I enjoyed watching your vlog Deb. Your plans sound interesting and I'm looking forward to watching the rest of your vlogs . I'm not taking part in memademay but I am trying to sort my wardrobe out. It was lovely to meet you on the dance floor at The gathering. A very enjoyable evening. I'm back down in Herefordshire now.

I think you nailed goals for yourself and they all seem do-able. I have encouraged myself to edit a bit of my closet…I have adopted Karen Brown’s theme (Just Get it Done Quilts…and I am SO NOT a quilter) in her annual declutter challenge of setting a timer and working on a small area for fifteen minutes. When the timer goes off you can be done…or reset it if that works for you. I certainly get decision fatigue, especially when there are memories attached to an item. I picked up from another TH-camr that precious fabrics can live in another area of the house, like a drawer you open routinely so you get that little seratonin hit when you spy it. I was nodding in total agreement with you about wearing worn out things such a big part of your day…I do that on weekends and have tried to turn that corner so my husband doesn’t always have to see the same things….we deserve to take care of ourselves and wear purposeful clothes that fit our needs/ bodies/ style and comfort levels. I have been letting go of some clothes that suit a colder climate than where we moved to two (2!) years ago…I am in the office for work more days, and there is little air conditioning on the 6th floor, so most of my professional style blouses are in the refashion pile to become short sleeved or sleeveless…time will tell. Best wishes on rewarding yourself for stepping into the challenge. I didn’t make a pledge but am continuing with defining what I want to find in my closet, and honing in on guide words…earlier this week I put on a top that slid around a bit and took it right back off, thinking”this is fussy”… have to dig out my thesaurus to help narrow down my options. As always, it was delightful to see what you wished to share! And I think that old cartoon was Kilroy, from WW2…Kilroy was here. Chris in Florida

Thanks Chris.Oh well done on making a start ,a timer is definitely helpful, thats how i try to tackle bits of the house. If I have a big alteration pile of do one after/before starting a new make. 😊

Love your ideas! The Stokx Eve Dress would look great in the turquoise, cotton sateen!😍I loved the one you made before. I'm not doing MeMadeMay but I'm enjoying watching all the vlogs and getting lots of ideas

This is such an interesting vlog. I was fascinated. So much resonated with me- too many things to list!! I really need to reconsider my approach to what I make and be more “curated”. I am a bit overwhelmed at the moment with lots of fabrics and ideas but also with alterations as I have lost a lot of weight (thank goodness). Alterations can take ages but I don’t want to waste a lot of lovely things I made last year. I thought your flow chart was excellent and may well copy that. Also to note the ideas for fabrics - it may stop me flip flopping around😂. Good Luck with all your plans. Happy Sewing 😊. Lynne

Oh thank you Lynn, so glad it was helpful. There are still 2 more bags of summer stuff for me to sort through! 🤯

Now I'm feeling really inspired to create a pledge for myself. I have a bad habit of cutting things out for "later" so I have a sizable pile just waiting for me! I nearly spit my coffee out when you said the first one was 14 years ago!? That was the last time I participated, it was called Me Made March back then. I have that Nani Iro sateen in green and made a Wiksten shift...It's a dream to wear in hot weather.

😂😂 14 years gone in a flash! Go on see what you can come up with!
I always try and finish a project before starting the next , so batch cutting doesnt really work for me although I sometimes do it for pjs or tee shirts !

Good luck. I need to refashion/resize quite a few things as I’ve mindfully lost 2 stone over the past 6 months to try and shift some mid life weight gain and ease some knee arthritis. . I’ve decided not to resize my t shirts but make some new and just give myself permission to make them night wear or donate them. Looking forward to see what you make/ recycle.

Great plans Debs. I was planning to refashion a few garments during Me Made May, but that got overtaken by the need for some long sleeved t-shirts as the weather has been quite cold! I also have a pile of things to be mended - mostly hand knitted socks that need darning. Not my favourite job!

Oh hope the sun comes out again soon! I'm trying to learn to darn a bit more beautifully. Theres someone called Flora Collingwood Norris who does lovely mends. Her instagram account is visible_creative_mending if you wanted to look. She does have a book that Ive asked for as a birthday present ! 😊

@@debsmadethis oooh, thank you for that tip! I follow a few mending accounts, but everyone does things in a different way to one another, so it's always good to have a different perspective isn't it!
