I got PC2 on disk for Xbox a couple weeks ago and play it a lot mostly because of the multi class endurance races (specifically on le man). I love the game
A big part as to why racing games have a finite shelf life in digital form is due to licensing for the specific vehicles, manufacturers, parts manufacturers, sponsors, etc. When those licenses run out they legally cannot sell the game anymore. So the physical used market is the only way to get them.
I got Project cars 1 and 2, played especially 2 which had the incredible graphics and content from the first, but a slightly better tire model that helped with handling when loosing grip. Loved it, to this day it stays my favorite sim/racing game, even compared to others which are considered 'better'. There was a tiny community in the multiplayer, but we all loved it and we created private championships. Truly a shame this series basically stopped with project cars 2, I will still believe in a fourth one someday. By the way, I discovered your channel and if this is the standard of your videos, damn! You deserve a lot more, keep it up
i loved 1 and 2.. although at the time i was broke and sailed the high seas.. would love to play them now that im in to sim racing with a wheel.. im sure it would PC2 would be competing with asseto corsa if it had a modding community behind it.. the closest thing is auto moblista 2 cwhich uses the same madness engine as PC 1 and 2 nad that game look amazing and drives like a PC2 from what ive heard but with a more realistic tire model
Agreed with all your points. Great video. I'll tell you a little story about my own journey as a (then) 58-year old newbie to gaming, in December 2019. The first experience I ever had on a console of any type was after loading PC2. I had a G29 mounted to a student's desk (which wobbled horribly), played on a PS4 Pro. I was amazed at the graphics most of all, but soon learned to appreciate the pure joy this game delivered. I've since graduated to a direct drive wheel (Logitech G Pro), VR2 headset, and NLR GT Elite aluminium profile rig, and mainly play GT7. I have been unable to play PC2 - for the most part, but I'll elaborate in a moment - since switching the the PS5, and whilst I LOVE my VR headset and the immersion it brings, something is missing. And, totally independent of your video, I loaded up PC2 on my old PS4 at my partner's house. I rarely use it, but on a whim, decided to open PC2. Oh, my Lord. The feeling of nostalgia when I recalled the incredible number of tracks and cars. You are quite spot on with your description of this game having a soul. I am now going to buy a second-hand PS4 Pro for my own home, and get back into it. The new rig arrives this week, and I can think of no better way to christen it. EDIT: I'm wondering if the Logitech G Pro is supported. I know it has a G29 emulation mode, so fingers crossed. I'll head off over to GT Planet's PC2 forum to ask about this. Thanks for the video.
Love this, I’m still yet to play pc2, but it’s in the mail, very excited to play it when it arrives. I’m definitely not your man for wheel advice, I haven’t really scratched the surface with those yet, but there’s a wealth of info out there - thinking I’m due for an upgrade of my setup now that people seem to be enjoying these. Thanks for the watch 😊
Forza isn't even a good sim racer, neither is it a good arcade racer. The graphics don't look good either and it's single player progression is tied to their online servers. That's not a garbage worth spending money on.
Namco is known for dumping their games on PC for cheap, so it's weird Project Cars III never were sold for 5 bucks or something. In fact it haven't even been on sale for over 2 years.
Similar thing happened to gran turismo sport actually. It was due to the license for certain cars running out thus them not being able to actively sell the game anymore. I suspect project cars faced a similar issue
If the game is in your digital library you should still be able to download it even if it's not showing in the store for purchase. Just check your library and you should be able to download it from there. Enjoyed the video. It's a real shame the direction PC3 went. Feels like Grid now, and if you already own and enjoy Grid why buy PC3?
Not someone who makes many comments, but I watched most of this video under the impression that you must have had tens, if not hundreds of thousands of subscribers. If all your videos are like this it’s only a matter of time before you are there. Loved it subbed.
i keep pc1 installed on my pc because it has a vibe i love. i don't play it much but when i do i get a tingly feeling when the engine revs just before the piano keys drop in that intro 1440 on pc looks good too i've been playing mostly ea wrc and gt7 lately but find myself going back to ac and pc1 a couple times a month there's something about having street tracks too. like the pch track in pc1. i miss when polyphony used more than just real life circuits. i like hitting spa and suzuka but there's something fun about having off track scenery in a racing game
Agree, PC1 has a vibe that keeps you coming back - the street track thing is actually something that really annoyed me with the new Forza, just circuit after circuit. GT7 at least has Tokyo and some fantasy tracks but yeah I don't think PC can be beat in terms of track variety
I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I really enjoyed PC3. It reminded me of Driveclub and also quite a bit of the NFS Shift games, although a bit less visceral. Makes sense, considering it's the same studio. To be fair, I have never played PC1 and PC2, so I had no attachment to the series. Those games also always somewhat intimidated me for some reason. I think PC3 would have done a lot better if it didn't bear the PC name. My only major complaint with PC3: The AI straight up cheats in snowy conditions. They drive with the grip of clear asphalt, while the player is sliding all over the place.
I think that’s fair, the devs actually said pc3 was meant to be a spiritual successor to the shift games, so makes sense you get that vibe from them. I think the ‘less visceral’ thing is my main issue with 3, would just love a bit more speed and camera shake, something to make it feel a little more involved I’d recommend pc1 and 2 but they’re pretty different structurally and gameplay wise to 3 so you might not enjoy them as much I’m definitely in the driveclub and shift camps though, they deserve more love than they get
Licensing. That's why the old ones get removed from sale. Believe that the standard is five-year terms, after which they need renegotiating / re-signing / etc.
don't they realize their cars being in video games is basically a free big advertisement for them? they basically demand money for other people to make their brand more known its not like a game could hurt car brands in anyway, regardless of how bad the car is in the game or how bas the game itself is, people know better to only blame the devs if thats the case
I think a lot of car brands probably value their reputation a lot higher than they should and they don't want to see their own products getting damaged in game or not as it could tarnish their rep the way they see it
I invested in the original PC kickstarter campaign. The way they marketed this game made it feel like a real passion project where fan input wasn't just considered but desired. Slightly Mad Studios gave us all the impression that this was going to be an ever evolving racing game that would just get better and better year on year. Unfortunately two years later a sequel was released and PC1 was abandoned, which meant shelling out another 40 notes. A lot of the original investors were pissed off with SMS. A lot of us bought PC2 because the improvements were what we had expected in PC1, but there was always a sour taste in the mouth that we had been forced to pay twice. As for PC3, I think at this point Ian Bell, the founder of SMS, had lost his passion for the series. SMS had been bought out by Codemasters and I think there was a fundamental difference between Ian's way of running a studio and Codemasters'. I'm not sure whether it is true or not, but I like to think that PC3 was Ian Bell's way of giving Codemasters the middle finger.
That’s a shame, I didn’t realise pc1 had that expectation, I can see why there would be bitterness there And yeah 3 just feels so removed from the other two games, it wouldn’t surprise me to learn that they’d lost the passion at that point
Bunch of mates, Friday nights, PS4, G29’s, T300’s, a drink, snacks, login 10pm and off we’d race in Project Cars 1 until we fell asleep. Those were the days…. And then it went all downhill. 2 was barely better than 1. After that, many of us shifted to PC, Assetto Corsa with Content Manager. Some went to iRacing.
but i haver to say Project cars 3 have really good idea learning corners like just like DRIVE CLUB it doesnt have blatant Green/Red/Yellow line instead they just signs of corner entry thats it how to enter corner/what speed you enter is up to you
Project Cars 1 & 2 are the best simracing titles for me I have ever played. I love AC and ACC but only in PC I can find what I am looking for in simracing title. I do not care much about online as I do not have time for it so I focus on single player experience. No other title gives me the same vibe of being a racing driver as Project Cars 1. Its career mode is perfect. Calendar, signing a contract, occasional invitational events, steady progress to higher racing classes. Proper 6h, 12h, 24h endurance races - yes, I do every race set to 100% length - I guess that is the reason I do not have time for multi :D. Love it. Part 2 is also amazing but the career, in my opinion, lost its charm a little bit... and the bloody clutch is useless as you can switch gear on H-stick without clutch in any car. They messed that part.
I’m also more of a single player person so the career mode is always important to me - I haven’t played pc2 yet but it’s in the post on the way, looking forward to checking it out
Funny thing, slightly mad studios touted a Wii U version of Project Cars 1 being in development for quite a while. A mate of mine loved the Wii U and was stoked about a Wii U version of the game. They were touting some gamepad motion driving in the Wii U version, and my mate loved the idea. So he made a custom racing chair mount for his Gamepad and went really in on being excited for the release. He posted up some pics of his project and his excitement for the Wii U version on the slightly mad forums. The lead developer then proceeded to make fun of him, call him deranged for going so far as to make this racing chair and steering wheel frame/holder and just mocked him pretty hatefully about it. He then would mention this "deranged guy" whenever someone would ask about the Wii U port for ages and mock "some people going too far over the edge" in reference to the port. Then they dropped the port down the line. Weird.
I still remember when nfs had failed with shift series, GT5, GT6 were not as the crowd had expected and GRID series had disappeared completely... Project CARS was completely fresh and I had a gr8 time playing it (although I lost my save file for it that time), so I am still playing it today... And Project CARS 2 improved on the first one massively in all aspects n that was when the series was at it's true peak... When Project CARS 3 came out both on mobile devices as well as PC, and Consoles... It was a complete and utter disappointment, which is why I haven't even bothered to buy the 3rd game... Why the devs decided to take that approach for the third installment baffles me beyond words... And I am highly sceptical after the reception of the third game, that we can even expect a 4th installment of this infamous game series...
600 hours isn't much knowing how old Project Cars 2 is, but tbh I never spent more time in any modern racing game. Sure I've been playing Gran Turismo 4 many times and still do but yeah, that's 2004
He keeps saying, you can't get the game when you can actually get the game. Just not digitally. It bugs me. But cool video. Lol I just got Grand Turisno 5 on my PS3 and I've been playing that like crazy. I will try the First Project Cars after I've had my fill of that game xD
About 3 years ago, I wanted to get back into racing after around 20 years hiatus. I picked up a bunch of bundles which included all the popular ones, PC1 and 2 being two of them. I heard bad things about PC3, so I never even thought about getting it! As for a racing games I loved (although I do have them on CD) is the TOCA series and SODA from late 90s early 2000s. Using a Thrustmaster Formula T1 wheel and pedals at the time was amazing.
Delisting is a huge problem. Last year i got a PS4 & VR plus a copy of Dirt Rally 1 on disc but because Dirt Rally had been delisted i couldnt download the VR mode. Also a few years ago i got an Xbox One & Forza Horizon 2 but because that was delisted i couldnt get the Storm Island DLC.
PC1&2 as well as being crowd-funded had a really active crowd-development model. The community who bought in got to be part of the dev cycle, and play and sculpt the game as it was made. I bought in to both games and was part of that and it was a really awesome community and experience. The model for the first game meant that the profits were even split amongst that community. PC3 happened after the developer, Slightly Mad Studio was acquired by Codemasters and had no community involvement. Apparently the reason the first 2 are no longer playable is due to licencing. Which means somebody at the studio signed a deal with 1 or more manufacturer/track owner/racing series, which said they would one day see the rights expire and need to pull the game from sale. That was never mentioned during development, and whoever signed a deal like that without disclosing it has some f$&@(%)g explaining to do. Anyway obviously you can never condone piracy.... but... well... you know. Nike slogan and all that.
I remember the initial project cars, it was a great game. It really found a good balance of being a sim whilst also providing an enjoyable and immersive game play experience. It was a little touch but placing the player it the helmet was really neat, playing a career mode where you progress from karts was fantastic, letting you just live out your fantasy of racing various LMP and formula style cars was great. Yeah this game wasn’t ever going to be a full on sim but if definitely delivers on providing the experience that many racing fans would imagine driving a race car is like.
Thank you! MGS could be good, TH-cam seems to only like my racing videos at the moment 😂 but definitely going to start releasing some non racing stuff as well so stay tuned ☺️
I don’t know if it’s the same case for project cars but for Forza the reason the older titles get pulled is the music. They buy licenses for the songs and when those licenses end they can’t legally sell new copies anymore.
Yeah from what people are saying it’s the music but mostly the car licenses, the brands like to charge a ton for the licensing fees and by the time they expire, the publisher isn’t going to reinvest when they’ve moved onto other projects sadly
Ive had all of the project cars games in my old PS4, Id say i was a hardcore fan because i bought then like 1 week later they released, all of them werent actual bad games (3 had a few flaws but it works) but after EA bought codemasters again,. they just released like few paid DLCS and abandoned it, PC2 Is still the best one, Even had rally races!
the problem with racing games and why they are getting delisted is due to licensing issues. the real-car licenses are often time-limited, same with stuff like soundtracks, racing series or any other brand names in the game. you cannot blame the developers for that unless you are fine with them only using fantasy brands and models, and good luck trying to get anyone excited to drive a "Lamborrari Venturion 300X". that's really only something you can do in pure arcade racers. a sim game needs real cars, real tracks and real series.
Im glad i own both pc1 and pc2 ...very very underrated games...sure they have a lot of flaws, but the good stuff in them is worth having those games Also when people say pirating is bad,i tell them this situation... personally i own those games because i love them and i raced in leagues and with friends, but if pirating is the only way for new people to acquire them without paying 100€ on ebay, than do so
I just started playing Project Cars 2 last year and its great. Iam also playing Automobilista 2 on the newest update. Yes AM2 is newer and has better AI and such. But it still lacks some of the great cars from PC2 and most importantly to me a good career mode. After a long day of work that still demands some light " sim- racing" from me its nice to fire up PC2, and instantly have a good race/ championship to hop into. I tried to only have either one on my SSD but I come back to both of them regulary...
Project Cars 1 gave off the same vibe as what the old ToCA games used to give me as a child. It was such a comfort game to me, and its direct sequel only built off of that. It's such a shame that 3 threw everything that made the series good away, probably because of the studio being acquired by Codemasters. And I find that funny, given Codies were responsible for the ToCA series.
I will say this. Sadly for majority of racing games it’s due to licensing issues for what their games are pulled from the digital store. Now I have been questioning it too because of Need for Speed. With Toyota not being in NFS, why can I still get the older NFS games then that have Toyota? Maybe it’s because they do it a different way that the other simcade/sims do it. I mean you can’t get the older f1 titles anymore. It’s alot of factors in that and can be confusing. So I understand why you might not have mentioned it. Plus with Slightly Mad Studios dead (sadly) I’m surprised project cars 3 is still up. But probably because it is still a relatively new game. I am going to be getting PC2 as hard copy (you can still get them new through Amazon oddly enough. You can still get the physical copy of Forza horizon (1) brand spanking new! But alas, this was a great video. It is a struggle for us getting some games and so on. But as long as we can still get physical copies and still have a console or consoles with disk drives then we will be okay.
Yeah good call, licensing would definitely be an issue, I guess there really isn’t a way around that unfortunately - and yup I think working older consoles and discs are going to become more and more precious as time passes
Project Cars 3 i get stick for this BUT here me out its best game i think for getting into "simracing" teaches you alot of basic racing fundamentals, hell i did a review on it...Pcars 2 - Well, I'll start by saying that I really, really, really wanted to like this sim. PCars2 has the best car/track lineup that i've seen in a simulation game bar none. The colors and vibrance of the environment is amazing as is the dynamic track which models puddles and varying amounts of water. However, this is unfortunately where the good stuff ends.
I can see what you mean- 3 is definitely gentler on the handling model so I guess working up from there would be an ok way to go - the career structure was the thing that annoyed me the most, you just end up in circles doing the same races again and again
I believe SMS also made the two NFS Shift games, which would explain a lot about how PC3 ended up being. My guess is that after Codemasters bought SMS, then the Codies themselves being bought by EA, they forced SMS to pump out what was basically Shift 3. Sooo I am fairly certain it's all EA's fault, yet again...
Almost right. SMS made the Shift games. But Codemasters has nothing to do with the direction of Project Cars 3. That was all Ian Bell. The chief developer at SMS. He wanted to make a spiritual successor to the Shift series. And that's how PC3 came about.
All of those games got removed from online stores due to licensing contracts. The devs will go to the auto manufacturers and say "We'd like to model your car for our new game" Apparently in the contract were stipulations saying "After x amount of years you have to renew the license and pay a fee to us for using our likeness and our car" Well the devs don't want to pay those fees even though they grossed a metric shit ton of money off the game. They'll save the cash and develop a new game and leave the previous, and usually much better game, to rot. In the case of Project Cars 3 they got bought out by codemasters. Codemasters made the Grid series and you can't find any of them for sale besides the latest release. I'm pretty sure their M.O is to not pay and just push out worse content. So the old games disappear unless you get a key or a disc.
Everyone in the sim community hated NFS Shift, Shift 2, Project Cars and Project Cars 2. They were dumb. They may not be technically the best or most real...but as games...these are amazing games.
Project Cars 1 & 2 are amazing the first game is one of my all time fave games to play even to this day, while the third one is not at all on the same level I think it is a decent game in its own rights but shouldnt have been the 3rd game it should have been an off shoot series as most players of the first two games expected more of the same, good thing is we have the Automoblista series to carry on the flame of the first two Project Cars games, if your lucky you can still find Steam keys for the PC version of Project Cars 1 & 2 iv picked up a few to give to friends but as the game is now no longer for sale direct on Steam I'm sure the number of available keys will dry up at some point as I know a few sites no longer have keys available already.
I do still have that game on disc and ain't selling it. Last time I tried it few months ago the online server was dead but they might make it active again I heard somewhere? I just love any driver game, the 1st and 2nd on PS1 is pure nostalgic for me since it was one of the very first games I played at age of 4. I also have the 3rd one too still on OG xbox
You’ll be happy to hear my copy of driver sf arrived in the post the other day so I’ll hit that up in the not too distant future 😊 sorry for the late reply!
I got lucky and picked up PC2 on sale on steam about 6 months prior to it getting delisted, didn't realise it was going to be as lucky a choice as it was. Unfortunately I did not have the same luck with the original.
You can still pick pc1 on disc preowned fortunately- I’m in the opposite position, never picked up pc2 but it’s in the mail on its way, excited to try it out 😊
technically you could still play the original project cars. Enter Automobilista, it's a racing games that retains everything that made PC1 and 2 great, but with little more spices of more realism in it. Some people said it was a sim but so do PC1
Even Real Racing 3 (The racing mobile game) has better UI than Project Cars 3. It's so hedious, the colors, the fonts it's disgusting. I'm glad I'm not the only person think about that.
Yeah true, I agree but the thing with Real Racing 3 nowadays is that it’s getting boring, it’s not nice with a lot things now and it lacks a lot of things nowadays really
Like you, i just hate it when games just disappear. Crew 1 being another example. In a few months , even if you own it, it will be unplayable when they turn off the servers . Terrible anti consumer move
It kind of lives on. But on PC not console, if you get it on a game key sight. Also Automobilista 2 uses the madness engine from PC2. But Assetto Corsa is on console and it a far superior physics model than the project cars games. But the career mode in project cars was awesome.
My local VR place uses this ( apparently you don’t need to fiddle with the settings) I tried to get it but it never goes on sale it’s still £80 on ps5 (yes there’s a £50 one but it also never goes on sale)
I backed PC1 in the beginning and remember trying all the different builds on PC until they released the full game. I love this game and still play it to this day. Great video. 💯 🙏🏽
@@wimpwilson you inspired me to try the game again! I had an issue where it wouldn't show the screen so I gave up on it after trying to fix it. Last night ended up going into the config file and changed it to windowed mode and boom, we are back playing PC1! 👊🏾🙏🏽
Project cars would be a great game if it wasn't bugy as hell. The AI was terrible, much to aggressive. There is a bug, that the Formula A car can drives through corners with DRS open. Best times are not saving, game crashes, FPS drops and so on.
Project Cars 3 felt and looked like a mobile game. A visually impressive mobile game, but a mobile game. I got my ps4 for the release of Project Cars 2, but sold my copy of the game soon after because it is nearly impossible to play on the dualshock 4 and I didn't want to get a wheel. I loved the first game but was extremely disappointed in the 3rd game.
Picked up the first one the day it released. I was paid that day randomly and I was so starved for a good racing sim simcade I took a chance. N fuck. It was so damned captivating. The season you play the plethora of freedom of what to drive. The as you mentioned connection to the road the and great feedback each vehicle gave you was incredible. Pc2 was even better. In every way. Never even bothered with 3. Looked so much worse in every way.
Yup I love pc1, I actually haven’t played 2 yet but it’s in the post so I’ll hit it up soon. Going from 1 to 3 was a shock, doesn’t really even feel like the same series
@@wimpwilson you should. pc2 is imo just better in every way, they nailed it. i seen alot of footage of 3 and it looks like ass. like a expensive phone game as you had said. doing nothing not a single thing better than the previous 2 titles. i was super disappointed cuz that was before gt7 came out im pretty sure so the simcade genre was still desolate minus pc 1&2
So i watched your video and you basically have no access to pcars right,i wonder have you checked your library on either ps4/ps5,if it's on ps5 and you look at the tiles of your games then scroll all the way to the right, you'll see like a controller with 6 little squares on it,go to the magnify glass to look up your project cars title,i'm willing to bet you'll find it there ready to be redownloaded again cause i to have it digital and physical!! hopefully that helps someone out there!!
Its sad seeing a studio producing an " arcade sim racer" with NfS Shift titles, doing there own thing with PC1, doing it better with PC2 and after that " dumbing it back down" to an " arcade sim racer"...
Yup PC3 really feels to me like they were following the competition rather than building on PC - that's why it feels so generic and removed from the other games
For everyone wanting a game like Project cars 1 and 2 play automobilista 2, it's a bit more realistic then project cars but feels similar. It used to have giant issues with the tire physics but since it has been fixed it's one the best simcade games. Wouldn't play any of these games with a controller seems mega fucked up to me but maybe thats stupid simracer bias. If you have a wheel and a VR headset project cars2 and automobilista are the best looking VR simracing games (automobilista definitely is better specially the amazing weather)
Its super concerning. I am just getting into sim racing, but lucky for me I'm also a game hoarder, so i had downloaded both PC and PC2 from games with gold, along with Forza Horizon 1 & 2. I just bought Horizon 3 on disc so I have that one too. Now I just need to disconnect the whole thing from the Internet and I'll be set to race on good games, all by myself, forever 😅
I was shocked to hear you say you had to upgrade your car. One of the biggest differences in Forza and PC was the car customization. I liked that in PC you were a team driver not a car builder. You had to tune tire pressures and suspension to squeeze out better lap times and it was challenging. The AI was another huge win for PC. You could tweak the difficulty scale to match your abilities and the AI was competitive while Forza AI would always evaluate your abilities and suddenly the AI catches up or slows down. The new game looks like they tried to copy Forza. Disappointing
So apparently the weather like sun rise and all of that are based off of real weather thst would take place in that region like gran turismo but steps ahead.
The devs had to take them down due to outrunning licenses for the different cars/car companies. 1 and 2 were masterpieces…. I didn’t even bought the 3rd one - I am still too busy enjoying the first two parts. But yeah, they had to take them down due to legal reasons which I think is really sad
uhhh so it is a simcade (kind of) but surprisingly only on controller, on a proper steering wheel it feels quite nice and pretty hard to drive, sure not assetto/iracing levels but more like automobilista 2 or lfs levels, its pretty good to play on a wheel
@@siedkk2538 that's fine I get mad trying to play acc or Rfactor cuz even playing seriously I always lose control, I prefer simcade like GRiD Legends. Thanks for the quick response too! This game just never goes on sale =/
@@seancovell4124sure I actually enjoyed motorfest but regardless I still want to play the crew one. I’d actually want to play it with server shut down instead of not being able to play it at all.
@@worldwar1424 oh I totally agree. I think it should be illegal to permanently remove the ability to play something we pay for. I own the disc version of the game and the fact that it'll be unplayable soon isn't right at all. Unfortunately it seems impossible to get the outcome to change, for anything, ever. Greed is part of the "game" now.
Project Cars 2 Is the best of them all, Period.
i play it
I got PC2 on disk for Xbox a couple weeks ago and play it a lot mostly because of the multi class endurance races (specifically on le man). I love the game
Yup I keep hearing this, I've got a copy in the mail on the way, really pumped to give it a go, consensus seems to be it's superior to the first game
still playing it to this day. Best sim racing game ever made and I mean its better than GT7 in some aspects too.
The Historic tracks and cars are my favourite to race. Shame Steam stopped support. On this game.
A big part as to why racing games have a finite shelf life in digital form is due to licensing for the specific vehicles, manufacturers, parts manufacturers, sponsors, etc. When those licenses run out they legally cannot sell the game anymore. So the physical used market is the only way to get them.
Yup. Super bummer but that's the problem allright.
Not many things I hate more than licensing.
You deserve a lot more, keep it up
Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it :) Yeah it might as well have stopped with 2, 3 doesn't even feel like it's from the same series

Speaking of games dissappearing, the fact that you can't buy the original dirt trilogy or grid is absolutely CRIMINAL
I'm glad I got Grid from GOG, I missed out on Dirt.
jus pirate everything, they dont care

Why don't you play It backwards compatibility?
@@jhonnybbc5297 Excuse me for being obtuse, but I'm not sure what you mean. Apologies!
Project cars also have water puddles in rain too while forza removed it on 2023
Yeah Forza's new water physics look pretty but they don't behave realistically at all - same traction wherever you are on the track
Wake up everybody Australian NakeyJakey uploaded another banger! My preferred mid 2010s racing game is Driveclub. Killed far too early.
I'll probably grab shade for this but I'm kind of a fan of DriveClub....
You should get a yoga ball hat since your island is upside down@@wimpwilson
Similar thing happened to gran turismo sport actually. It was due to the license for certain cars running out thus them not being able to actively sell the game anymore. I suspect project cars faced a similar issue

If the game is in your digital library you should still be able to download it even if it's not showing in the store for purchase. Just check your library and you should be able to download it from there. Enjoyed the video. It's a real shame the direction PC3 went. Feels like Grid now, and if you already own and enjoy Grid why buy PC3?
Yeah it shows up in my ps4 library but not ps5 - from other comments sounds like it might be a region issue 😬
Even Grid is noticeably superior to PC3.
Not someone who makes many comments, but I watched most of this video under the impression that you must have had tens, if not hundreds of thousands of subscribers. If all your videos are like this it’s only a matter of time before you are there. Loved it subbed.
I'm no. 994. That's incredible
i keep pc1 installed on my pc because it has a vibe i love. i don't play it much but when i do i get a tingly feeling when the engine revs just before the piano keys drop in that intro
1440 on pc looks good too
i've been playing mostly ea wrc and gt7 lately but find myself going back to ac and pc1 a couple times a month
there's something about having street tracks too. like the pch track in pc1. i miss when polyphony used more than just real life circuits. i like hitting spa and suzuka but there's something fun about having off track scenery in a racing game
Agree, PC1 has a vibe that keeps you coming back - the street track thing is actually something that really annoyed me with the new Forza, just circuit after circuit. GT7 at least has Tokyo and some fantasy tracks but yeah I don't think PC can be beat in terms of track variety
Especially the soundtrack
I think the ‘less visceral’ thing is my main issue with 3, would just love a bit more speed and camera shake, something to make it feel a little more involved
I’d recommend pc1 and 2 but they’re pretty different structurally and gameplay wise to 3 so you might not enjoy them as much
I’m definitely in the driveclub and shift camps though, they deserve more love than they get
But all is not lost!!! Reiza studios took the Madness engine and made Automobilista 2 with it!
Which is PC only. Damn. Though I do have a PC, its just not as simple to fire it up as the console.
Licensing. That's why the old ones get removed from sale. Believe that the standard is five-year terms, after which they need renegotiating / re-signing / etc.
yeah, fuck car companies. they are also the reason many devs don't even try to delve into the racing genre
don't they realize their cars being in video games is basically a free big advertisement for them? they basically demand money for other people to make their brand more known
its not like a game could hurt car brands in anyway, regardless of how bad the car is in the game or how bas the game itself is, people know better to only blame the devs if thats the case
I think a lot of car brands probably value their reputation a lot higher than they should and they don't want to see their own products getting damaged in game or not as it could tarnish their rep the way they see it
if you are on pc consider AMS2 its like a spiritual successor of project cars games
Moved from PC2 to AMS2 last year. Haven‘t looked back since
I paid $4 for a second hand copy of Project Cars 3 and I still feel ripped off. I will happily do laps in either PC1 or 2 until the cows come home.

That’s a shame, I didn’t realise pc1 had that expectation, I can see why there would be bitterness there
And yeah 3 just feels so removed from the other two games, it wouldn’t surprise me to learn that they’d lost the passion at that point
Great video! The editing is simple but very effective!
Thank you 🙏 glad you enjoyed 😊
but i haver to say Project cars 3 have really good idea learning corners like just like DRIVE CLUB it doesnt have blatant Green/Red/Yellow line instead they just signs of corner entry thats it how to enter corner/what speed you enter is up to you
Project Cars 1 & 2 are the best simracing titles for me I have ever played.
I said when I first played PC3, if they had called it Shift3 it would have been great. It was the expectation that was the big let down for me.
Love the old toca games!

Project Cars 2 is still to this day one of the best all around sims you can get on console. Checks all the boxes awesome game.
All digital is the consumers wet dream
Project Cars 3 was a good game with the wrong name

Next, you have to review Arab Drift Cars 1.
Totally agree, particularly about the career progression starting in karts and working your way up, really immersive
So glad I came across this channel!

Project cars was my first vr was mind blowing to me soo much actually started go karting now a full racing driver
I don’t know if it’s the same case for project cars but for Forza the reason the older titles get pulled is the music. They buy licenses for the songs and when those licenses end they can’t legally sell new copies anymore.
Yeah from what people are saying it’s the music but mostly the car licenses, the brands like to charge a ton for the licensing fees and by the time they expire, the publisher isn’t going to reinvest when they’ve moved onto other projects sadly
project cars also had such a nice dark and dramatic aesthetic overall!
Yeah I really like the dark menus, PC3 menus look like a nasty phone game
I am a lucky ducky. Bought on disc for £15 in 2017, never looked back.
You got a sub.
Thanks for the sub 🙏 congrats on your lucky ducky status
Im glad i own both pc1 and pc2 ...very very underrated games...sure they have a lot of flaws, but the good stuff in them is worth having those games
Also when people say pirating is bad,i tell them this situation... personally i own those games because i love them and i raced in leagues and with friends, but if pirating is the only way for new people to acquire them without paying 100€ on ebay, than do so

I own both PC1 and 2, as well as the free Pagani Edition. Absolutely killer games. I hate EA for killing it.
Codies were bought by EA...
Yeah I used to love the old toca games on pc, totally agree. Pc3 is a real letdown
Project cars 1 and 2 are awesome. Theyre worth finding a physical copy if you dont have them already. Project cars 3 is like a mobile game
I have the original on disc and gave it so many chances. I'm completely convinced its unplayable.
I legit started a new Career on project Cars 2 last night and man, its been so much fun!
Yep my copy is en route in the mail, excited to try it 😊
Project Cars 3 i get stick for this BUT here me out its best game i think for getting into "simracing" teaches you alot of basic racing fundamentals, hell i did a review on it...Pcars 2 - Well, I'll start by saying that I really, really, really wanted to like this sim.
@@wimpwilson agree very much like the grid series but actually better...like the video btw :)

Old games are available pirated on pc. These day piracy is the only way to play these old gems
@@benn87 Oh right, I forgot about that! I remember seeing articles about it. Many thanks!
NFS SHIFT 3 is AWESOME
BEST Shift Ever
(Yes PC3 is made by the same team and even the director of DRIVECLUB)
Peoject cars on xbox it was removed but after a few years it appeared in my list again
I shall treasure my disc copies of the first two games. Still not 100% convinced they'll find a way to make using them difficult, though.
Everyone in the sim community hated NFS Shift, Shift 2, Project Cars and Project Cars 2. They were dumb. They may not be technically the best or most real...but as games...these are amazing games.
Project Cars 1 & 2 are amazing the first game is one of my all time fave games to play even to this day, while the third one is not at all on the same level I think it is a decent game in its own rights but shouldnt have been the 3rd game it should have been an off shoot series as most players of the first two games expected more of the same, good thing is we have the Automoblista series to carry on the flame of the first two Project Cars games, if your lucky you can still find Steam keys for the PC version of Project Cars 1 & 2 iv picked up a few to give to friends but as the game is now no longer for sale direct on Steam I'm sure the number of available keys will dry up at some point as I know a few sites no longer have keys available already.

technically you could still play the original project cars. Enter Automobilista, it's a racing games that retains everything that made PC1 and 2 great, but with little more spices of more realism in it. Some people said it was a sim but so do PC1
The depiction of elevation was incredible 😮
Even Real Racing 3 (The racing mobile game) has better UI than Project Cars 3. It's so hedious, the colors, the fonts it's disgusting. I'm glad I'm not the only person think about that.
Yeah true, I agree but the thing with Real Racing 3 nowadays is that it’s getting boring, it’s not nice with a lot things now and it lacks a lot of things nowadays really
Worth mentioning that there’s still Steam keys of PC1 that you can still buy.
Yup true, good call
If you see PC 3 as an arcade game, you will hav a Lot of Fun!
Yeah assetto corsa definitely is more realistic, I find it a bit dry with the career but the level of handling detail in there is crazy
My local VR place uses this ( apparently you don’t need to fiddle with the settings) I tried to get it but it never goes on sale it’s still £80 on ps5 (yes there’s a £50 one but it also never goes on sale)

Project cars would be a great game if it wasn't bugy as hell. The AI was terrible, much to aggressive. There is a bug, that the Formula A car can drives through corners with DRS open. Best times are not saving, game crashes, FPS drops and so on.
Watched this video, went on my PS5 and downloaded PC 1&2 so not exactly sure what you are talking about. 🤷♂️
Seems like it could be a regional thing Sony has implemented based on what other people have said, guess we’re just lucky here in Aus 😬
I have the same issue with GRID DIRT and F1 games. They are completely gone.
Car licenses are responsible for some delisting
Project cars 1 and turn turbo boost allway up on the rs500 I can’t stay on track
Totally agree - rumour has it that pc3 was originally concepted as a mobile game, wouldn’t surprise me
Picked up the first one the day it released.
Project cars 1 is still my 3rd most played game on pc
So i watched your video and you basically have no access to pcars right,i wonder have you checked your library on either ps4/ps5,if it's on ps5 and you look at the tiles of your games then scroll all the way to the right, you'll see like a controller with 6 little squares on it,go to the magnify glass to look up your project cars title,i'm willing to bet you'll find it there ready to be redownloaded again cause i to have it digital and physical!! hopefully that helps someone out there!!
Yeah this worked for me on ps4 but not ps5 - from other comments it sounds like this might just be the case in my region (Australia) thanks Sony 😆
Ever happened to you.... Driveclub... *cries*
That’s the way to go! I traded my copy of Forza horizon 3 in a few years ago and have regretted it ever since
Its not the developers erasing the games. Its EA.
Also. Buy PC2 on a key seller.
Yeah it feels like pc3’s early career cars were tuned to need tons of upgrades to stay competitive, really frustrating
please do NFS Shift, also made by Slightly Mad Studios.
It’s in the pipeline 😊
PC2 left me with mixed fellings. Some cars felt incredible and other completely off with weird physics
I've got my copy of PC2 on the way in the mail, definitely keen to check it out
So apparently the weather like sun rise and all of that are based off of real weather thst would take place in that region like gran turismo but steps ahead.
Project Cars 2 sounds just like the game you want. It's literally Project Cars 1 but upgraded in every aspect.
Yup it’s in the mail on the way, I’m really excited to try it 😊
The devs had to take them down due to outrunning licenses for the different cars/car companies. 1 and 2 were masterpieces…. I didn’t even bought the 3rd one - I am still too busy enjoying the first two parts.
But yeah, they had to take them down due to legal reasons which I think is really sad
Yeah it’s a shame but I guess that’s just business - they’re not going to renew licenses when they’ve moved onto other projects 😢
I thought PC3 was a more fun Simcade? Like GRiD which I love
uhhh so it is a simcade (kind of) but surprisingly only on controller, on a proper steering wheel it feels quite nice and pretty hard to drive, sure not assetto/iracing levels but more like automobilista 2 or lfs levels, its pretty good to play on a wheel
@@siedkk2538 that's fine I get mad trying to play acc or Rfactor cuz even playing seriously I always lose control, I prefer simcade like GRiD Legends. Thanks for the quick response too! This game just never goes on sale =/
I own both project cars 1 and 2 on steam, love them both. Never bought 3 as the reviews were horrible.
I jump in Project Cars 2 every day.
It's the best sim except for the A. I. sometimes bumping you
I've got a copy arriving in the mail soon, really excited to check it out

Another game that you won't be able to play is The Crew. You can't even play with a disc after 3/31/24. I heard Crew Motorfest is terrible too.
Motorfest makes the first game look and feel it's age. Motorfest is actually pretty good.
