  • @Drewcifer59
    @Drewcifer59 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I recommend that you preheat the group head and basket together to prevent heat from being wicked out of your espresso by a cold basket. Also, I switch to steam and wait 30 to 40 seconds before steaming. The machi e doesn't store steam. The boiler simply can't sustain the temperature long enough. By starting to steam 5-10 seconds before the steam light illuminates it will continue to heat the boiler the entire time you're steaming the milk. You should see the steam light go on about 10 seconds after you're done. Your timings may vary slightly so do a little experimentation on your own.

I have v2 with push in rubber for legs Price of bottomless with maple handle Aud$150.00 As far as tamping , I have stainless steel support onto which it slides.

    When you reattach the basket to the group head. Make sure the rubber seal is the right way around. The seal has a straight edge on one side and a curved edge on the other. The curved edge should be at the top edge of the basket. If it is the other way around the internal basket will not be sealed correctly in the head.

    Thank you for the tutorial! The video made the installation easy. My shots (18g puck) was pulling 40g out in 10 seconds before the shim. I didn’t realize Baratza recommends installing the shim after using the grinder for a bit. Now my shots are dialed in to 18g in, 40g out in about 28-32 seconds. Really appreciate it!

    A few criticisms.. The comparison boils down entirely to a personal choice, and comparing these two items is in my mind pointless. If you want to convince someone one is better than the other, that's fine, as along as they're willing to reconsider what they want to do every morning. I don't stick to one workflow, so I use both electric and hand grinders on a regular basis, depending on the situation. Sometimes I am too lazy to hand grind, other times I can do without the noise (the encore is the absolute worst sounding grinder out there worth buying). But anyway, I think your point of comparison is not really fair as you are using the baratza as a single dosing grinder, which it isn't. To get the best performance it needs to have a loaded hopper. It would have produced a full dose in half the time of a hand grinder. By single dosing in such a design, most of the beans are airborn and popping around 70% of the time at least. Single dosing grinder solve that problem by deepening the burs so that the beans are feed into a narrow space/channel and stack ontop of each other as they do in a fully loaded hopper, thus preventing them from popping around aimlessly. ps. Yes I have owned these two grinders along many others ranging for sub-$100 to ones costing thousands (ie. my LWW EG-1). Join my Hand Grinder Discussion Group on FB!

    15mins to warm up the water, sure. But if you want a warmed E61 head you'll need to give it another 10-15mins so better think of it as 25min warm up.

      Lelit's own website states 24min for all to reach temp so I would suspect you are right. Warmed, but not quite warmed through fully at 15mins. But then whether it is enough of a diff to be that detrimental to the brew over 15mins is of course another matter....

Enhanced brew temperature stability and more manageable steam make this a no-brainer for me. thanks for taking the time to install and share honest feedback. I'm going to get the "top box" for the PID - not sure if the dimmer for playing with pump speed is worth the hassle of installing, but more lights and dials make me a happy chap - and I'll never be able to afford a La Marzocco 🤣🤣

    TLDR: for espresso - press the steam button, wait 20 seconds, switch it off and brew your cofffee normally (press brew button). for frothing milk - press steam button. wait until red light comes on. switch it off. open the steam valve and let all the steam go out. close the valve. press both steam and brew button and open the valve. let some water out. close the brew button and wait for steam to come out. wait 20 seconds. purge and start steaming the milk.
