      The sad part is that even when they tried even in sunbreak it seems some of the details are lost in translation, until some people in forums checking out the japanese version if not just datamined it. Guess eventually, but it'll be a long way till its perfect.

      @@Cynvicta It's been a problem for so long, I think it has to be on purpose. Even the localized names of skills make little sense like Chain Crit, etc.

      The fact we're still calling it 'Affinity' in 2022 is just a giant failure of localizing that they've intentionally maintained to this day.

      @@Kasaaz haha, and i still find it silly that the anti-wyvern skill is called anti-dragon cause in the japanese its not wyvern but dragon and elder dragon
      But yeah it gets worse here with some dango stuffs, iirc super recovery or something make it sounds like lv 1-3 regens your health if the monster can see you while 4 regens all the time. Meanwhile based on the japanese version and actual test 1-3 heals when you are not in the presence of the monster while 4 just regens all the time. Definitely not a great experience, like this is rpg and some skills they decide to use words like slightly and greatly, while on others its % numbers

    Kind of a pity, really. Out of all the possible oil buffs they could have carried over, they went for the useless one. They had four different options and they went for the single one that didn't make much of a difference. Like, imagine if they had picked the Stamina Oil instead, people would be all over that shit, even if it only lasted 30 seconds and consumed 2 wirebugs.
    Minds Eye oil might not have been hugely popular, simply because getting 2 ranks of Minds Eye on your build is really easy in Rise, but both Affinity and Stamina could have been huge.

    I mean it has one use case in sunbreak as you can basically have it for free and swap to shoryu after using it and that is farming anomaly quests. Every part break has a chance to give you afflicted parts so with destroyer oil on youll break more parts overall without sacrificing anything on your set to do so. If you are a madman like me aiming to craft absolutly everything it sure can help getting an extra part break or two in those quests.

      it's +20% part damage, but not +20% part break rewards. Intuitively it seems the same, but no. By the end of the fight, most of that bonus part break damage ends up being vs parts you already broke. It has good synergy with Bloodrite so you can get the first couple part breaks 20% sooner into the fight.

      To add insult to injury to all of this, it isnt even a pure buff. It could be disadvantageous for us to flinch because we have trex range, and the player can't be expected to control that. In your typical hunt you could be hitting hard spots, wyvern riding, getting interrupted by monsters, no one can reasonably take advantage of every flinch with those factors

    • @SKY85sr
      @SKY85sr  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You’re absolutely right. No player can really control when a monster flinches unless they are counting the damage or have a mod that shows part hp. And in multiplayer it’s basically impossible.
      I’ve been saying this all the way back when Destroyer Oil was first introduced that it wouldn’t be good. And it’s not. There is a non insignificant number of people who would say “just switch skill swap, ez,” but why swap to a useless move? Hence, the trolling.

    • @KanyewestFT1W
      @KanyewestFT1W 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SKY85sr I brought up on one of your old videos that swapping was also risky as it wastes approximately 10 seconds, and in that 10 seconds you could miss a roar or a key move that could be metsud. Back then I just saw it as suboptimal as hell, knowing now its only 20%???? Its no longer suboptimal, its straight up detrimental, I can't even recommend it for casual play as the move does little damage, has an awkward hit box, slow as hell AND leaves you wide open to get hit both before and after application.
      It's booty cheeks through and through. Even if it didn't cost a wirebug, it'd still be bad.

I'm still having it on my second loadout but the duration isn't worth the effort and wirebug cost honestly. At this point I'm thinking about switching to Windmill for cutting tails or so. yes, tho if you really want to break something you bring rapid fire slicing bowguns with partbreaker. What is not told in the video is that this synergize as well with stamina thief(lvl1 drian deco). Partbreaker and stamina thief both make oil much better but it's still a decent-ish standalone refresh on side scroll, at the end of the day it's not as good as a sraight damage buff, damage also flinches and break parts you know ^^'.

    SNS is pretty solid now, and the oils were a way to help it keep up with the other weapons in a previous game. I guess they thought the other oils would be too strong so they brought back the worst one, but the problem is exactly that. Not to mention it has to compete with 2 other pretty good silkbind moves that completely outclass it. Destroyer oil was dead on arrival, they probably should have put it in the other silkbind slot along with the shield advance thing. Maybe it would have stood a chance then... Maybe.

      SnS in Sunbreak has one of the lowest dps out of all the weapons right now, so something like Chaos Oil wouldn’t have been overpowered. Even something like hammer’s Impact Press would have been so much better.
      Conversely, imagine if hammer got something like Destroyer Oil instead of Impact Press. Back to Impact Crater spam it is!

      as much as I love sns and would play it anyways. I can see how they overlook the weapon.
      - ok lets fix that imobile shield slash attack that no ones uses because it doesn't do anything, it doesn't start the combo from the half of it, it doesn't allow you to do anything useful, any ideas?
      - uhm... since is an attack you do while defending... power armor?
      - oh, and maybe chain it to perfect rush, that would be great for an option without jumping back
      - right, power armor, perfect rush.... okay, so it will be a extremely precise counter which can only counter really small attacks and only chains to perfect rush if you actually try to do it without us telling about it :D

      As far as I know, Partbreaker only works on parts that can be broken. Once you’ve broken that part, Partbreaker stops working.
      Even if they did stack (I’m sure it does), Destroyer Oil is still garbage.

      @@AyBee9725 well what you said is the intention, and in this video he explained that on implementation it barely made any differences.
      You'll get to knockout monsters, trip and even stun the monster during a hunt and as this interupt the flinch hp threshold the ideal possibility of adding 3 more flinches wouldn't really matter as you are less likely to reach that supposed ideal number either way.
