Glad to hear you’re getting better, Chris. I’m going in for L4-S1 hybrid in northern VA on 10/19. Nervous as can be, but hearing stories like yours gives me hope.

Oh I heard you say now that you're 8 to 9 months out. Wow! My surgery is scheduled for January 19th 2024. Now I'm not an active young man, I'm a 75-year-old woman so I don't expect to heal as fast as you did, but this really gave me so much hope as have some of your other videos. Thank you

    Great insights
I just had a ALIF/PLIF 6 days. It has been a mixed bag of progress and pain. Yesterday I almost two hours of very slow walking. Today I woke in pain worst then right after the surgery. Iced, rested and cut the walking by half now feeling better. Like you, I had a THA on my left hip in March. Comparing the two. I have gained back mobility faster with the PLIF/ALIF but had pain managed faster with the THA.

It’s so great to know I am not alone. 6 days out and walking for 2 hrs. That’s impressive.
I agree with your insight on the difference in recovery between the ALIF/PLIF vs the THA.
Godspeed to a speedy recovery my fellow bionic friend.

Thanks for these videos, I’ve struggled with spondylolesthesis for 40 years, I am very active though, but the last couple of years it’s been worse. I do very physical work and activities. 57 years old . I finally have decided to have surgery hoping not to have it control my life like it does now. I have done a lot in life, but have also given up a lot due to my condition. I’m really having second thoughts about the surgery every good day I have. Is that normal? Always a battle emotionally. So scared of being worse off after surgery. I decided on an alift/ plift as well. Mis. I think I’m ready and then I have a great day . My surgery is scheduled in 20 days! I have decided not to do surgery 3 other times but never actually had it scheduled like I do now. Any advice, I want a life after this and to know I’m not making a mistake.

Hello Tim. First of all, you are a warrior to withstand the struggle and pain of spondylolisthesis for 40 yrs. If you were able to do that, the sacrifice to accomplish healing your surgery will be a challenge but you definitely have what it takes for success. If you haven’t noticed, I haven’t made a new video in over 3 months and counting. Why? Because I feel great, and am out living life. For example, today I did a session of Pilates and swam laps afterwards. I even took my dog to the (frozen) beach and lakeside here in Chicago for even more activity. I am so glad I got the surgery done and the sliding vertebrae is put back and locked in a fused position.
Before the surgery, the pain was never back pain. What prompted me to get help was the fact I was getting a right dropfoot and de-habilitating pain down that same leg to the point I could barely walk a block distance. Yet my back never really bothered me. Anyways. I feel great today and I am 43. I hope this helps. Please reply if there is more information I can provide. You got this.
