    On the tension between diction and slang, it seems to me that there's an emergent third option in the language of Social Media fr fr. It's a mix of shorthand, recontextualized memes, ever updating slang and straight prose, all of which can have meaning unto themselves. For example, when you're not serious about your response, you might chose to spell though as "tho" with the disinterest implied in the subject lack of effort used to type. We're only a decade and a half or so in with social media ubiquity but I can imagine the gulf between those that can speak and understand that language will only grow over time.

    I don't think the people that made the movie ever thought we would ever be on the verge of what happens in the movie. It's possible that we are close to being the prequel of Idiocracy.. think about it, Trump, Elon, all his cabinet picks, it's actually insane.

    The makers of idiocracy really had some significant insight into where not just America but the whole World is descending into. Now we are going to have 4 years of decisions that will affect America and the rest of the World by the most malignly self dealing and corrupt individual to ever hold the Presidency. Who will also surround himself with people of the same degenerate low character. I personally feel that those who voted for the orange one in this recent election really have no idea of the unbelievable societal upheaval and endemic corruption that is going to forced upon them. The next four years are going to paved in darkness!

    im gonna be honest, while a lot of people say idiocracy is about eugenics, in commentary its far more about consumerism, people mindlessly buying things, anti intellectualism, a celebrity being the president, it reflects the trump era quite well if you ask me

    "When you consider the world of left politics today, the calls for systemic change are dead" So...... You just *didn't* consider the world of left politics then? Fucking weird thing to say about something you clearly know nothing about... "The descendants of the movement have largely pivoted towards symbolic feel-good politics: all joy and vibes" What the fuck is this nonsense? Harris and Winfrey are the descendants of Occupy Wallstreet? Are you out of your fucking gourd? Could you please put this kind of shit at the start of your videos so it's clear from the outset that watching is an utter waste of time? Appreciated.

    I think that reading critics of social movements without reading proponents of it yields a very flawed analysis. The beginning of industrialization in France was increasing wealth but it was enslaving people in a wage system and concentrating wealth in the hands of a few. The lords of Tech in the contemporary USA are the kinds of people that Bruce Wayne represents - a billionaire with fake or flawed altruism.

    did you notice how stephen was the one that signed the paperwork to release broomhilda, not calvin. stephen was the one that had to explain everything to calvin in the office over a glass of liquor. stephen was really running that plantation, but he acted stupid in public, speaking broken english and acting subservient to calvin. Stephen, portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson, is a fascinating and deeply complex character. While he outwardly presents himself as subservient to Calvin Candie, the plantation owner, his actions reveal that he wields significant influence and is effectively running the plantation from behind the scenes. Stephen’s signing of the paperwork to release Broomhilda, as well as his role in explaining matters to Calvin in the office, underscores his authority and intelligence. He is the one who truly understands the workings of the plantation and ensures its operation, while Calvin indulges in his superficial and flamboyant persona. This dynamic highlights a power imbalance that is hidden beneath societal appearances. Stephen’s public facade of broken English and exaggerated subservience is a performance that allows him to maintain control without appearing threatening to the white elite. It’s a survival mechanism but also a manipulative tool, as it gives him room to maneuver and wield power while avoiding scrutiny. His character is a chilling reminder of how power can be exercised in subtle and covert ways, even within oppressive systems. This duality makes Stephen one of the most cunning and controversial characters in the film, representing an internalized and weaponized compliance with the system of slavery for personal gain. It’s a brilliant piece of storytelling that adds layers to the narrative and invites deeper reflection on power, agency, and complicity within oppressive structures.

    Great analysis - the crisis of narration really fits with Tarantino, not just Inglorious Basterds. Or 2024. I think of this not as a Revenge Fantasy or War Movie, but a movie about War Movies. Tarantino really starts an imporant discussion. This analysis is exactly the response needed.

    This is a shameful attempt to put Trump in the thumbnail of the video, associating him with a revolutionary. Given that during the Obama and Biden governments there were a large number of wars. While during the Trump government there were no wars. It is very forced to want to compare him to Nazis. And besides, it is already a pathetic and pathetic statement.

    While the Joker's goal was to try to prove that everyone is like him, through his forced plan to create chaos, Bane just wanted to repeat the same maxims as Raz: Destroy so that they don't have to be responsible for rebuilding later. Because for any maniac who exchanges reason for madness, it is more comfortable and easier to destroy than to build.

  • @enthomorf

    Revolutions were not made by the people, they never were. But by privileged intellectuals who devised ideas and projects to execute means of action to organize a group that could be capable of manipulating the rest of the population. In the former Soviet Union, for example, it was intellectuals who started everything, not the workers. Many workers had no idea what was coming. And they were not given the chance to agree or disagree with what was happening around them. Expressions full of euphemism and falsehood such as "Freedom" and "Equality" were uttered in Lenin's protests. However, the citizens and especially the farmers had no idea that all their possessions, including those of the poor, would be confiscated in the near future.

    This guy in the video got something else wrong. No Gotham citizen participated in this supposed "revolution" by Bane. Those men dressed as employees at the Stock Exchange were not real workers - as the guy in the video understood - but were Bane's henchmen who had infiltrated and pretended to be workers. Gotham suffered a serious terrorist act. Something comparable to the Taliban taking control of an entire country at their mercy. This is not a revolution. Much less a revolution of the people. The guy in the video should have paid more attention to the facts that occurred in the reality of the film than to the abstract and conceptual promises and statements of the villains.

  • @enthomorf
    @enthomorf 9 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    This guy didn't understand many things about Nolan's trilogy. The Joker failed to prove his point. In the third act, Batman proved that not everyone is like him, when no one on board the barges wanted to press the detonator. Furthermore, the Joker was a liar. Because he preached that he was an agent of chaos wanting to prove to others how ridiculous it is to try to control things and that because of that he didn't make plans. But everything he did in the film required plans, required control of the situation, so that these same plans would happen the way he wanted. Hence his frustration in the third act, when the barges didn't explode. HE personally wanted to detonate the barges.
