Having played through the entire series multiple times I tottaly get why people hate Max Payne 3. Put yourselves in their shoes for a second, you've been replaying 1 and 2 for close to ten years at this point. And when 3 comes out, its nothing like them. Max isn't a wise cracking cynic with a heart of gold, he's a tortured borderline cliche exageration of who he was in the last game. That entire ending with Mona is just thrown out the window as an excuse to put him through hell again. Sam Lake's entire writing sytle is just gone, they don't even try to emulate it. And trhe gameplay is so radically different. Yeah its good, It hink most people like 3's gameplay. But it absolutely is nothing like the first two games in any way.

Max Payne 3 is AMAZING. Great game. I was a huge fan of #1. Liked #2. Loved #3.

I disagree, NFS the Run was a masterpiece. A movie that you can play through, yes it's short but that's by design.

Mad Max was a Top 10 game for me. Criminally underrated.

It is unfortunate they closed the servers for Mad Max. I would have loved to plat that game.

Bruh, Dragon Age: Veilguard is getting ridiculous amount of hate, and that game is like a solid 8/10 possibly 9/10..the combat mechanics are actually good, its alot darker than people make it out to be and graphically its probably the best biowares engine ever looked..

I loved Far Cry Primal my friend suggested I should play. I gave it a try and found it so refreshing the legendary animals, traversal, beautiful landscapes and combat was amazing. I loved it far better

I like your list has tons of third person action games, which is my favorite genre after RPGs, I wishlisted Gun and Mad Max game, will try to get to playing Bureau since Mass Effect is perfection. Red Faction is my honorable mention, ALL of them, first is Half Life with unique physics and everything destructible, 2 is more linear, 3 is the one everyone seems to love and 4 is "we have Mass Effect at home" again.

Any Olympic game that has CURLING is automatically a classic!

Before shouting that "tHiS iS nOt a Sim", I'd like firstly to ask if there's simracing experience to say that. Ah, no, perfect. Then, as the biggest issue that Shift faced was underrating dued by NFS badge, I point, is Forza (motorsport) a simulator? Then Shift has just a pair of minor defects, nothing important, something like wheel support (has someone ever bought a Fanatec, which is compatible, to play Forza 4?) , PC version with interesting tyres mods, and bots that I feel a bit faster than drivatars. But, yes, it is not a simulator, just the first Pcars was built on Shift 2, nothing special. I forgot to name GT, well, GT5 and GT6 suffered of dementially slow bots and a general lack of competition in offline mode. The evergreen defect that kills a driving feeling that I use to find comunicative, really satisfying. But, remember that theese games are too arcade for an Iracing champion, maybe there's a reason why they gained the name of simcades

Both games are great to me.

i found this game quite awesome and was the first racer that got too challenging for me to finish. my major bugbear was that the AI would always do a sorta half-PIT manoeuvre when you overtook them, which according to the game physics would completely disable steering in one direction. i mighta persevered with it otherwise.

darksiders 3 , it wasnt really liked by everyone but i absolutely loved that game

Also want to say, I really appreciate you pointing out all these games that got kinda lost under middling reviews. The Bureau is one I got in an Xcom bundle years ago and never played. I just reinstalled bc I always meant to get to it, so I appreciate you talking about it! I think there are ideas in most games like this, and often they just need a little imagination to see what was good about them and you're doing that here. Cheers!

Max Payne 3 plays really well. Outstanding from a gameplay perspective, for sure, but I felt the plot and characterization were grating and incredibly obnoxious. Yahtzee called it "Max Complain" in his review and that's always stuck with me. He's similarly one note as he was in the other games, but it doesn't have the wit of the others to ground that spiral he goes through. It comes across as needlessly edgy and flat. I think that's more the issue than the aesthetics of his transformation. But again, it does play really well and is very worth playing.

Listen this take has always been my hot take but I thought prototype was overall better than Infamous because the gameplay in Infamous just didn't feel good enough for me to want to stick around for the story, and I think it all boiled down to how much more satisfying the movement was in Prototype.

I’d like to consider myself a fairly skilled Crash Bandicoot player; I’ve 100%’d both the N Sane Trilogy and Wrath of Cortex, but man Crash 4 is exhausting to play. There is a mod on PC that tweaks certain aspects of the game to make it less tedious to play (box placements, requirement amounts, etc.) but at this point I’m already pretty soured on Crash 4 unfortunately

Deathspank looks nice but I didn't find it funny, and the combat becomes a slog as you progress.

Ive only recently noticed max payne 3 hate...i loved it when it came out...admittedly it didnt disturb me quite like the time my step dad broke up with my mum, so my uncle came down and bought me max payne...the game opens to his entire family being murdered...shit haunts me to this day 😂

Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts comes to mind for me. I'd describe it as a physics-based vehicle sim collect-a-thon. I understood why people would be turned off by N&B being so different from previous Banjo games, but holy shit this game rocks. It's honestly a one of a kind game. I highly recommend.
