I like that they are making it all free for students and educators, and I don’t mind if they offer subscription alongside the perpetual so long as its reasonable. Like if its 10$ a month, that is still wayyy lower than Adobe’s 80$+/month. If a small subscription for bonus features allows them to continue development and keep the lights on so we can use the perpetual license of the whole core suite then I’m alright with that. I understand they can’t do that for free. But I hope they don’t have it be stripped down and then offer features for 30$+

What if I buy the affinity suite now and in a future they add subscriptions.. Will I maintain the suite permanently? Will I have to pay only if I want to upgrade a version in the future?

Regarding Adobe overreach. Can we demand to …cease Ai? Or else be… laid off by Ai, then human extinction? Or suffer an… Ai new world order? With swell robotics everywhere, …Ai jobloss is the top worry. Anyone else feel the same?

I used to do my printing with Adobe.. As I have a Canon Pro-graf printer I found I get better results with "Professional Print and Layout" by Canon You may want to look at Topaz IA to remove noise and increase photo clarity/ I moved away as soon as Adobe started subscription based....

Capture One, Affinity, and DaVinci Resolve is a far better professional photographic editing solution to that dictatorial Adobe software that is very poorly designed. Adobe software architecture is shocking!

I want to leave Adobe too but still cannot find a good set of apps that would fit in my ideal workflow. Briefly, I want to just have my iPad with me on a location and start there, but then pick it up on my Mac.

I left Adobe for Corel and now Corel is doing what Adobe does. So I started looking into Affinity, I almost jumped until I saw this video. The one positive to Canva buying Affinity is if they put some of there tools into Affinity it will only make the program better. So I would say you can guarantee it will become subscription based. The terrible part is that the buy cost is always raised to a point that for most its not feasible to keep buying each year or every two years for what inevitably becomes water down content. Its so disheartening that this, you will pay for something and never own it model is now just global mainstream corporate garbage.

I am so sick of all this bullshit surrounding software. I actually wish I never ever went anwhere near this f**king industry, it is nothing but toxic, everyone thinks you are some sort of F**king cash cow, everyone tries to milk you. Artists of all people I swear do not make huge some of money and yet every single f**king step of the way they are trying to skin you. Piss off and leave us alone, we do not shit money.

I too would prefer a perpetual license, with 1 year of updates and bug fixes, with OPTIONAL updates and upgrades beyond that. Some people prefer their old software as is without any updates. know some still using CS6! I found that MAGIX makes good video, audio and photo processing software.

Great video. I hope you make more content on how to make thumbnails in Affinity. I just got the suite and there’s not a lot of great tutorials on TH-cam about it.

Just some reminiscing. Anyone else remember using Cool Edit Pro, and Macromedia Flash and Dreamweaver? I guess it's a natural progress anywhere. Whether it's society, festivals and events, cars! Cool new idea's start from the ground, bigger companies swallow and it feels like things get too big and corrupted.

Try paying $4500 for the Production Suite (PPRO, AE, AI, PS) perpetual license (while most I knew including Studios, were using crack software) and then Adobe brings in the subscription model ( to stop people using crack software) and we legit users whom actually paid THOUSANDS$$$$$ PER YEAR received ZERO compensation to move to a subscription!!!! IF you can't afford / justify a subscription price like Adobe's for the amount of software you have access to, you either don't have a viable business, or you're being cheap and completely unreasonable.

Canva have made all of the right noises, but I can't help thinking that the car crash that has become Adobe over the last month will put Canva off making any dramatic changes to the Afinity business model. Affinity are probably the main beneficiaries for photo and graphics professionals moving away from the Adobe rights grab, so they'd be silly to try to emulate them

Hi, I have a suggestion for you alternatives. On the audio side you can add Pro Tools Intro since it's free. Can't add video but would help a lot for doing most of the audio related work 🤘🏼

Ive been using Davinci well over a year and still love it! But as mainly a Photographer i find it more difficult to commit to buying a software, What would you say in terms of precise color/Lighting manipulation is the most simulair to the performance of light room? I photograph mainly (but am not limited to) landscapes and wildlife.

Iam about to start a business in graphics.. editing and 3D...I have had an adobe subscription for years... what do I do? I do not really use the cloud at all, and I dont use that particular select feature yet, my work is mine.. so.. what advice does anyone have, I have Krita, Davinci, inkscape and blender... I need to be able to work and do commercials and social media ads.. so this is going to hurt.. I have till the end of this month to cut the cord... Since this is all new to me, the photoshop files I have will be lost for the most part.or converted. please help!!! I just invested heavily in starting this business.. Digital painting is a must for me

There's in fact an analternative to After Effetcs, which is Left Angle Autograph. It's not cheap, though.

Well, if worse comes to worse, then I can at least download a copy of the latest release of AFFINITY and use that to reinstall on a new computer in the future...hopefully. Just hearing about this merger (takeover) is a bite in the ass. Hopefully they still give us updates with our current licenses they did in the past.

Its such a shame that Affinity have now sold out to Canva. And eventually this will become as a Subscription part of Canva.

I dropped Adobe a couple of years ago. I'm now using DaVinci Resolve and it leaves Premiere in the dust. Resolve's color tools are hands down the best in the industry and keep getting better. At the time I was paying $57 per month to Adobe for a bunch of software I'll never use. I was only using Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop. The rest were largely useless to me but I had to pay for them anyway. Like you, I miss After Effects. Fusion in Resolve is powerful but that node based approach has a steep learning curve...and I'm still trying get my head around it. I replaced Photoshop with Pixelmator Pro and Affinity Photo and they work well and have Apple's Motion as well. Adobe needs to offer smaller less expensive packages like a package for video editors - Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop. Maybe another for design. Another for web, ect. Or like $10 per month for After Effects, not $23 (no way!). They're pricing themselves out of business and need to loose the 'we're the best and screw you' attitude.

For me (and I'm Mac only) Apple Motion does everything in regards to compositing and motion graphics that I would've done in AE in the past, but it does it in half the time and at 1/10 of the price of AE.

Davinci resolve is capable to do great color corrections. Cmon, you can do better than this

I've been using my daughter's student Adobe for free. But today, Adobe forced a shutdown, and when I re-opened it again, it asked (my daughter) to sign up for a 7-day "free" trial. After that, it's full price !? I think Adobe is a goner. Crazy greedy now they're charging high school students? No more free for kids (and kids' dad)? Crazy It's all over for Adobe...however, i still have a cracked 2020 version. lol, I can still use it. In fact, I saved that non-cloud version in a separate PC because I knew Adobe are scummy and would eventually hack into my PC and steal all my crypto It's time to quit Adobe, folks. They're becoming an evil corporation

First, nice video and thank you! I never went the subscription model route. I saw all this nonsense with pricing and tying the end user into, Adobe and other software, proprietary functionality, and legal agreements. I just want to be creative and avoid what is really, legal noise.
