2024 Ford Maverick XL review- It's trying it's best

After driving the Ford Maverick 2,500 miles across the country I have a few things to say about it. So here's my 2,500 mile Road Trip review.
Los Angeles to Tampa- 2,500 Mile time lapse, 46 MPG
มุมมอง 185หลายเดือนก่อน
This is my biggest road trip time lapse yet. In this time lapse me and my mom drove from Anaheim, California (right by Los Angeles, which you probably know where that is), and drove to Clearwater, Florida. (Clearwater is right by Tampa). Either way, we took her 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid XL instead of the Mirage. I drove most of the trip. I didn't drive on the first bit from Anaheim, to San Dieg...

In this video I went down to the beach in San Diego, very popular place. Was early in the morning, so less busy. Was nice to see the city lights. Then I went down to the Salton Sea, and got to take a few roads I don't normally, which was a nice adventure! Then on the way back I went up CA-243 through Idyllwild.

Mitsubishi Mirage high altitude, uphill, freeway acceleration

Here is a high altitude acceleration, on a 6% uphill grade in the 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage ES. It has plenty of power to drive in the mountains, I find going up these high elevation hills, it's happy to sit at 55 MPH with cruise control, the engine RPM doesn't go over 3,000 doing that. But that's just me in the car, no luggage, or AC. With 4 people, plus luggage, plus AC, you probably can't go 70...

This is a 0-60 I did, I captured it on my dash camera, so no tachometer view. Either way, this was full throttle for 31 seconds to get to 60 MPH. This was going up a steep hill, at an elevation of about 8,000-8,200 feet above sea level. I also had close to the maximum weight capacity in the car. About 750 LB. The maximum the car is rated for is 827 LB. The car climbed up the mountain just fine....

Puting it on sports mode for clime gives better RPM and puts less stress to the engine, low rpm is not always better sence it puts more compression and cumbustion presure on your engine and yiu have to press more throttle, in higher rpm you can let the momentum of the engine help yiu get more power without puting so much throttle and, presure on the cylinders.

These cars can go 80 MPH. I am in Florida as well right now, Clearwater, Florida. But why bother going 80 MPH? You lose a ton of MPG. You will loose about 25 MPG going 80 MPH instead of 55 MPH, or 60 MPH. Yes, you need to have the car on to release the electronic parking brake under typical operating conditions. Welcome to 2024. That is common with all cars with electronic parking brakes. No need to be extra about it. The key won’t break. You’re special. Maybe your mother should’ve bought a vehicle with options so you can stop complaining. You seem to complain about the sun rising in the morning. Maybe it’s you who has the problem. I wondered who bought a mirage. Now I know. Had to leave early because I couldn’t listen anymore.

True, I didn't look up how to reset it, I was driving across the country and didn't remember to read it. The screen kept fixing it's self, it just took a long time. I restarted the truck several times, that doesn't fix it. But after 8 hours it just randomly started working. I'm not saying the key will break, it's just alarming how it's loose it feels. It may be fine, it may not be. I don't know. It just doesn't feel strong. The parking break thing is fine, it's just annoying because I can have the truck in drive, and the break won't turn off. Need to sit there for a while. I know it's normal, just annoying. The door panels are very rough, like sand paper. On a huge trip it tore the skin off my elbow. To add to that, the blower motor isn't working properly, the transmission is leaking oil, door seals aren't installed right, it just isn't that good. I'd expect better for a new car. I'm not saying it's a bad truck, it's just things I dislike about it. I want to like it, just several things I dislike about it. The truck is more luxury than my car, that can be a very good thing depending what you want. The truck gets amazing MPG. The truck is great down hills. The truck has plenty of power, you don't hear the engine. The truck has good seats. It's just the quality of it, and the door panels, and the screen not working, and parking break not turning off some times, that bugs me a lot. As well as all the messages on the gage cluster when you start the truck.

I have 2017, ES trim, 5 speed manual. You can drive fast in winding back roads.

It's perfect timing! I think it's one of my neighbors. I've seen it go up and down the street one other time recently.

Thanks! I haven't been able to drive it for about 35 days at this point. I am in Florida away from the mitsubishi. Instead I am in the ford. Can't wait to get back in the mitsubishi. I don't like the Ford maverick.

Question to you ExtraLock... how hard is it to replace the cartridge filter on the cvt... was there a lot of stuff to move out of the way first?

It is very easy, so some people go and remove the driver wheel, and wheel well plastic. But if you know what you're looking for, you can do it without taking the wheel off, as you can still see clearly inside there. (Extra light if you have the hood open). The filter is held in with 1 screw, then you twist the filter housing to the (either left, or right), I think right. Then pull out while doing so.

Instructions say always place broiling tray on rack. Mine doesn't fit, does yours? Luckily i have a pan like yours that fits

I'm not sure to be honest. I am in Florida right now and I am exactly 2,517 Mi away from my toaster oven. So I have no idea what it says. But either way it won't hurt it. It's just two heating elements to get really hot and a thermostat that turns on and off. Everything inside the oven is meant to get super hot so it doesn't really matter all that much probably.

Mine doesn't fit either... Have you used it without the rack?
