Dude, I just figured out why TH-cam told me that you mentioned me it’s in the description of your darn video lol. Dude that’s so cool of you to do that man that really is so cool and you’re a pretty damn Cool Dude yourself. I’ve noticed some of your videos are getting a ton of views man and I’m really proud of you. You’re really good at what you do never be discouraged when videos don’t get a lot of views keep in mind dude I do a ton of videos and most of them don’t get a lot of views Compared to the amount of subscribers I have just keep on doing this because I know you really love doing it and don’t ever ever expect money to come in. Just continue doing it because you love doing it and you love showing your fans what you do that’s the real way to have your legitimate TH-cam channel and I know you’re just like me, bro. If the money rolls in, that’s an absolute bonus, but just keep up your passion because I can feel it every second of every video you are a rare TH-camr and you deserve all the good coming your way.
Thanks! My channel "lock dot 2" actually is monetized, I make a whopping $12 from 50,000 views a month. Lol. Not much. I made shorts, I should have made 16x9 videos instead. It's okay! ;p Anything is a bonus over nothing. I do this for fun, it's fun reading the comments.
Dude, the video is so long and I mean that in a good way. I really enjoy videos like this because I can keep it on in the background when I have to get up and do something and it feels like I’m on a road trip with you. It’s really cool. You notice I do the same thing with my videos but when I’m driving around Big Bear, the longest it’ll be is like an hour and a half when I drive through the whole entire town back-and-forth up and down and all around We should do a video together someday driving around the mountain. I think that would be awesome. You can record your channel and I’ll record for my channel lol
Dual recording! ;o I think that would be a fun thing to try some day. I like long videos, but I don't like long videos with ads in the middle.. This channel isn't monetized, but my other 2 are. When I'm monetized I can turn off mid-roll ads, but how it is now, TH-cam just randomly ads them and I don't even get paid for them. I want none of them so the video is even better in the background! Someday maybe it will let me turn them off. ;p
My brother from another mother. So I got notified about your new video yesterday but then also today I got notified about you mentioning me. I don’t understand what that means? So I’m going through the video the whole thing. I try to watch the whole videos, bro I really do. I don’t even watch all my videos lol But how are you doing, bro? And you were correct about all your information and this doesn’t matter but Highway 330 starts in Highland literally right where Redlands meets Highland. And then ends up in running Springs. Again, I don’t think it even matters, but just trying to give some love and a little help to my friend I hope we get to meet this winter time, bro
I mentioned you in the video comments saying to go check your channel out, as I can't make nearly as quick updates up there as you can, being I have a full time job, and a part time job (TH-cam), and have doctors and other things and live 100+ miles away. That would be awesome if we could meet up! Highway 330 is a mysterious highway to me. I try to avoid it. Crowds aren't for me, busy roads aren't either. But it is a nice scenic road!
So right after you left your house and you were talking about you’re gonna take the 38 from now on I want you to know that’s the same route. I always sent my mom up even though it is longer and it does hit the highest elevation of any road in the mountain range Because it doesn’t have as many curves with as many areas to fall off the mountain that’s the I send my mom on when there is snow in the area. It can be very hit and miss towards the top though because sometimes that part of the mountain range will get a ton more snow and sometimes it’ll get significantly less but it’s always a lot colder up there so you have to be careful but I think it’s safer than Highway 330 or even taking Highway 18 the whole length. So my point is good job on your decision-making of course if you need to get up to Big Bear quickly, especially the side of town where your house is then yes Highway 330 is gonna be a lot faster. It’ll take you about an hour and 15 minutes or an hour and 30 minutes from the bottom of Highway 38 to get all the way to your place. But if you had your house on the other side of town like in Irwin Lake or Lake Williams Highway 38 would technically be faster than if you drove up Highway 330
You are correct! Highway 38 seems the safest, just be carful down before, and slightly after Angeles oaks, those corners catch me off guard sometimes, I go to fast down the hill! LOL The 18 from the back side is nice, but it's a real struggle up the hill, it's what, a 12% grade? It's absurd! 330 Is the fastest though, then the 18 is the 2nd fastest. The 18 is quite neat how it has so many passing lanes on the way up.
I don’t know what type of camera you’re using but unfortunately in a lot of the video even while it’s still light outside it’s really really dark and it’s really hard to see anything and I know it’s not my phone because I just got a brand new iPhone 16 Pro Max plus so with my phone when I’m recording especially at night I’ll use the 4K at 30 frames per second instead of 60 frames per second or instead of 120 frames per second when I use the 30 frames per second. It makes it brighter for me. Again, dude, I’m only trying to help because your videos deserve the quality They deserve.
Thanks! I am not sure what I am doing wrong, I don't know why it is doing that, maybe I need a different camera setting? I use my Samsung J7 for the dash camera, then my Samsung A71 for the gauge cluster. It probably should be the J7 for the gauge cluster, and A71 for the dash camera, since the A71 is more fancy.
Good advice on driving on snow or ice. My paramedic son-in-law has literally had to pick up pieces of people who slid off the side of a mountain here. Traumatic for the first responders, not to mention the family.
@ Well, that was some years ago that he ran the ambulance in the mountains. Now he runs it in Atlanta. More gunshot victims than bad accidents. But not very many of either. Mostly things like strokes and heart attacks.
Yes, people should be taught about engine braking. We didn’t have mountains to learn in, only a few hills. I learned it well once I got my little 5-speed straight-shift Mazda.
That is awesome! Yes, I fully agree! Engine braking is very important! 1 Thing to note, sometimes it is still not enough. A road near me is a 26% grade, the engine braking even in "1st" in CVT terms, the car is at 6,000 RPM at 50+ MPH down the hill while riding the brakes. Not good! In a manual I wonder if it would over-rev the engine?
@ We were taught that one could over-rev the engine, damaging it. Shifting down in a manual transmission car must be done within certain speeds for each gear. I would shift down slowly, watching the tachometer to make sure I wasn't red-lining it.
I fully agree about the brake light thing. I’ve actually thought of that. If I’m braking unexpectedly but not smashing them to the floor, I apply them with a rapid application to make the brakes flash on and off. It doesn’t work if you must slam on brakes.
We had one van that went through two transmissions before we were advised to put a transmission cooler on. Bingo. No more problems. So when I bought my used Ford Expedition some years back, one of the first things I did was to have a trans cooler installed.
A transmission cooler is very handy on transmissions that get hot. Also changing the fluid every roughly 30,000 miles is also a great thing to do. Lots of people don't ever service them.
I thought I saw you comment in one of your other videos that you had flooded the car twice ...I just bought this exact same car a month ago...how did that happen?
I remember him talking about it and I pretty much forgot so I’d like to hear how that happened again and congratulations on your car. That’s pretty bad ass dude.
Awesome! How do you like the new car? ;o I was in very cold weather, below freezing, and I started, and stopped the car in the driveway about 5 or 6 times in a short period of time without letting it run for very long, just a few seconds.. It was my fault. In any gas car, you don't want to do that.
Hey, just so you know my first few years even when I got to 1000 subscribers, I was still playing my background music and TH-cam demonetized everything on the spot and even today I’ll get notifications that they have demonetized a video from eight years ago or 10 years ago. So even playing your music really quietly in the background, just be careful. There is something called the fair use act or something like that but maybe you could enlighten me on that you’re much smarter than I am. Maybe you could do a little research for the both of us and find out exactly how that works. For instance, if we’re walking through the village and we’re passing a store and they have music playing on their speakers outside TH-cam will try to demonetize the video and we should be able to fight it through the fair use act because we’re not intentionally playing the music. it just happens to be in the area where we went if that makes any sense. Let me know what you know about that.
Alright, from my understanding, let's say you play the song Hotel California, it will be demonetized. But you can play it for like 3, or 5 seconds and it's fine. The best thing to do is to not use copyright music, which TH-cam actually has a library of 1,000's of copyright free music. How I play the music in the background is from a 2 hour video I posted it's a time lapse driving 2,500 miles to northern Nevada, and to Mammoth as well. It works good but it sadly has ads so I keep having to skip the ads on my video.. It's annoying. 2,500 Mile video: th-cam.com/video/m8yfkZYa43k/w-d-xo.html Copy right free music from TH-cam: th-cam.com/users/audiolibrary
Dude, I don’t know how it took you 16 minutes to drive up Highway 18 on the backside even if you’re going a little bit less than the speed limit should only take you about 10 1/2 minutes that’s how long it takes me without any traffic to get up and down from the very top all the way down to the Mitsubishi plantso you must be really really driving like a snail and I appreciate that because it’s better to be safe than sorry but driving the speed limit on Highway 18 down to Lucerne Valley. Most people can get down in under 10 minutes literally from the very top.
I started the stop watch at Camp Rock Road turning left onto CA-18, not the Mitsubishi plant. The 18 is very steep, I am only able to make it to about 15 MPH in the steepest parts, sometimes 20, it's very steep! When it gets more flat with the area where people can pass, I get up to around 45 or 50 MPH. Then going back up hill again towards the top it's closer to 25 to 30 MPH.
Awesome! Did you find any fire ants? What do fire ants feel like when they get mad? Have you ever experienced it? I've never got to feel one. I'm kind of happy about that.
@ I think every Georgian has experienced fire ants. They both bite and sting so you get a double whammy with each ant, and if not careful you can get covered quickly with dozens or even hundreds. Yea, I found about 5 mounds but it’s winter. In summer I’ve found up to 2 dozen. I feed them poison bait.
