We reach the end. A couple of rules goofs: - I noticed while editing that Ulfric has a DMG bonus. He never received this while I was rolling damage from his attacks. - I found the book stat blocks and weapon cards to be contradicting. I struggled to figure out how to truly calculate hit modifiers on Ulfric based on the enemy description, BFO and Slow so some of this math is probably wrong. Conn...

Great series.. you should do a video on what is your favorite character. Favorite class, favorite race, favorite talent and perks. What rules you forget doing. What rules you don’t use like maybe encumbrance. What race or class would you like to try next. Are you excited for the new content ? I’ve never played but looking forward to the Druid and the knight. Your Thought on alchemist and the book keeping involved. Basically… I just want more information while I’m waiting for the game to show up.
Thank you for watching! I’m hoping to do a few editorial like videos on this game since I have put so much time into it. I appreciate the suggestion!
Thanks for the video. Looking forward to you playing thru 2nd edition. Cheers
Thanks for watching!
Great video as always! Thanks for keeping them coming! ❤
Glad you like them! I’m hoping to! I might wait until the 2nd edition stuff arrives to continue.
Great playthrough, I have thoroughly enjoyed your adventures, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great series! If helps - P111 of rules shows to attack through doors can only be in one of the two squares either side of the door
(For close combat I mean :) )
Thanks!! I figured I missed it somewhere.
It always fun to watch you play. I'm waiting for the 2nd edition update to start my game.
Appreciate you sticking with me!
Can’t wait for the second edition! I learned to play this game thanks to your videos
Glad to hear it! Me too!
Why was Monte released all creatures are part of the same encounter.
It’s been a minute but I treated the Shambler as the fight for that encounter since I didn’t open the door. It may have been in error but in my mind they were separate encounters.
Somethiung tells me rats werenot supposed to be on the list, after all the encounter did state a team of men. now that might have be ratmen.
Strange to have them on that table for sure! Ratmen are coming in the expansion. Youre right they would have made more sense.
You should do a small video on stuff like easy rules to forget, your thought on controlling 4 characters instead of using mercenaries. Your favorite hero, class, race. A small review of your thoughts on the game after this many missions. Did you get kickstarted any of the add-on from the latest kickstarter? You did a great job painting your miniatures are you planning on painting the Doors ?
That’s a great idea! I did back the new stuff and I’m eagerly awaiting it. Thank you! I may get to that eventually.
Glad you are still playing and doing videos on this game. I’m still waiting on my 2nd edition kickstarter to show up. Learning how to play by watching your awesome videos.
Thanks for watching!!
Excited for a deep playthrough on this! I backed the reprint, missed the original campaign. A lot of videos out there don’t go very far into the game; I just saw you are not like that after finding your excellent character creation video. Wanted to jump to your latest and just tell you to please keep up the great work, very much enjoyed and appreciated!
Welcome aboard! Thanks from watching. I’ve got the new stuff coming as well. Hope to keep making vids when I can! I’ve got the finale of this quest to edit still.
Thanks so Much for your Videos, Awesome job, congrats !!!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks and keep them coming. I think a problem with this game is combat drags on for too long and to be more entertaining, perhaps the heroes need to be more lethal
After a significant amount of time spent with this game, I tend to agree. I find myself hoping I don’t roll an encounter in most rooms and when that’s the main point of the game that’s disappointing. I’ve said before that I wish dungeons were half as long but I guess it’s called a dungeon crawler for a reason!
May I suggest you place your comments/notes on the top of the screen? They currently overlap with the subtitles which makes them hard to read. Great job though!
Thanks for the note. I hadn’t thought of that.

Whoops!
Must have hit delete on my note on accident.
Currently going through your series while I wait for my game to arrive. Thanks for these playthroughs, they are great!
Glad you like them!
Thanks for keeping the videos coming, exciting as getting closer to next print run arriving! Random question, curious what scale are your hero minis, 28mm or 35mm?
I believe they are 28. They are from FFG’s Lord of the Rings game.
Lovely stuff man! Nice seeing this playthrough
Thanks for the visit
Will definitely print out those flow charts. Will reduce the brain burn al lot
That’s a great idea!
286 pages?!
Yeah. Nuts!
Well, the first Quest Book is among those 286 pages too, but still... Way too much for a board game.
True true. I think this game is a little more RPG than board game so with that in mind you can almost justify it but it’s still A LOT.
I guess I had better set aside any other reading time for the next few months and reserve it all for this.
I went back to the PDF to see what is taking up so much space... 40 pages of character & party creation, 20 pages on magic rules, 40 pages on dungeoneering and combat (one would argue is the 'meat' of this game). Everything else is not essential to start. So yeah, you need to read a good 100 pages to start.
hmm.. all this time i thought i HAD the second printing because i just picked up the game (from their website) a couple of months ago. it looks better im wondering if i can buy a copy off their site.
I think that’s kind of right. Dungeoneers was the original print and play version and the first iteration of this game. LoD was the first game with a new name and an expanded version of Dungeoneers. So yes and no!
@@saveyourgame5578 :) also, pose a question if i may: i noticed that in game its way too easy to get behind someone. if you go face-to-face the person with initiative just sidesteps one square, 45 left, 45 right, turn and enjoy your +20 attack. i try to play the bad guys as if i were controlling them instead of the script so my battles in long rooms end up looking like a ballroom dance as the fighters twirl their way across the board. i really like the way that the game acknowledges actual cqb by basing cs on dex and not str so in that spirit i made a house rule that things with two legs pay 3ap to move through enemy zoc instead of two. if youve ever tried chasing a dog or cat you know why: they CAN get behind you but i cant mange the same. thoughts?
Yeah, that seems to be the best way to mitigate being overwhelmed for sure. Although with a game that can wipe you out so quickly, I almost don’t mind having a little bit of a loophole. Question though: how would you use three AP? Just use a couple turns of action points?
i mispoke. mistyped. i meant to say that instead of 2movement points to traverse an enemy zoc i raised it to 3. that way you cant 45-45 spin and stabby stab.
Gotcha!
I've been reading the PDF since I got the e-mail of the new rulebook. Have nto gone through all, but getting there. Can't wait to get my copy of the came!
It’s a lot to take in!
I love the components of the game, but the rules are too fiddly for me. I will tone it down to HeroQuest level of complexity (4 stats, d6 dice). The dungeon generation part is great though.
I have been tempted to do the same. Especially with how many errors I’ve noticed I’ve made while editing. Agreed! I love parts of it but it does wear me out to play after a while. 😂
Running t with the Basic Moldvay dungeon system works well. 0e D&D is very streamlined here too I've done it with chainmail and that worked well.
I have not played yet (other than designing my character) because I was waiting for the upgrade. I so glad that this is almost done.
So close!
Do you know if there is an FAQ anywhere?
There are errata on BGG. As well as a ton of other supplemental files.
@@saveyourgame5578 looking for the 2e specific changes. Thank you though.
Gotcha. Haven’t seen anything like that yet.
If you are on Facebook, there is a League of Dungeoneers group. A few people in it have begun to make documents of the updates in second edition. I’ve seen a few post like that in the last few weeks.
Soon we will have the new and updated bestiary pdf
Can’t wait! The new dragons sound intense!
Really impressed by the quality of your videos
I appreciate that! Thanks for watching.
High quality lets play thank you. Any chance you could do a Dungeon Universalis series?
Thank you! I don’t have that game, unfortunately. And I probably only have time for one big DC at the moment. Appreciate the request though! Will look into it.
After dealing with both my vehicles being stolen last night and dealing with police reports, insurance claims, pictures of the recovered but damaged vehicles…I ate a steak, sat down to unwind, and what do I see? Continued adventures of Monty and the Pythons! Thank you for posting today!!
I’m so sorry to hear that you are going through all that trouble. That is just awful. Glad I got to give you a little escapism today! Thanks for watching.
Where are you from, im guessing Toronto?
Nope. Im in North Carolina. Born and raised. ☺️
So glad I've found this channel! Tha k you dude for giving this game some seriously good screen time. Going back watch from the start 😊
Welcome aboard! It’s been a lot of work but very rewarding. I’m about to get the game out again and play some more. I love it. Can’t wait for the expansion to arrive!
Great play!
im really enjoying these. i just played my first game, having painted everything in sight and prepped a suitable table. i was playing the introductory scenario along with your same video on the same subject. despite having studied as much as i thought i could i still had questions, and twice your video just happened to pipe in with exactly the thing i was wondering about. i.e: how does being wounded work? etc. etc. good times! edit: it seems shockingly easy to get behind folks for that juicy bonus. im going to change the way the bad guys play to account for that.
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching. It is a nice and fairly easy way to get a hit bonus.
Just coming to the channel and this game. Cheers! This game reminds me of Dungeon Universalis in that it tries to micromanage too much. For example with the Wizard, you had to do a basic hit, then an arcane hit, just to land a spell. With this being the intro tutorial fight, it just screams boredom and repetitive failed attacks. I would have to house rule a “steady yourself” mechanic that for every 2 misses, you or the enemy gains +5 stackable CS on your next attack action this encounter. If that’s a miss, net +5 additional until a hit occurs. Perhaps later vids show the battle system is balanced, but it’s a really tough slog it seems early on.
Thanks for watching! It is pretty fiddly and makes for some frustrating encounters. Due to this my wish is that dungeons were half the length. Overall though I like the system especially when it’s going my way. I like the idea of a steel yourself type of mechanic! Good work.
Thank you for providing tonight's dinner's entertainment.
Happy to do it!
Is that a thunder at the end ? Bad omen for the party for sure
Yes! It certainly was.
Correction 0:55. Designed by Corey Konieczka. Who is Christian Peterson?
That’s correct. He was the head of FFG for a long time and co-designed a lot of their games. I must have seen his name when making the video and wrongly attributed him to the design of this edition.
Christian designed Battlemist and some ideas in Runewars were based on that game. Maybe that’s where I got this from? Thanks for pointing out the error.
What miniatures are you using for your heroes (particularly interested in the dwarf)? Thanks for posting. Cheers
These are from Journeys in Middle Earth from FFG. The whole party is from the core box. The dwarf is a Gimli model. Thanks for watching!
8:00 was that a 9 not a 6
Right you are!
Short but profitable session. Also, I'm thinking the rules are too detailed. I will be changing some. Like the wizard can lays hands on himself and the archer uses the INTWISCHA’S AMMO method of tracing ammo. (The PC has an “ammo die” of a size determined by the amount of ammunition they’re carrying. They roll this die with each attack roll and if it comes up 1, their die type decreases by one size. If they purchase ammunition or find a stash of it during the adventure, they can increase the die size instead.)
These are great ideas!
I also really like the idea of rolling a dice to recover some arrows at the end of an encounter as well.
@@saveyourgame5578 Not my ideas, I just look for the best rules to handle the mechanics of a game, trying to balance realism and fun.
@@saveyourgame55781e AD&D has a 25% chance of recovery for magic arrows. I use that for LoD arrow recovery.
I remember the tv commercial!!!
Have thid game its great
Gandlaf standing on a "late" card suggesting, that wizard is never late is genius!
I'm about to watch all of your LoD videos. I don't know yet if you'll notice this in the next videos, but the special rule "large" also means that the monster uses the large base (4 squares). ;)
I do notice it eventually!
I've made previous comments about those dice trays you're using. They should be called "miss" trays. Ditch 'em!!!
I’m tempted to!
TY!
Makes me more excited for new edition I backed!! Great playthrough.
Same here! Thanks!
Monty is such a great bumbling Wizard name.
😂 Isn’t it? It popped into my head and I knew it was the one.
Bandits walk in and see the party killing their doggos. And you're wondering why they fought hard? Are you sure you're "the good guys"? 😁
Oh, and: Awesome session, lots of close calls, very exciting!
It sure was! One of the closest yet!
Right? And how do we know the merchants they’ve been attacking were honorable? What if I’ve been taking out Robin Hood and his merry men?
@@saveyourgame5578: That is the only flaw this games has: No way to talk your way out of a encounter. The party inevitably becomes murder-hobos. This is the problem with most GM-less games. Which is fine, my group of friend are "Kill them all, let God sort them out" types too.
That is true. Although the combat system is so deep that you almost don’t mind. You’re right, though, with the traveling, buying, selling, events, exploring, etc there’s almost every core aspect of an RPG except for that. I hadn’t thought about that before. I’ve played a little bit of Pericle. It’s driven by an application on their website, has a fairly deep combat system and does have some dialogue options. It’s pretty cool. I hope to do a video on it someday.
Excellent!
