I have a 58mm tamper and it always leaves a ring of coffee on the inside of the basket after tamping, so I want to find a slightly bigger one, maybe 58.5-58.6mm, do you get that leftover ring also? I won't taste the difference but at least it makes the shower screen and gasket area cleaner.
i am new to brewing and experimenting with a quality espresso at home. I now got 2 tampers both 58mm and I love them both one is made with steel and wallnut handle - exceptional quality, and 420g weight to it and another is a bit lighter Motta Easy 58 mm - Aluminium 220g. I much preffer the quality and weight of the first one. althou I really like the flatter top handle of the Motta. I never trier 58.5mm althou I was considering. finally I got 58 because 58.4 competition from Motta was more than 2x the price.
Do you start the timer from lever up or 1st drops? Also I noticed, when you tamped with the lelit tamper the puck was pulled up if you watch closely. With a tight tamper like the lelit you should twist a little when you pull out so it doesnt have a suction effect.
I start the timer as soon as I lift the lever, but with these flow profiling shots the extraction time is not that important. You're absolutely right about the Lelit tamper, the fact it's so tight fitting does make a bit of a suction. Luckily, the puck screen seems to do its job perfectly because there was 0 channelling 😁
This doesn't make sense, any sane mind wouldn't expect and difference in taste; a more interesting presentation would be to show us zoomed in how it fit the filter and the gaps etc

4:40 watch at x0,25 you sucked up the puck....
You're right mate, luckily the puck screen does it job 😂
@@tmb-themajesticbeanchannel1746 and E61 mercy helps too)
@@tastedcutlet that as well, although on my Mara the e61 preinfusion is disabled atm, because of the flow profiler

Yeah, definitely the Lelit tamper. Weight and felling when tamping lower doses as you said.
100% mate 😁

this could be interesting, but i feel blind if i don't see the shoot from below the naked portafilter. like most of your video
I understand, although if there was something wrong it can also be noticed when watching from the side :)
Why didn’t you use the electric grinder rather than the hand grinder ?
No particular reason, sometimes I use the Jmax for espresso just because it can do the job 😂
