Thank you chris for this video i am at 10 months after fusion surgery had many set backs too lately has gotten worse but continue on . Going to try quell still in chronic pain but your right still glad i did the surgery. Doing much more than before surgery. Any thing on chronic pain to encourage would be great. It took me 2 years for the majority of my pain to go away. Good luck with the Quell. Maybe acupuncture can help as well. For me in hindsight I was I had more patience. I hope the pain subsides soon for you.
Awesome!! Glad to hear you are on glide path to recovery. Thanks for the advice on the QUELL device. Remember life is a battle and you can never give up. Keep fighting the good fight.
Wow so nice to find your channel, nice to meet you on such a positive note too! Sounds like you’ve been on quite the journey, it’s a very inspiring story 🙏
That’s great Chris!! I love how you said it ok need to change your relationship with Pain!! How accurate! And you’re looking great, how are you working out/ training now? Just Pilates (which is great in itself!) This is hopeful for me considering I’m only at 5 months since my surgery, and I had put my fusion of for 18 long and painful years! God bless and positive vibes your way!! -Adam
Hello fellow bionic friend. Just wait for my next video. The news is good!!! Aside from Pilates, I try to also incorporate a lot of my old PT exercises with basic pull ups, push-ups, squats with only body weight. Just recently I started added some light weight. Sometimes I use my friends peleton app and do a 30 min ride on a spin home at the gym . I recommend to start with low impact rides and work your way from there. If I don’t cycle, I swim which is the best for us bionics. Remember I am farther ahead in my recovery. Take it slow please. Lastly, I do walk TONS thanks to having a dog. How are you feeling now? And what do you do for activity currently?
@@bionic_living Hey that’s great! Well I’m located in Pennsylvania currently though I will be relocating out to Arizona this winter, but I really love walking outside now but I’m just starting to get back into weight training to put some of my body mass back on. I’ve been bodybuilding for 25 years and I’m just so excited to lift again. I’ve been feeling pretty good overall from day today but as soon as it gets cold my back in the hardware hurts a lot. Interesting that day-to-day is so different, did you experience that? -Adam
I had one year anniversary in April from an l5/s1 fusion for isthmic spondy. Very good surgeon, but the physiatrist told me many people have pain even though the problem of my pars defect and disc replacement has been fixed. I was not allowed to do PT until 6 mos after the one level fusion. I was doing much better from the PT …then had another medical problem and couldn’t do PT after 6 mos. of PT. Now I’ve been cleared for PT again , but I am discouraged to have back pain after a major surgery. It did get rid of the leg pain.
Hey Chris, I just wanted to thank you for putting out these videos. Its inspiring to see you in such an upbeat mood despite all your chronic pain. Also, thank you for pointing me to the Quell device. It looks very promising.
The Quell is quite helpful. I would order the package with the most electrodes. You change those every two weeks. I did not order many and recently ran out. I am waiting for more to come and struggling without the device for a few days.
Im officially 2 years out of alif, a year out from bone spurs cleaning and 4 months out of plif surgery. 0 pain meds after all procedures since the pain post procedure was less than the chronic prior. After 8 weeks from the plif ive returned back to work without restrictions, i have been working 60-70 hrs a week i am a technician at a dealership (mechanic) ive noticed any bending without weight severe pain at the procedure site thatll radiate for a few days. Any weather change or roughly once a week i get these sharp stabbing pains throughout my lower back, my glutes and my leg and foot have numbness and pains with 24/7 muscle spasms with 2-3 charlie horses a day between center lower foot and calf. Im a grandfather/father to stepchildren and grand children as well as a self proclaimed best uncle and i have no drive outside of work with the chronic pain, although feeding 3 families and bill support to the children i cant afford to slow down. Aside from taking pain meds do you have any recommendations or do you think quell can help?
Wow. Checking out the Quell. I’ve had 7 orthopedic surgeries, with the fusion upcoming and knee replacement following. It’s pricey, but would be so worth it. I just checked it out. By the way, do you do visualization?
The quell was so hopeful. I honestly don’t currently use that much anymore as my nerve pain has subsided. And yes to visualization, what do u recommend?
@@bionic_living I write in a journal every morning, about how I want my ideal life to be, my ideal day to be, how I want to feel, etc. And I just just visualize that every day, at different times of the day. Also, I have an app called Think Up. Do you know it? I’ve recorded some of my visualizations there, my favorite ones and then I play them back, a few times a day if I can until the picture becomes a very strong vision. I have created whole big life changes with this technique.
Hey Chirs just came across your channel. 2 weeks ago I had the exact surgery you had along with same symptoms pars defect and disk issue same locations. How long can you drive your car? and are you still taking pain medication? I thank you in advance for your answers! Keep making videos, it motivates me because I still suffer a lot. See you soon and I wish you that your pain stops!
I am actually feeling even better now. I drive about 20 minutes to work. And get numb in my right leg towards the end of the drive. I use my Quell device when driving and it really helps. I can sit for about an hour. I finally can enjoy going out to eat with friends!! I take ibuprofen or Tylenol here and there for pain. I recently had to take a long flight and I took a tramadol and a Xanax along with wearing my Quell device to make sure I wasn’t trapped in pain during the four hour flight. I hope we continue to improve but I believe our pain with always be an up and down journey.
