The day after I recorded this video they closed the 38 down due to the fire. But when I went up they also had the 18 and 330 closed. So now that the 38 is closed there is only one way down the mountain and that's through Lucerne valley. It's a nice drive it's just a lot longer.
@@extralock1045 I reckon. Not recently of any size that I know of. The last time we had smoke in the air was from a fire in one of the Carolinas. That was a few years ago. Here's one Stat -- "Georgia averages over 2,300 wildfires annually with an average size of 7 acres per fire." Seven acres isn't big at all.
@@lynnstillwell2 7 Acers is pretty large, but not large compared to the nonsense we have.. FIFTY THOUSAND ACERS IN A DAY!... Yes, a local fire grew 50,000 acers, in the span of about 24-30 hours.
After listening to the newer video, yes, there's a big difference in road noise. I mean, I hear you fine in this, but the other is better. -- And you talked about EV's. I agree that better planning can overcome some obstacles, but there is definitely less freedom. We have had to pick up at a moment's notice and travel to a family member who had a bad accident, and we had to push through and get there as soon as possible. We couldn't have made the 12-hour trip in 12 hours with an EV. I will say, my son and daughter that have hybrids absolutely love them. They get insane highway mileage.
@@extralock1045 Oh that was a long time ago. We were living in Indiana at the time, and our daughter in Texas had a rappelling accident and fell 6 stories. She smashed up her back and her feet and a heap of other bones, and at one time in ICU had a 50% chance of making it. But she survived by God's grace and lived to marry and have 4 kids. She'll always have problems where her injuries were but we are just grateful she lived. That was in 2003.
I went through the same thing about two weeks ago. Altogether, It was over 22,000 miles and the Falkens it came with I was told two tires were 7/32 and the other two were 5/32. I could have went longer but my mechanic said to get new ones so I did.
Lol... I'm the same as you ... I can't understand speech if there is other noise going on. They tested my hearing, and when they put other noise through the headphones, I could not understand the voice. There are getting aids that help with that, but I haven't gone that route yet.
@@lone-wolf1248 I don't think it's the hardest. I think mainly it's just me struggling to word things together. Aren't there any languages much harder? Mandarin maybe
I've been considering getting that car, but I have a big mountain to climb over too, I'm surprised the cop didn't pull you over for going too slow! I guess it makes sense to go slow so the engine doesn't overheat, but either way it's working hard I would think.... Idk, sad that of course America always wants to get rid of items that are true good quality, everything is throw-away now, it's all about money!
You shouldn't drive for a long time on a 1\4 tank or lower you can risk overheating the fuel pump or sucking up debris at the bottom of the tank that can clog fuel injectors and lines.
You're right! I do know the risks, and need to fill up more.. But I don't.. Sometimes I roll in with WAY too little gas.. I don't like going to the gas station and put it off as long as possible. An EV seems so nice in that regard, just plug it in like your phone and it's done.
I'm glad you got this done before the fires got worse. I'll be watching this in bits,as I do with the long ones.

Are there fires in Georgia ever?

Listening to your comments about the strange weather and smoke is interesting
If it was smoke ...
I'm not sure. The weather is just really weird.
25,000 miles -- awesome!
Now 27,993.

109 F to 59 F... That's insane!
It certainly is!
Driving fast heats up the tires more. I reckon that degrades the material faster.
That might do it! I was looking good I almost need new tires after 25,000 mi.

Smart advice about braking on long downhills.
Yep! Just try not to use them a bunch.
I'm still watching! I'm up to the 2-hour mark.
That's a long time you been watching! Thanks Lynn!
I'm near the end. You've gotten awfully quiet. I dozed off twice when you weren't talking!😆
Done!😊

Interesting! I guess that's the type of deafness?
I'm not sure what to do to reduce the road noise in the video. It picks up a lot more road noise than in person, and it's annoying.
The road noise isn't bothering me, since I can understand your talking clearly. I do hear the air conditioner as well, but again, it's not too bad.

Fuel pumps are very expensive too, which is a good reason to fill up more.
