If i do this nail removal procedure, will i be able to play football after the first week or something or would i have to wait until the nail fully grows back?
Isn’t a small tight elastic band applied to stop blood pouring everywhere
Hi! Yes, always when performing a partial nail avulsion with phenolisation - see th-cam.com/video/PBc3HVmaZO8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=25OKQQCR-XQUrL2c It could have also been used for this procedure but wasn't necessary. Thanks for the comment 🙌
I rather see the video without all the talking
Thanks for the feedback 🙌
I rather you talk less
Thanks for the feedback 🙌
Shorten your videos by about 60%
You want it to get straight to the action, huh? 😇
Sir. Those pliers does not fithis toe
Thanks for your comment. But it worked 🤷♂️ 😇
Man I wish there is a podiatrist here where I live cuz I have one rn and there’s no podiatrist here just local manicure and the way they remove it hurts like hell just sum good ol alcohol some nippers and blades are what they use I’ve had it removed 5 to 6 times already
Ouch, sorry to hear that! What country are you? Hope you can find a podiatrist. Thanks for sharing 🙌
Maurelio from Brazil is the best. So loving, cares so much for patients. We need him here. UK no injections needed,
@@thelondonpodiatrist I live in the Philippines in camarines Norte province so there is not really a city around the nearest city is 4 to 6 hour’s away 🫤
Had to watch this on mute coz i just couldn’t with music 🙉
I'm so surprised to hear that so many people can't tolerate the background music. I definitely have learned from this for future videos. Unfortunately, I can not remove the audio from this particular video, but I'm thinking of uploading the video as a separate video without any music 🤔
@@thelondonpodiatrist it's a learning curve when it comes to youtubing I guess. Well the fact that you're talking in the video we don't need the extra sounds. I came across your video from watching The Toe Bro because I like watching how others do their treatments.
Nice video and good to see one from the UK😊
Thanks very much, and thanks for watching 😇
Me thinks the sharp tool caused the bleeding, could have been done better,,Also the shadows make the detail in parts unseeable ,better lighting required
Actually, quite a few non specialists think the same as you. Watch again, though. The bleeding trickles out of the hole that the nail was pierced into. After the spike was taken out, there's a hole in the toe. The blood trickles out of it. Thanks for feedback about lighting 🙌
You need to add more ring light. Its so dark
Thanks for feedback. I'll upgrade the lighting 🙌
I’ve had this done on both the left and right big toes. It was an easy recovery. Even after the local anesthesia wore off, it was less painful than before. A year later and still no pain. Best thing I’ve done. I didn’t notice how much they were hurting until they no longer hurt. So glad I did this.
Thanks for sharing your good experience. Glad it went so well for you 🙏
I recently got two big watery blisters on my right foot, I can't even walk properly cause of that. Turns out that the main reasons was the shoes. I will need to take few days rest before starting to workout again.
Hope the video helped and that you can prevent the blisters returning. Thanks for sharing your experience 🙌
What is the antibiotic cream? Futidic acid? How often does the Botox treatment need to be to be administered?
Hi, yes, fusidic acid cream can help. Botox injections typically last around 7+ months, according to a study I recently read. Thanks for the comment! 😊
Camera angle bad can't see .
Thanks for the feedback 🙌
If you spoke less, you wouldn't need a part 2
Thanks for the feedback 🫶
Please ignore the negative feedback. I watched both parts and felt nothing wrong with them. I learned a few and was able to get the spike myself (tho it hurt, I already feel better). Thank you for your videos! @@thelondonpodiatrist
Thanks. Glad the videos were helpful. 🙌
how to cure a groin pull
Unfortunately, it's not my area of expertise 😇
You're the -Toe Bro- Toe Bloke!
Lol, I love that guy 😎
I’m curious as to what you hope to gain with the background noise!
I thought it was relaxing. Obviously not for some people! Unfortunately, I cannot remove the music from this video unless I edit and reupload. Thanks for the feedback
Nice work but I would use a blade instead of big awkward nippers 👍
Nice. Sounds like you are very skilled 💪 thanks for commenting 🙌
Me and my friend are both 11, she has many ingrown toenails that often have to be removed. How does she get through this????😨😨
Hi! Unfortunately it's hard to give individual advice without examining the patient. It's best to see a good podiatrist close to you for a tailored plan. This might involve regular maintenance, using surgical spirit to keep some areas dry, wearing shoes with wide toe boxes to prevent pressure to the sides of the nails etc. Wishing your friend the best with it 🙌
Thx for the video. My 11 year old daughter loves sports and since she is training in a semi professional team several times a week she started having this problem. The orthopedics here in germany told her there is nothing much she can do despite of orthoses and surgery with 14 if it doesnt get any better till then. They also told her she should definately continue with her basketball training. However sometimes the pain is so bad that she cant go or gets mad at herself because she cant put in as much effort as she would like to. I dont want to make her stop what she loves but do you think its good to continue with basketball like that? And do you think at times she could use some antiflamatory cream even if she is just 11? Thx a lot
Hi! Sorry to hear about your daughter. It's difficult to give personal advice without examining her. General advice is to listen to your body and don't push activities too much. Your Dr may be able to prescribe some anti inflammatory medication to help with symptoms. Usually good cushioning in the heel, heel raises and activity modification is a good path. Your Dr may be able to prescribe something to help with symptoms, or request imaging if required. Best of luck with it 🙏
Thanks for your reply. I will try and see about getting her some other softer inlets and tell her to try to take it easy a little. Luckily its not long untill the summer holidays so she can rest
Wishing you guys the best 🙌
Could athletes foot infection spread to your legs and cause swelling and severe pain with no itching?
Hi, it can spread to your legs, particularly if you scratch it. But, see your local Dr or podiatrist to examine it please. Best wishes 🙌
i currently struggle with this , watching this makes me realize i should care about my ingrown nails, having surgery once i think i need another
Glad the video helped you! Pop in to your local podiatrist sometime for some tailored advice. 💪
No music please omg.
Thanks for the feedback. I might upload another version without music as so many people have commented the same 🙏
Painful
They weren't in as much pain as I expected, though! 😃
Is it possible to get retronychia from a fingernail being jammed back into the nail bed after it’s been sutured? I jammed my finger in a door and had to get the lacerations in the nail bed stitched up. The surgeon jammed my old nail back in and now there’s a fairly firm raised section around my cuticle, and my new nail seems to be growing over the top of my old one 😐
Ouch. It's hard to say without examining it. Once sutures are removed, it shouldn't hinder any nail growth. Usually, new nails grow under the old ones. Have your nail examined by your Dr or podiatrist to be sure. All the best with it 🙌
Which one would be worse the needle from the anesthetics or just doing it yourself?
Good question! I often have this discussion with patients. Sometimes, we try without anaesthetic, and then, if too painful, do it under anaesthesia. By the way, the needle piercing the skin is usually not too bad, but the anaesthetic being injected stings more due to the acidity difference. It varies between individual how much pain they experience for the same injection. Thanks for the comment 🙌
Nothing like my surgery in US, looks very painful!!
Thanks for commenting. This is a conservative nail cut back under local anaesthesia - no pain. Watch part 2 if you'd like an explanation for this method th-cam.com/video/WCMYxuYAi_I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=1jHscvToh5O1RU7H The most common method of nail surgery, which might be what you had, is a partial nail avulsion with phenolisation. You can watch that here: th-cam.com/video/PBc3HVmaZO8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=OeDbiLb7rUrqDwxH Lots of love to you and the US 🙏
it will be painful because the nail is embedded in the skin. Not nice to slag off someone like that
Kathy's comment suggested that the procedure is painful. The procedure isn't painful if you've had an anaesthetic injection - although anaesthetic injections sting. The injection is less painful than trying to fix the nail without anaesthesia hence why it was done this way. The toe was, of course, painful before the procedure, with the spike of nail pierced deep into the toe. Hope that clarifies things. Thanks for the comment 🙏
No music required please.
Thanks for the feedback. Is it the intro music or music during the procedure that's annoying? Or both? Thanks! 🙌
@@thelondonpodiatrist My hearing has never ever been a 100%, and any music when there is someone talking has always been a problem for me. So, if you wish to talk, then please, no music at all.
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback 🙏
You talk too much
Thanks for the feedback. I'll try to figure out a way to give a detailed explanation without talking as much 🙌
@@thelondonpodiatristhis comment is silly lol. You're here to teach ppl. You're doing great man
Thanks 🙏
Does this work with groin area fungal infections?
Applying it to your feet won't help groin fungal infection (jock itch). You'll have to apply it to your groin 🤪 But, yes, cream can be used for that too. See your doctor for help 🙌
👍👍👍👍👍👍
🫶🙏
I was in pain watching this video
Ouch! 😱
Can you have this and have the swelling and redness and it’s not infected?
Hi! It's possible with the building pressure of nail, but usually, infection will soon follow. Thanks for commenting 🙌
Looks like substandard work. The nail looks like a mess.
Sounds like you need to watch Part 2... th-cam.com/video/WCMYxuYAi_I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-qhqR9osMToAWGG-
This was so satisfying to watch especially with the calming music in the backgrounds I’m doing my first nail surgery tomorrow and this was a good refresher so thank you!
Thank you. I hope the nail surgery goes well. Let me know how you get on. 🙌
Shockwave really help me. I do several months of physio but no luck and almost do alot of massage ball and tent but still no the same. Then i try shockwave then i fell better than no luck. If this PRP are ok in Polycystic Kidneys.
Thanks for sharing your journey. Wishing a quick full recovery 🙌
Hi , I was hoping someone could help me - I’ve used Terbinafine , Timodine and tablets for a couple of months I can’t seem to get rid of the redness left not itchy anymore
Hi, unfortunately I can't give personalised advice without examining in person. Try your local podiatrist / dermatologist 🙏
How can I treat fungi on my testis?
Antifungal cream normally works. It's not my area of specialty though so, see your Dr. Best of luck with it. 🙌
I just use the bottom of those floss picks. They have a sharp bottom and you can use that to get in and lift the spike. It fucking hurts tho but bite down and get it out. Feels so much better after
Ouch, sounds sore. Maybe see your local podiatrist? 🤪 thanks for the comment, wishing you the best 🙏
Omg just did the same thing, hurt like hell but worked great and got it out! No pain now thank god worth it lol
Ouch! Glad it's fixed though! 😆🙌
My phone dropped on my toe it’s ingrown
Ouch! Hope you've seen your local podiatrist! 🙌
@@thelondonpodiatrist I will
😇
The phone’s ingrown? Does it hurt when it rings?
Lol
Interesting to see that this was uploaded about a week before I had my procedure done as a result of retronychia. My right toe got infected, but my left one didn't. I had to remove my right big toenail and it grew back normally. My left one had like three layers of nail on it, but it just grew out and now it's normal again. I learned my lesson to use the right shoes when hiking.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Glad the nails have both grown back well! 🙌
I have the same thing you mentioned, but my left toe doesn't have any pain yet the toenail isn't growing and became yellowish because I couldn't cut them for about 1,5 month now. Did you also did a treatment on that toe? My right toe is about burst that how it feels, but little bit scared of the treatment as shown in this video 😅
It's hard to give individual advice here. Please see your local podiatrist when you can. They can have a close look and the best tailored advice. Hope it all goes well! 🙏
You look beautiful! And I have an ingrown toenail right now so I feel so uncomfortable :(
☺️ you're too kind. Hope you have gone to see your local podiatrist! 🙌
@@thelondonpodiatrist OH MY YOU’RE WELCOME! Thanks for giving some advice :D ! You reminded me of my childhood best friend <3 ⭐️

I remember when I was in my younger years I would get really horrible ingrown toenails, it got so bad on both feet i had to get nail avulsions on both, really appreciate the work of foot doctors you guys are great
Thank you! Glad your toes were fixed. We take our feet for granted and realise how important they are when we have a problem with them. Take care and all the best 🙏
Thank you for this video! I have a few additional questions. Should you disinfect your shower each time you shower if you have athletes foot?If so, which disinfectant do you recommend? How do you prevent it from spreading to your hands? Should gloves be used when applying ointment to your feet?
Hi! Regular bathroom cleaner should be fine. Probably not after every use is necessary but I personally would do at least twice a week. Wash hands after application of antifungal cream. Gloves can be used but not necessary. Thanks for the comment, and all the best with it 🙌
Do i have to disinfect and wash my floors, couch and beddings everyday to prevent spread and reinfection?
Hi, that shouldn't be necessary. Antifungal cream, antifungal shoe spray, and clean socks daily. All the other things just be sensible and clean periodically. All the best!
Would you recommend for us not to wear socks after applying the cream? I would make it a routine to do it daily in the mornings.
Hi! It should be fine to wear socks after applying. Usually easiest to apply thinly and wait a minute. Thanks for the comment 👍
Ibwork in manual labor and here's what I do. 1. I have two pairs of boots that I alternate each work day. 2. I apply foot powder on my feet, in my socks and in my boots before I go to work and during lunch. 3. I change socks at lunch. 4. I shower while wearing shower shoess soon as I get home and thoroughly scrub my feet. 5. I put more foot powder on my feet after drying.
I guess this works for you? Thanks for sharing 🙌
I - sanitize my feet with alcohol after every shower, - change socks daily, - wash them daily and try not to bring too much bacteria from my hands to my feet and change the towel for my feet every 3 days .. and they still smell cheesy or musty, as soon as i have socks on (which have also been sanitized with antibacterial + antifungal detergent). 😤😧☹😔 I don't drink enough water and often have high levels of stress and anxiety hormones, due to depression, stress and anxiety disorder - could those factors be relevant?
Hi, Tried some antibacterial products? Best to see your Dr for personalised advice. Thanks for commenting 🙌
