5 HABITS I Picked Up in SWEDEN That Only Swedes Will Understand! *am I turning Swedish?*
We've talked a lot about Swedish people, their traditions and customs over the past year on this channel, but today we're going to be digging into some of those giveaway signs that someone must be Swedish! How can you tell someone is Swedish during your first conversation with them? Are there certain behaviours, activities or customs to look out for that all Swedes do? Since this is going to be my last upload for a while, I decided why not dig into some of the customs and traditions I've learned to associate with Swedes. I guess you could call it the things I myself have begun to do that confuses all my English friends!

Danes going to Sweden to buy booze?! Are you alright, mate????
When it comes to SVT's Christmas Calendar, "Trolltider" from 1973 is really good, and for me its the best.
Thank you for clarifying, "...not dated yourself"... I started a panic attack then you clarified.
Well, if a Swedish woman goes on a date with a non-Swedish guy, him opening the door is considered exotic and welcome.
I'm someone trying to relocate my whole family for work... so yea
didn't understand a single word you said, mate. I'm a bloody yank from "the states" and don't speak Swedish.
You missed Donald Duck at Three pm on Christmas afton, also there isn’t a limit on the present game, there is a minimum of like 100kr (I usually bring two presents).
Afton= evening
You really should have used creme fraishe instead of sourcream as sourcream makes the filling too wet and runny.
I stoped in the middle once yoy reached for the Zeunerts and said yoy thought this might be the one. For me thats the best Julmust there is, its a little closer to beer without being beer and i think of it more like a grown ups Julmust it may take some gwttong used to. However the Apotekarnas is my everyday must that i consumme much pf, Zeunerts is more of a treat, something i save for christmas dinners and such.
I mean phonetically Danish might be very different, but it is a very close language ... You can notice it when reading Danish .... it is almost as a dialect ..
I dont agree with that everyone is active. Perhaps compared to other counties. For example I can only think of one person that I know goes to a gym at all. However, with that said, swedes are usually very active and things like a dayhike isn't even thought of as excersize.
First and foremost! The so-called Sweden consists of 4 historical nationalities and their countries: Gutland, Sápmi, Skåneland and Sweden itself. There is a huge difference in the food we use and eat. For example, in Österlen and several parts of the Scania region (a third of Scania), the Christmas celebration always begins with a Smörgåsbord, you can eat it at quality restaurants called Gästgiveri. then comes Sillabor, (a herring table consisting of many different herring inlays, always served with spiced schnapps (after that a lot of stilts, brown cabbage, red cabbage, Christmas ham, pantoflor (potato in Scanian), ribs, pig's feet, etc. To this you drink Mumma. and schnapps. Later in the evening there will be supper! Christmas porridge Rice porridge with juice.
An old Julkalender that I loved and my oldest daughter loves now is "Pettson and Findus." It aired 1993, still love it and all the little characters in it. 😁
I will never understand why americans really like to tell their whole lifestory and privacy. That is NOT comfortable. That makes me feel sick. Disrespectful USA.
my fav pizza has berrys, nuts, fruit XD banana, pineapple, curry, peanuts, ham
We are Irish Americans and celebrate both on Christmas Eve and Christmas, and then the 12 days of Christmas, up to Old Christmas. Lots of celebrating.
I love all of the swedish foods you mentioned. BUT i have never tried sill..as a sweeed that's insane i know. I grew up as a picky child, and it just always seemed like something i wouldn't like-.
Too fast speaking, try to slowed a little. The rest is fine.
what if you dont go and keep active lol and just want too relax all the time
A commonly overlooked thing Sweden does better is snow clearing. Sure you hear about those high taxes going to education\healthcare, but there is no such thing as a “snow day” in Sweden. Come snow, hell, or high water…you can still get around.
Im obsessed with London and planning to move there in the future
The smörgåstårta is just like an amazing sandwich that you can share with everyone. I make my own with very different fillings and ingredients. Love to have something savoury and sour. Then I like to top it with grapes which is amazing as a sweet note to it all.
My parents are European and our Christmas dinner is aleays filled with a lot of foods too 😂
Rödbetsallad/Beetroot sallad is my favourite condiment. It's easy to make (a small batch) yourself. All you need is a jar of pickled beetroot, and good mayo. (Like Hellman's). You can mix the beetroot sallad with a blender, for a smooth pink mayo/dressing. And you can use it as a base for herring sallad with hardboiled eggs...
Hi dude appreciate it your video. Where you from in uk ? How you doing in sweden it's a similar country or mush differents obs appart the darkens
Swedes like to question you like on a job interview…the best question that killed me twice was “is that all you gonna be or are you gonna aim for more with your specialty”. Im saving lives and Im fluffin happy.
Soda stream actually came out in the 70;s
1. really good culture with normal activity is the norm, not the exception (I'm much more limited now due to disability, but love to see people active) 2. everyone supports each other's caffeine addiction (honestly would be annoying if people didn't shut up about coffee/caffeine drinks like they do in the USA. Do people constantly talk about drinking coffee? Or do they simply do it?) 3. July is the holy month (reference to USA everyone taking off during holy days (sometimes with no exception which is big problem)) 3. Expect more trend to vacation throughout year, rather than all in July 4. Lack of light pollution (I feel I already lack this where I am but maybe I just don't understand) 5. Everything is queue to be in queue (which is good system overall, though doesn't make sense when there isn't a queue hence why some places with low amount of people got rid of it where I've lived, but I still see it in places with long queues and/or multiple booths in USA) thanks for sharing, I absolutely love to see #1 and is one of many things that make Sweden so attractive to me.
I'm so damn tired of foreigners who have been to Copenhagen and then make youtube videos about what they think is Denmark.............. NO, Copenhagen is not Denmark, Denmark is so much more than Copenhagen! but nobody finds out if they only travel to Copenhagen. The cost of living is also completely different, in the main country, than in Copenhagen, as is so much else. If people only visit Stockholm or Malmö, they will never find out what Sweden and the Swedes are like!
You would expect surströmmingsstuffed turkey, dancing to ABBA and drinking Coca-Cola under a Cuckoo-clock.
Whipped cream in Smörgåstårta??? Thats soooooo wrong 😝
Rydbergs är den godaste. Lidls rödbetssallad smakar äckligt.
I always want pineapple on my pizza!
"Fruit on pizza is sacrilegious" Tomatoes: Am i joke to you?
Drainnn gangggg
Grab a beer and smörgåstårta a beautiful warm day and enjoy it outside
I want to start a coffee shop I think Sweden the way to go
Swedish people are very innovative....
get a dog ...then we have something to talk about . Next time (or after 5 times )we talk about our self
think zeunerts påskmust has a bit of a sweet fruitiness to it, definitely the best julmust
Zeunerts have the best julmust by far!
Im swede, I didnt know about the Altantik thing.
Zeunerts is the best 🍻
Being patient for a “que” is so European 🙄 That’s why capitalism is the best model. If you can’t satisfy my needs I will go to someone who will dammit. And this is why America is the greatest country in existence.
In the USA there are many religious states who will not allow coffee!! mormons have never allowed it. We were taught it is a drink of evil and my insurance still asks if Im a "user" of what?? "COFFEE" omg !
Wait.. You gonna convert to islam?
In Sweden, we started with deposits on glass bottles as early as 1884.
Falukorv = sausage from Falun. Similar to the American bologna. Vasterbottenost is similar to Parmiggiano. but much better. Expensive because only produced in a small area.
Thank you !!!
I've always liked it simple when it comes to a date no pressure, plus I hate spending money unless I have too.
