Great video! So many beauties. I think my fave are the Chanterelle pants even though I came so hear more about the Oxbow pants.
Thank you, Janet ! I love both 😊 More oxbows in Octobers vlog I think , and chanterelles in flannel in last week's Friday sews!
The pants look so great Debs!! And I’m glad you like the wave technique on the waistband !! I love how it looks, thanks for the shout out x
Aw thank you Rachael ! Glad it's not just me that doesn't love the straight lines 😂😊
Great collection Debs! I was in the small group too and thought your outfits were lovely. I agree that I feel better in clothes I made for myself.
Thanks so much
Hi, love your makes, they are great. I have the nest sweatshirt, I do need to make it up it looks lovely. Really like your bargain knit fabric, will make a wonderful pullover. The LB is a great pattern, I have made several with the bigger neck band. The coat and dress are going to be so nice and very wearable. Happy sewing.
Forgot to say how impressed I am with your knitting, Great job
Thanks Jane ! Looking forward to the LB 😊
oh thank you, helps me vanquish my perfectionist tendencies and increase my patience 😁😂😂
I love all the tops that you made! And the pants! I love the new fabrics. The knitted fabric is so pretty! I love the vest! It is so cute!!! I am so happy to hear that you are cycling!
Thank you Katinka. Am definitely getting into the habit of my shorter journeys on the bike! It was 4 degrees celsius yesterday though so not sure about when it's icy !!
@@debsmadethis I am also struggling with the cold
It's been beautiful but crispy though ....much better than damp 😁
It was so nice to listen back on your overall thoughts on this challenge. Thanks again for joining in, it was great to have you as part of the group. I totally agree about the power of wearing me made clothes, especially at difficult times. I feel like it gives me strength. And I think I am with everybody else, that hat is really fun. Wear it more!
Thanks lovely, and thanks again for setting the challenge 😊
Love the colorful knit fabric. It will be a cozy happy make. I think the pull over will be awesome.
Thanks Nancy....I just couldn't leave it behind it felt such happy colours!
Lovely makes Debs especially your sweatshirt - love it. I'm excited to be going to the Knitting and Stitching Show too and experiencing your much talked about Cone Exchange again. (I think I got some leather which was very useful the last time)
Gotta love thrifted materials ! Oo have fun what day are you going Libby?
@@debsmadethis I'm staying over Saturday and going on Sunday, when hopefully will be a bit more relaxed .
@libbykilpatrick1578 oo super! Come and say Hi if you spot me!!
@@debsmadethis Will do x
Love your chanterelles Debs. I have that same fabric but didn't know if it would be too thick for trousers- now I know it's not! Your Traveller coat is going to be gorgeous, and I love your knitted vest. Perfect autumnal colour 🧡
Thank you! Yes its a good weight....probably too thick to sleep(for me anyway) which was my orginal plan .....have got some of the coordinating check and was wondering if it was too structured for a shirt!
@@debsmadethis that's good to know, I was thinking pj's but maybe now some daytime wfh trousers instead. A shirt could be super cosy and would suit your tailored aesthetic
@KnitStitchGrow I just get so hot at night I think I'd cook !A night shirt might work or shorter pj's with a tank maybe!
Great trousers! The fabric looks divine, and so cosy. And look at you with a hand knitted garment! It's beautiful, and I'm sure you'll wear it loads.
Thank you! Yes its already in strong rotation!! 😂 I have also knitted first Christmas Angel......but it took ages!!😂
Lovely Debs - glad you are starting knitting! I’m a massive fan of the LB pullover - have at least half a dozen of them in my wardrobe - sleeveless different necklines, latest is a dress!
Ooo dress sounds fab Ruth, thanks for watching!
I love the fabric you used for the trousers. I was also very interested to see your Nest t-shirt as I have this pattern but have not attempted it yet. That coat is going to look amazing and the fabric is stunning. I like seeing what people knit as I knit too as do a lot of other people who also sew. Oh and I don't iron either, except when I am sewing!!!
Hurray for non ironers! Thanks Kate 😊
Great makes, and truly fabulous plans. That dress and coat will both be stunning!
Oh I hope so Lysa! Thanks 😊
I think you did an amazing job. So inspirational. Really shows how few things we really need - especially shoes. The stand out comment for me though was when you said your clothes supported who you are- that really resonated. I get a bit obsessed with clothes and cannot go out if I am not Co- ordinated😅😅. If something doesn’t feel right it rocks my confidence- mad I know. Anyway, thank you so much for sharing. Happy Sewing😊. Lynne
Thank you Lynne. Glad your clothes support you too! 😊
Always a joy to see you. I love seeing memade clothes styled as I think memade trousers can be hard to style in the winter in real life. We have a very similar aesthetic and colour palette. And I’ve pre - ordered my first pair of Lanx boots so an early Christmas present for me. Your Belleville jeans are in a fab colour and not one I’d necessarily gravitate toward but mix in with your blues and stripes really well.
Thank you Sarah! What a lovely thing to say 😊
That hat looks amazing on you……you must wear it often!,
Aw thank you Sandie 😊
I loved seeing all the ways you managed to style your chosen clothes. I'm amazed that you managed 90% of it with nine pieces. I always look at these challenges and think I'd like to try them but chicken out 😆
Thanks Mairead! You should have heard me on day 3 😂😂 'what have I done, these dull clothes are making me so sad' !! 😂
Oh Debs... that hat! So good on you, it suits your face beautifully. It is a must for you, don't second guess yourself, adding a dash of boho will suit your personality!!!!!
Haha! Thank Sally. Always loved a hat 😊
It was truly a pleasure to have your company along the capsule journey. I have since downloaded that waistcoat pattern and I have enough of the fabric I made my Lander pants from to make a matching one. Thanks so much for the inspiration. I also loved your shirt dress. It's a great capsule item for versatility. I think it could also have been worn open as a duster. I need to make one for my wardrobe. I love a hat but didn't get much opportunity to style my makes with my variety of chapeaux since I traveled during the 10 days. Next time... and there will be a next time for sure.
Thank you Nancy for your company in the challenge and for coming to watch here too. I loved how we inspired each other and hope that you enjoy your pompon too !! 😊
Really enjoyed this. A very wearable wardrobe and agree about a pop of colour is always uplifting. You looked wonderful in your hat, it suited you and elevates your outfits. Thanks for sharing this thoughtful challenge.
Thank you Marie! So glad you found it helpful!
I love how you put it all together; this was a good capsule. I am quite inspired by all the looks!
Thank you Katinka 😊 Glad you enjoyed it!
Very interesting, never done that sort of challenge. I also sew in mini capsules, so colours go together. I love print, but fine if I stick to tops and bottoms and cardigans are plain they work much better together. I loved your ascetic of your capsule, I love a waist coat. I am also a keen hat wearer, yours looked great on you
Thanks Jane, glad you enjoyed it ! 😊
That was so interesting Debs. I am so impressed you had one pair of shoes that worked with everything 🤯 Love the dress under the skirt look and definitely one to repeat as the weather gets chillier 👌😍
Thanks Julie, glad you enjoyed it! Yes a new way of layering always welcome 😊
Lovely observations about your experiment. I completely understand how the Marlow felt out of place with the rest of your assortment. I occasionally find myself objecting to something I pull out of my (massive) wardrobe but I don’t bother writing it down. .. you’ve inspired me to do a better job at that. I have notices some mornings I put on an outfit and something catches my attention…usually associated with the word “fussy” which I come to understand is NOT something I aspire to have. I think that some of your videos has helped me work through some OT that, so thank you for taking the time and focus to share what you are noticing. Deep condolences on your friend’s passing, but glad it offered some time to reconnect with friends from your past and what sounded like cherished memories. All the best… Chris in Florida.
Oh thank you Chris. Thank you for watching and glad you ate enjoying my insights 😊
Hi Deb! Great to see you! What you did sew looks great. My sewjo is Meh right now too.❤
Hi Zelda, thanks for visiting! Cut something out last night ....... Hope you are doing well despite the meh!
It was so interesting to hear about your process of getting your sewjo back. The top fix: take it in on the side, take the collar out, and make it shoulder seams deeper like what they would have been on the correct size. then give it 3 rows of pin tucks next to the button band; this should make the neck small enough to cut the right size collar and collar band. If you need, give it a dart on the back of the neck before you put the new collar on.
Ooo pintucks ! Genius, Katinka !! Thanks treasure !😊
Great tips for regaining your sew-jo Debs. I've done the making something tried and true, but sometimes that doesn't work (as you evidently know!) so it's good to have other ideas! I could add another one to your arsenal, I'm going away on holiday soon, but I've unintentionally lost a fair bit of weight and my lighter weight trousers were beginning to look like clown trousers and I needed to learn how to alter them to do a flat seat adjustment. Found something on the University of TH-cam and did the alteration. And it worked! I'm now itching to make ALL the trousers as I know how to fit (and more importantly how much to remove!) for my flat bum. Sadly I can't as I'm knitting a cabled jumper for my daughter's birthday in December and need to get that done. On that note, congratulations on your beautiful fingerless mitts! They look great!
Oh well done on the skills both flat seat and cables !! Thanks Mairead😊
Thanks for the sew-jo tips Debs. Especially like the "be inspired" over "being productive" angle. I had a few fails earlier in the year and as a relative newbie got super disheartened. But thankfully I found making tops has got my interest back. Your shirt looks beautiful and really suits you. It's worth perservering with, you'll work it out.
You are very welcome , lovely. Glad you found your joy in sewing again!!
@@debsmadethis thanks! Hope yours comes back too
Getting there I think, the knitting continues tho 😁😂
Ah Deb is know where your coming from i to have lost sew-jo after a couple of epic fails i just sit at my machine and think i want to use but have no idea what to make and no enthusiasm 😢 maybe we should do a collaboration and break the cycle x
Oh bless you lovely, it'll come back. I keep telling myself fails are part of it! Yes, happy to join forces....don't force it though ! Did you try some free motion ....that's a play type which could help?!!
So annoying I hate it when that happens, it happened to me with one sleeveless dress and I taken it in without opening any stitch, not nice on the inside but amazingly it looks ok !
Glad you made it work!! Well done 😊
Great vlog- really hope your return to sewjo remains as interesting. As for the blouse, could you remove the collar and take some darts from the neckline diagonally into the front pieces then cut a smaller collar to fit? Hope that makes sense as it would be such a shame to waste such precious fabric. 😊 Lynne
Ooo interesting idea Lynne, thank you !
Hi Debs. I'm wondering if you could remove the collar and leave the collar stand only to be like a mandarin shirt? You could add a tiny ruffle at the top of the mandarin collar if you want a more feminine look. It's lovely fabric. Maybe make a few other things so the sewjo is back at 100% before delving into the shirt modification experiment. All the best, Antonia
Thanks Antonia super idea, and yes I'll be gentle with myself a bit longer ! 😉
I would just leave two or three buttons open and wear a nice light beige roll neck underneath.
Style it out ! Great idea 😊
Great items to respark the sewjo. I am sure you can rescue your shirt. I had the same issue with the I am Marty shirt, even when I down sized to a size smaller than I would normally make the collar was a good inch too big round the neck. I think it would have been a bit big even if you made the 44. Agree its worth saving. As you say the sides are easily fixed. Could you take the collar off and shorten by recutting the pointy ends to make the length shorter. Might need to make a seam down the back of the yoke to bring it in. If you need to lose width in the back could you make a seam and the turn the pleat the other way round so the pleat is in the underneath of the pleat and therefore not on show in wear. Good luck with it, beautiful fabric. Don't think it's you, it think their patterns seem very large in the collar circumference, an issue I have never come across with indie patterns before. Good luck with it.
Thank you Jane! Sensible ideas for the Irma too thanks Glad it's not just me....I do have a more giraffe like neck tho! 😁
Really interesting video
Hmm. For the neck can you do something with the placket for starters. It might mean taking the collar off. It’s so annoying and unhelpful when this sort of thing happens with great fabric. I have a couple which I need to address and I think if I do then it might motivate me.
Thanks Jan 😊
Thank you !
Lovely seeing all your me mades. Have you thought about the Bertha cardigan by Tilly and the Buttons p, it’s great to wear with garments that have larger sleeves
Good idea ! Thank you Angela 😊
Make the reina blouse if you haven't sewn #5
I meant #4
Thanks Karon, I need to do a reveal vlog don't I -sorry !
Thanks for the shout out Debs!
No worries! 😊
Loved seeing your me mades. Especially seeing your dresses with the Hanbok vest. I made myself wear mine to my book club last week with dungarees. Pleased to see your subscriber numbers going up as I always thought more people should watch you! I’m not keen on viscose jersey either.
Gotta love a Hanbok!Thank you for your kind comments 😊
The shape of the Ella dress really suits you. I enjoyed your week of me mades, particularly because they are different from what most vloggers make, who tend to make and wear the popular things of the moment. I dislike viscose jerseys too. They tend to stretch down, and cling to all the lumps and bumps that I would prefer to have stay hidden.
Thank you! The Ella is a good shape....I bought some fabric to make another but then decided I didn't have the lifestyle that needs more dresses !!
Viscose lycra need a bit of volume, I used it a lot in mu shop and used to make swing tops with it. It sold so well bit it is a pain to work with! Thanks for joining me on #gettingDressedForAutmn #handmade challenge
Thanks Katinka!
Happy anniversary. Lovely outfits, Nice to see. I know what you mean about viscose Jersey, I never liked it until I found the right patterns for it. My normal tee shirt patterns don't look right. I do however love the pattern emporium besties tee, the swing shape and fairly narrow neck band really looks good in viscose. I also have a burda magazine pattern for a tee with a cowl neckline which also works well. Hope that helps.
That's really helpful. Thanks Jane 😊
Love the me mades and outfit combos. Inspirational. I have sewn with viscose jersey but it is not my favourite to work with as my machine often doesn’t like it when sewing hems - and it is very slippery to cut out!! Hope your sewjo returns soon and makes you happy. 😊 Lynne
Aw thanks Lynne x
Always such a pleasure and inspiration, loved the fashion show! Thank you for sharing!
Aw that's so kind! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Like you, I don't use viscose jersey very often. I think it works for like wrap tops where a bit of drape is good but otherwise I wouldn't use it for a more standard t-shirt. I definitely prefer cotton jersey.
Glad it's not just me!😂
Beautiful pattern placement on the Phen Shirt and Scout top! Well done!!
Aw thank you, Whitney !! Sometimes the prep takes a bit longer but feels worth it! 😇😘
It looks fab and youve got a really good fit with it 🙂
thank you😊
I always love your videos debs. They’re so calming. Your oxbows are fab - I love a pair of jazzy pants! 😊
Ahhh bless you, thanks .This one nearly didnt happen 😂
I love both Scouts! I've recently bought the pattern - I love it when pattern companies do a top and a dress version in the same pattern as you've got an easy project for a wearable toile haven't you. My sewjo got up and went several months ago. I've tried making something new to see if that would get it back, but I have to alter that garment as I don't like it very much as it is 🤦🏻♀️ I have So. Many. Things. needing alterations! 😅I think I'll try another route which someone mentioned and that is to sew a pattern that you've made a couple of times before, using some nice fabric. You're in your comfort zone as you know what you're doing, but you are making something nice for yourself too. I'll let you know if it works!
Thank you! I ve found making something for someine else and doing some other kinds of making (embroidery) has helped. I made a TnT stasia tee last night using stried jersey and maraflex thread and thats helped too 😂 I want to make some matching knickers with the scraps 😁 Watch that placket if you Scout tho.....I think I ve maybe worked out an easier way ......
@@debsmadethis after your experience I'm definitely cautious of the placket. A friend has made one, so I'll be asking her for tips 😆
@@mairead5891 It is fine, just fiddly, and i cant help thinking theres an easier way !
Your Oxbow pants are fab Debs, love the fabric. I'm in the middle of making a Bestie bag but now the weathers turned I want to get the knitting back on the needles 😊
Some yarn has been waving at me, but will have to start at the beginning i think !!! Enjoy your Bestie😊
My favorite has got to be those pants!!! I'm excited to see you play around with styling for the 10x10 challenge. You're brave to include some trickier items. Not sure if I'm going to do that myself with my first attempt. We'll see!
Thanks Theresa, to be fair though I dont go anywhere with a strict dress code anymore so seemed like it would be a good way to challenge myself a bit 😆
