5 on 1/16 and still in constant pain and discomfort...depressed mode..since I've workout for 25 years....my follow up with physician will be this coming Friday 2/7....
Why did you felt the need for hip replacement? Was it because of fusion surgery? Plz
Best tip (from someone whose had many spine surgeries) I can offer is to ask whether you your ALIF can be done stand alone or if it needs supplemental posterior fixation. Stand alone eliminates the second surgery from the back but if you need realignment, then stand alone may not be possible. Stand alone (STALIF) requires a different kind of cage. Second best tip is to practice log rolling in and out of bed, ateast one week before surgery.
I hope you're doing well now? I had my surgery in May 24, most days I'm fine but 4 days ago i had pain both sides of my buttocks and in my lower back, did you experience this and did it get better? I also have both hip replacements.
Hi Chris! Thanks so much for all of these videos. I'm having the "360" in 3 days, 12/16/24. I'm feeling pretty good about having it done, and looking forward to relieving the chronic pain. I'm ready for a couple painful weeks, but hopeful for a positive outcome. You're a great person for sharing your experiences, and also very handsome! Thanks again! -Ken
Not a very good tittle
I had L3-L5 fusion 9/20/24. 3 weeks out the pain was unbearable. Turns out an abscess formed at L4 epidural space. I had to have emergency surgery to eradicate the abscess. What followed was 6 weeks of IV antibiotics and currently 6 weeks of oral antibiotics. Infections can happen with surgeries involving prosthetic devices implanted in your body. Hopefully this is the only setback I will have.
Hi thanks for sharing with us! Makes other ppl who are are or had been through similar experiences feel seen and understood . Its been 2 years of chronic pain journey for me and during that process a lot "friends" bc I wasn't fun anymore, but I also meet new great ppl who support me emotionally throughout my journey ... I thankfully recently got a official diagnosis( Si joint dysfunction and surgery), 3 week post op already so your story helps me to stay motivated! Best wishes for you 😊🤍
What was the original injury?
Stay strong
Why doesn't any talk about wiping?
click-Bate
I guess your surgeon forgot to metion Adjacent segment disease where your disc above or below break down at a much faster rate because of the extra stress put on them from fusing two vertebra together . I must of missed it also . Good luck to you 5 years down the road. Be extra careful with your back now its gotta last you awhile
Sounds like a win win situation
Hard to hear over the music
3 weeks out today from 345 fusion with cysts taken out along with bone spurs. Walked 2.5 milrs today . Still have nerve and muscle pain yhst us slowly getting better. Thsnk you yoing man!
I have both hips replaced and in May 2024 had a ALIF fusion, I still have discomfort in my lower back and wondered how long will this last?
This was going great till the music started 🖐😢
4 or 5 years goes by really quick
What they don't tell you is the more levels they fuse the faster the ones above or below go bad
That's what my surgeon keept doing for me when my pain keept coming back, then after about 6 months they said to me we can no longer help you.. but if you need a pain stimulator implanted we can do that.. now 5 years later l4 has blown out from adjacent segment disease along with all the faucet joints😂🤣🤑🤑🥵 Now they are saying we can fix that with another Fusion 🥳🥳
I had L3-L5 fused last year, but in 2 months I have these to be extended with L1-L2, so I will have 10 screws in total in the back. This video is very helpfull for everyone having a fusion done
Hang in there man! Totally ridiculous but hard things are hard! I'm in Chennai India recuperating after my left hip high performance dual mobility hip reconstruction by the great Dr Vijay Bose at the SIMS hospital. He did my right hip 12 years ago, hip was resurfaced which has been fabulous. I was expecting when I went under that the left hip would be resurfaced as well but woke up to the news (Sept 3rd 2024) that the head of the femur couldn't be saved. I was devastated hearing this but once heard the details of the dual mobility I've come to accept it and plan to test it to it's limits with my active lifestyle. Point is man, never give up! Patch it up with duc tape if you have to and keep on truck'n. Grateful we live in a time where we can repair body parts like auto mechanics repair shocks! It hurts man, but everyday there's improvement. That feels really good. Stay strong!
You are most certainly NOT selling me on this. I have to have L5-S1 ALIF with Perc Screws, which will likely take place before the end of October, but probably sooner. I've tried every alternative to avoid surgery, but I seem to be all out of options now. NOTHING is working anymore. I was so hopeful when I first started getting injections, because after I received the first round, and after approximately two weeks it took for the injection to kick in start working, I was totally pain free for three solid months. Well, I did stub my toe once, so I guess not TOTALLY pain free. However, I thought, (as the angels sang in harmony) I had found the solution, and could simply repeat it every three months all the way to my eventual grave. Then I got the second round, and it took an entire three weeks to start working, and for an entire month I was pain free, but then it was right back to that same old constant debilitating pain, often hovering between a 7 and 8 on the pain scale, with an occasional SURPRISE!!!, spiking it to a 10, you know, just to make sure you're paying attention to nothing except the pain and not breaking the rules by trying to ignore. I thought, did he miss or something? Did he use a home brew drug he bought from some shady looking character behind an abandoned gas station, and simply got scammed? Then I got my third injection. Surely after the conversation we had just ten minutes prior about the importance of property technique and sniper like precision, combined with a top shelf medication that so fresh that it still has that new drug smell, this one is certainly going to work at least as well as the first shot. So, after leaving his office I waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, but she never called. I mean, I spent a forth of my paycheck taking her to dinner, and even splurged for two desserts so her cat could join in the fun, yet not so much as a freakin phone call to say, "hey thanks for taking me to Arby's, but sorry, I don't think we're going to work out." Hold on. Wait, what are we talking about? Opps, sorry, I had a couple of open screens and two comments going at the same time. My bad~😊 In any event, that too is a pretty good description of my experience with the third shot, so yeah... NOTHING! Anyway, so now I'm staring down both the barrels of this surgery, because at about half the time I'm in so much pain I can't even drive two miles to the grocery store, or help my wife out by dropping our kid at school. Often the only relief I can find is to lay flat on my back on the hard floor while staring at the ceiling, and that's no way to live. You know, spiders and stuff. I had both of my knees replaced three years ago, and though that experience I learned a valuable lesson. There's A WHOLE LOT they seem to intentionally neglect to tell you. Which is probably for good reason, because if they TRUTHFULLY described what you were in for, I bet half the people wouldn't show up on surgery day. So now I'm fearing this is much the same, because I seem to be hearing a lot of people saying something to the effect of, "I had the spinal fusion surgery because I was in so much pain. Now after three months after the surgery I'm still in pain, but I'm so glad I had the surgery." WTF!!!😮 So now I'm left wondering, maybe if I can find a good opium dealer somewhere in town, that might be a better option. Thoughts?
I heard you say you’re still using Tramadol occasionally 6 months post op. Did your surgeon give you a hard time about this?
About to have an ALIF. Thank you for being so positive and helpful. Too many videos are negative, and depressing. You gave me a much needed positive outlook!
So we wont be able to bend after this surgery how do we work, can we travel what about dating can we still have sex with women. jesus christ what the hell has happened if i get this surgery. no flexibility ever again
These are good tips, some I wouldn’t even have thought about. I’m looking into getting scoliosis corrected so these are great tips 😊
Im officially 2 years out of alif, a year out from bone spurs cleaning and 4 months out of plif surgery. 0 pain meds after all procedures since the pain post procedure was less than the chronic prior. After 8 weeks from the plif ive returned back to work without restrictions, i have been working 60-70 hrs a week i am a technician at a dealership (mechanic) ive noticed any bending without weight severe pain at the procedure site thatll radiate for a few days. Any weather change or roughly once a week i get these sharp stabbing pains throughout my lower back, my glutes and my leg and foot have numbness and pains with 24/7 muscle spasms with 2-3 charlie horses a day between center lower foot and calf. Im a grandfather/father to stepchildren and grand children as well as a self proclaimed best uncle and i have no drive outside of work with the chronic pain, although feeding 3 families and bill support to the children i cant afford to slow down. Aside from taking pain meds do you have any recommendations or do you think quell can help?
OMGGGG ‼️ I almost skipped this video just by the title alone 😨🤗
Your definitely not alone when it comes to age and joints failing. I am 46 and just had my right hip replaced, and my left needs to be done as well I have had 4 knee surgeries all Orthoscopic, my right ankle which was my most painful and invasive surgery before my hip left wrist surgery. Both of my knees will probably have to be replaced within the next 5 years, my left is bone on bone since both sides of my meniscus had to be removed because they were too bad to repair. And finally my back has more bad than good parts left. The biggest thing that sucks is knowing that I will have to go through this hip replacement again on my right, the best thing about it is having a great orthopedic surgeon that knows I will feel better soon then I have in years when this is all over with. Inflammation in these major joints caused by arthritis is not good for the whole body I'm finding out. It can cause a certain type of anemia called anemia of chronic inflammation also called anemia of chronic disease it affects every bit of your well being, so although the surgeries to fix these problems suck it is well worth it in the long run. Good luck on your bionic journey hope it's gone well for you and your back to doing the things you enjoyed before.
Had both knees replaced in 2018 (right) and 2020 (left). Left hip was replaced in May 2023. Right hip will be replaced tomorrow 9/5. Also in my future is a left reverse shoulder replacement. My 3rd defibrillator was implanted in March 2024. I just turned 70
Hey bro I feel even worse, four years ago when to doctor because out of the blue I couldn’t use my right leg, I had been working as mainly restaurants for about 39 years in the kitchen most of the time which means freezer 10 minus zero to get frozen, walk in around 35 degrees and worst kitchen line close to 150 plus, so that did not help the situation when doctor saw the x rays, beginning I questioned why he wanted both knees and both hips , gets what he asked me how I was working in that condition, right hip destroyed, left one almost gone and both knees were shot, I had 3 surgery in a year and half right hip, left knee, right knee all replaced, no problem with the left and after a year my left hip pain I couldn’t even walk out my bed in constant pain, no sleep even worse tha😢my original problem right hip. Now I’m looking forward trying to get my life back, sorry for my long story, my reality , worked so hard now I have metal implants
Think of how your replacement is doing and how you will benefit from getting the other one done not worth being in pain.
@bionicliving I have recently found your videos and I appreciate your insight and positivity. I’m about to have ALIF PLIF of L4, L5, S1. How did you manage incision pain with a back brace?
How old are you? Are you pain free with your spinal fusion?
Have you read 'Healing back pain' by Dr John Sarno, give it a read if you havent. An important book for those with back issues.
Mate , I’ve had two hip replacements buddy was a runner all my life, military 25 yrs Royal Marine commando, so my issue my back , now I’m going’s to have surgery my legs were terrible with pain , static
I understand where you are coming from. Left hip replacement, just had my right hip done, lower back fused, plate in neck to stabilize vertebrae, 2nd surgery on both shoulders coming soon. You got this.
Have I missed new videos from you? Looking forward to more content. 🙂
I had my plif surgery and laminectomy 6 months ago. The first two months was so hard...i cried almost every day, but it became better gradually. Now, i am all good. The back pain has gone, but the stitch is still scratchy (i can ignore it). I am now able to drive one hour to work every day and do the office work without difficulties. I hope you all have good health
Hey Kris! It's your friend Skip in Palm Springs. Glad you are able to keep in good spirits after all you have gone through so far. Since you are looking for ideas for future videos, one idea that would be interesting and helpful to speak on is what are your coping strategies to stay positve and upbeat when the body does not want to heal within a desired timeline and/or how to you come to grips with your body not being able to do what it used to. In my situation, Im beginning to cross over into ongoing and sometimes sporadic chronic pain which is making it difficult to do the things I used to do such as heavy weight training, swimming, and hiking. To make a long story short and after consulting with 5 neurosurgeons and 2 orthopedic surgeons for low back pain and sciatica, it was discovered the root of my pain is attributed to inflammatory arthritis. I was referred to a Rheumatologist who is helping me get thru the situation but now my new normal is chronic pain mainly in the hip and glutes ( sacroilitis). Another issue, is getting used to and coping with aging and not looking and feeling my best since I can't pump iron the way I used to. I turn 58 this month and feel like im 80😂. Take care Kris.
Thank you for the positive spirit! I'm glad to hear you found a way to deal with new pain in the shoulder. I'm a little over 9 months out of my L5S1 fusion and I still have limitations and pain - not all the time and not always the same, but enough to bother me. I cannot work a full day without resting 30-60 minutes (on my back) halfway through. Pain is almost 100% nerve related: stabbing at irregular intervals in buttocks and back of thigh/knee/calves, burning/tingling/loss of sensation in foot. It's not predictable and pain shifts from one place to the next, then disappears for a few minutes, then comes back. You had mentioned in an earlier video that it took you 2 years to get rid of this nerve pain. Any medication that helped you? I'm using celecoxib or (rarely) prednisone, but I did not tolerate the nerve pain medications such as neurontin very well. Thanks!
Hi.. had l4 l5 fusion in Jan 2024.. so 7 months.. still pain on back.. pain on left side.. going around to front and into groin. And according to Dr pain going down to Testicle. Still on tamadol 50mg slow release .pregabilin.. and when bad the yramadol drops.. still under physio.. know the ups and downs.. got out of bed this morning feelinh great. 1hr after ready for paon meds
H ow did you wipe your butt
Well the way you are providing info is amazing. I will tell you… without complication it took my pain to become bearable over 2 years after my surgery. Now I cannot believe it’s true that the pain and weakness in my right leg is gone. I will say my right leg isn’t “normal” but it’s for sure tolerable and livable. Our bodies and spirits find a way. You got this!! Sending you all the light and healing vibes my bionic friend.
@bionic_living Thank you 'Bionic Friend'! 💚
I had 360 with laminectomy on 5/14/24. My back incision developed a horrific wound that had me with wound vac, hydrobaric oxygen chamber treatments...ending with a PICC Line as my wound became septic. I still have the PICC Line, did you go through any of this? Thanks!
First of all. Thank you for being so brave and sharing your experience with complication and infection. How are you feeling now? Did the back pain get better aside from the infection? My surgery site healed and closed well. I couldn’t imagine going thru this. You must be a very strong person.
@bionic_living Thank you so much for the kind, reassuring words. I've tried to handle it with my chin up, but had many days I didn't smile. The Infectious Disease Dr feels my pain is a good sign, but I saw my surgeon this past Tuesday and he isn't convinced. He said the hardware looks great and on paper the surgery was a success, but thinks it may be a failure from pain perspective...which is why we all go though this, to stop the pain. He said we won't know until I'm 7-9 months post. Thank you for sharing your journey, I enjoy your perspective. Thanks!
I'm adjusting technique in my work as a group exercise instructor.. I had fusion T10 to S1
Thanks for sharing! What are some movements you avoid?
