  • We reach the end.
    A couple of rules goofs:
    - I noticed while editing that Ulfric has a DMG bonus. He never received this while I was rolling damage from his attacks.
    - I found the book stat blocks and weapon cards to be contradicting. I struggled to figure out how to truly calculate hit modifiers on Ulfric based on the enemy description, BFO and Slow so some of this math is probably wrong.

With regard to the Shambler's movement, take the door off of the grated room and put half of the monster in the small corridor and the other half stays in the grated hallway. He's basicly be in the doorway.

That’s a good idea! I didn’t even think to do that.

Uff, what a quest! Lots of fighting! Regarding BFO and Slow: They are accounted for differently for enemies and heroes since enemies don't do a parry or dodge roll. These effects are already included in the "to hit" roll modifiers. So, I would just go with whatever it says on the weapon card for the enemy when you attack one or the table on page 99, alternatively. When you get attacked, apply the effects from the weapon specials described on page 163. Another thing to pay attention to (I don't know whether you did or not): Each named enemy gets an extra initiative token as long as it is alive, p. 92. Also, even though I think you faced that situation in the last video, when you apply damage of a trap, only NA can prevent that damage (it's described in the Gameplay Example on page 20).

Ah thanks! It’s helpful to have these clarifications. I had missed that about the extra token.
Also I remember that about NA and traps now!

Next time you stock up on arrows, make sure they're not bent and maybe the archer won't miss as much!
Fun adventure; very exciting. Shall watch the next quest.

The bandages treasure (T2) was what you found on Ulfric. You did not search the sarcophagi, which are very good for treasure but beware of zombie/skeleton that may appear and also collect the quest reward of 150c per character. Ulfric's warhammer and the 3 bronze swords (one sticking out of Ulfric and the other two wielded by the skeletons) may be more treasure to sell.
You seemed to take a major risk with Bombur and he paid the price (not sure how many HP he lost, which he can ill afford to lose).
Personally I would have delayed the appearance of the fugitive (Manhunt) as I cannot see him surviving in the Great Crypt. There were still two unexplored doors and he should have been behind the first one entered.

Makes sense! I had a rough go of it earlier after rolling a zombie in a coffin and I was really looking forward to finishing this bought so I didn’t risk it. I’ve wondered about taking the enemies weapons. Saw a few people mention doing this.
You’re probably right. I found it really fitting that he was there at the last encounter though. I was happy to find him. As I mentioned my head cannon was that he had just stumbled into that room and we were close behind!

Looks like you’re enjoying LofD as a solo crawler. Have you tried it with a group at all? The game looks like things could get pretty bogged down in group play. Thanks for the enjoyable vid!

It’s been a lot to juggle, but I have really enjoyed it. And no I haven’t played with a group. My guess is it might slow it down especially as people learn their characters. It’s lengthy game even solo. Thanks for the comment!

@@saveyourgame5578 I should fess up to actually having a copy of first edition; it’s been sitting in my closet unopened for a few months now. Unopened, because I also own Dungeon Universalis. I played a few sessions solo, and found the game manageable but also LOTS of fun! And then I ran it for my group…..The first night was extremely frustrating for all of us. The concepts were hard for one of the guys to grok, while admittedly, it was an exhausting one for me to teach. By the third session, things were flowing better, but I was finding settling the game up just too much. I don’t think I will ever play DUN with a group ever again unless I come across some amazing player adds. It sounds like my copy of League of Dungeoneers will stay in the solo pile :(

Would like to get this game but do all of the battles end up at doorways? I get that there is a push mechanic to help mitigate that, but how effective is that? I would think having a melee on either side of a doorway would be very difficult to do with swords, axes and hammers. Thoughts?

    • @saveyourgame5578
      @saveyourgame5578  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Seems to be the case in these early scenarios, but I’ve only played a couple. There are a lot more bigger tiles in the box and I assume the battles get more widespread as the game goes on.

It’s actually a full size IKEA dining table. Needed for the number of components here! If you want to keep them all out at once that is.
