    I live in Nairobi Kenya and just had a spinal fusion L5-S1 surgery and one Laminectomy right here in kenya.i am approx 45 days post surgery and recovering very well. Just walking around 45 mins total every day and simple easy stretches to keep my mobility. No pain from the Stenosis any more. Just a little from the surgery itself. Wonderful to be walking around almost normal

    Thanks for sharing your post op journey. I had my surgery about 10 weeks ago. I was very discouraged at my lack of progress - so many of the videos say they were back to normal in just a few weeks. My surgeon said it can take a year or so. I appreciate you!

      YOU GOT THIS MARTIE!! Hmmmm.... I don't even remember 10wks. Lemme think: I was still off work and at home. I was still respecting my BLT. But was on my own at home at that point and walking the dog with my special "spinal fusion pooper scooper". LOL. Godspeed.

    2 days until my ALIF PLIF L5 S1, my disc is shot central protrusion, pain shifts in either SI joint, and burning across my left quad. Quite bummed out as I had completed a marathon a couple years ago and was maintaining running 5ks weekly, reduced my running and picked up gravel cycling and was riding over 70 miles a week. 36 has been a rough year. I hope I can return to cycling, I can be done with running. Nerve pain sucks!
    Your videos are encouraging. Thank you

      Update, 12 hours after surgery. Wow unless it's the nerve blocker working miracles I feel great. I had some complications but maybe a blessing in disguise. When they flipped me for the PLIF I had a major blood vessel against the nerve as to the root of my issue and pain with SI joints/nerves. Luckily they were only able to insert the cage through the ALIF as there was enough space. No PLIF, no screws or rod. I feel like a new man, I got 3 20 minute walks in today and expect to ditch the walker tommorow. Nerve pain no more at the moment, just a little incision pain . I hope recovery goes as well as today.

      This is awesome!!! My nerve pain came back full throttle days later and was horrendous for about the following 3 months. Remember tho, I had drop foot and my nerve was severed by bone on bone contact. So the regeneration took some time and was intense! I hope it stays quiet on your front. These ALIF procedures do wonders. All my nerve pain is completely gone now. Thank god. And godspeed to a solid recovery for u!

      Same boat! I used to be such an athlete. Now I have to switch gears and find other outlets to feed that fire. I hope to give an update vid soon. I recently went to Lake Tahoe and did all the things. It was a boost for my moral and good news for anyone like us who have suffered from dehabilitating (not sure this is a word) back pain.

      I am overall doing great. I thought I would be more pain free. But to be honest, I am able to be active again and walk the dog without pain. I do have some bad days still. I am so glad I had the fusion.
      Anything you want me to cover in my next video? Did u have the surgery yet?

    Are you allowed to lift heavy dead weight? Like more than 100lbs? Im having alif /plif tomorrow and wondering what my chances are of getting back to a union iron worker job its definitely heavy work all day every day

    • @bionic_living
      @bionic_living  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My surgeon said I could be able to lift heavyweight at my 6 month appt. The fusion site looks solid but will still continue to heal until 1 year after the surgery. I am avoiding heavy weight currently. I am 9 months post-op

      @@bionic_living Thanks..that is encouraging! I am sitting here and have a pain in my back that feels like something is gripping me from the inside. I am hoping that is just the effect of the work they did in the area and not something wrong. I measured my height pre opp and post opp and they are the same. I was under the impression that my new disc would add to my height. I am praying for your hips to be ok. My knees are sore and have been for 2 weeks as i think i over stressed them at the gym. I had fluid on my left knee that i had drained before surgery and just drained it again yesterday. no pain. Everytime a knee or a hip clicks or pops i think damn is this going to be a next big problem.

      I drove myself crazy thinking I did something to the surgical site. The pain was always just normal post-op pain. It’s a slow road but you’ll get there.

      @@bionic_living Thanks! I just worry because the pain now is worse than i had before in my back. I know i am solid but just have to believe its from the surgeon working in there. I am anxious to see my the image of the work at my 6 week post op appt. I have not bent forward since last july and i built my core up so i am good at making sure i do not move wrong. I worked so hard my whole life so i deserve to take it slow and easy now...im only early 40s.

      @@bionic_living Tomorrow it will be two weeks since surgery and the pain is not going away and i am driving myself crazy thinking maybe something is wrong. I have been SUPER careful not to move wrong. The pain is worse than before the surgery. 4 more weeks until my followup appt with my surgeon. I am thinking i want to request an mri to make sure nothing else is damaged. They did not show me an image of what i look like now. I measured my height before and after and i did not gain any height at all. With a new disc im thinking i should have gained height. Hope you are having good days.
