You are seriously underrating the Goltsneit. Shield bashes do not care about sharpness and elemental values, only raw damage and affinity. So a slashing attack with raw damage of 360 and blue (1.2x) sharpness ends up being a little less than 1% worse than a slashing attack with raw damage of 330 and white (1.32x) sharpness, but about 9% better when hitting with the shield. So unless 90% of your damage is coming from slashing attacks, you're better off with the Goltsneit than a 330 weapon with white sharpness. Compared to a purple sharpness 330 weapon, it's about 6% worse on the slash and about 9% better on bash, so it outperforms unless at least ~60% of your damage comes from slashes instead of shield bashing. It's also got 4/2/1/3* slots on it, which is equal to or better than every other weapon. It's not the very best weapon on the roster, but there is no way this thing is D tier.

A theory I have on the Shagaru SnS is that it was supposed to be upgraded really early and was sort of meant to be for Gaismagorm since it’s really weak to dragon

This boss is fkn annoying, you literally don't have to go to this extent to kill this monster quickly. the game fkn gate keep all the goh dam damage so you cant fkn kill it quickly, omg this boss is so annoying goh damnit. I almost killed it a few times in 15 minutes, but by tie your at the last part he literally just keeps fkn attacking sometimes apparently he attacks less with the sword and shield cus every weapon iv used so far, he just starts spamming the fkn lightning and ground slam

Great analysis! After Sunbreak I trust the MH teams to be able to balance even these new mechanics well! I hope this game will be a little less grindy than Sunbreak. I think a way to help armor sets to have multiple skills for each weapon is to have those double skill decorations from world again. Although i know some people dont like the idea of having even more skills to be even stronger. Because you could just take advantage of double skills and super optimize one weapon builds instead of unoptimized 2 weapon builds

You made some good points, especially about armor and swapping of weapons. I also mentioned that on Reddit to other fans. It's wait and see. If you can bring armor with you, then yeah, a bow without constitution is kind of a waste.

I didnt even know i could backstep out of guard and this is like my third or fourth most used weapon :/

Just so you know, rising slash from shield to unsheeth, if performed fast enough, does benefit from crit draw. Just tested this with 0% affinity and crit draw 3, it will always crit from sheeth to shield + rising slash. This does not apply to any hit follow up of backstep from sheeth.

I came from MHFU and MHP3RD and people back then pick SNS for their elemental purposes and now in newer gens I was so confuse as to why people started building mostly raw damage SNS and not Elemental, did they nerf the elemental damage of SNS of something, cuz isn't high elemental and status effect one of the whole selling points of SNS.

Something I just recently found out about the SnS was how to use the slinger burst. I just wish it wasn't so clunky to setup (at least using KnM) cause being able to slinger burst into perfect rush is very fun and doesn't require the normal backstep.

I cannot reliably begin perfect rush at all in combat. Outside of combat I can have no issue triggering it, but the moment a monster is in front of me, the leap back will almost always only combo intro an advancing slash and I cannot replicate this outside of combat at all to figure out what's causing it. Can anyone explain where I'm going wrong?

The roll guard uppercut to dismount then perfect rush is next on my things to learn list. Thx

Once, recently, i hit the backstep as Velkhana tried to stab me, and hit the forward leap right as he hit the 2nd stab right where i had been a frame before. Didnt get the clip though😢

When you have Inspiration and use a transferrable healing item, such as Lifepowder, you will see the usual green particle effect around your character (for the healing) but also a red particle effect (for Inspiration). These two particle effects are seen on teammates as well.

Missing my favorite trick I learned from watching a speedrun: Guard rolling into slinger burst into perfect rush Starting with weapon sheathed. Was the game changer that made me love sns. Trick is needing to hold a direction while holding slinger aim (delayed a bit to not claw uppercut) and timing the slinger mode change/ It should look instant slinger burst at the end of the roll looking like you were in the slinger burst mode in the first place not seeing the switch as sns seems to swap back to normal slinger every time stowed and drawed again.

As a new SNS main coming from the Glaive I found this guide very useful without going deep into stuff that felt obvious or useless. Fantastic guide
