It might depend on the damping rate of the shocks, these ones feel really good - you can easily tell when they’re not working properly! What car do you have?

@@Auto_Funk it’s like they don’t get it at all to them it’s working and fine or it’s broken! I was working on my Porsche 987 at the weekend and had all the comments.. the other one is will you wash mine after when cleaning your car.. keep up the good videos!

Ha! Love a 987! Chris has one and I used to own one which I went to France in which was mega 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 the best one from the neighbour is “you can wash mine afterwards”!! (Chap with the Hilux who incidentally has never, ever washed it!!)

Cheers for the info re the shocks... It would be interesting to know the difference in cost for rebuild vs new! I (Llew) can just about remember the wall coming down, I was probably 8 or 9 years old so not aware of the significance at the time!

@@Auto_Funk I just checked: 485€ per shock front (part number 20-070274) and 210€ per rear shock (part number 20-070281)

@hendrikwagner5957 interesting! Rebuild here in the UK by Bilstein is €160 per shock so quite a saving!

@@Auto_Funk I was 14 years old as the wall came down, grew up behind the iron curtain, right at the wall to Berlin (about 150m away.

Surprisingly to us, C4/5 corvettes onwards are nearly entirely metric. Besides a few small oddities (the side battery post being 5/16ths or something).

I bet they do! The adjustable mode seems to work in the car too. Soft is really very different to performance mode. "Do you want a race car or a waterbed today sir!?"

$500 for an E-Type! Not an easy car to restore though at all! The salt gets them a bit over here. Its one big love we have of this generation of Corvettes. Rust is generally not an issue!

@@Auto_Funk Time frame is early 1970's - plus no salt here in Houston.

Its like a mix of the two... its a Street Cup... its a like a cafe racer'd from the factory Bonneville. Its not mega fast, but its fast enough for me to bimble around on. The left shoulder was done when I was putting the sub frame back on the Boxster last year, I must release that on my channel as I did film it. I don't know exactly how I did it but the night after I was in Agony. I think it was probably yanking the frame into alignment as it was a struggle to get the frame far enough forward... or over reaching under the car. Over a year later it is still not right, can't lift my arm up above my head. Probably slightly torn a tendon. The right shoulder is more recent and bike related, I did it coming off a trials bike going up a slope, I "super-manned" it which was hilarious I am told! That did my right shoulder and didn't do my already damaged shoulder much good either... (Sticking to on road bikes from now on)! So I just need to be careful with them now.

Ah we didn't have that to hand, we did soak them in brake cleaner, didn't seem to touch it. The whole underside is covered in that fine sandy stuff that farmers make tracks out of and it turns almost to concrete.

@@Auto_Funk The road soil may have mortar like binders in it. Like concrete.

We're very envious of the weather in Texas... :D! The C4 seems to have not suffered with the rust much. Well built cars (better than they're given credit for)! That is a LOT of Corvettes in one place! Seems there is quite a big mod scene over there too! Over here they are largely standard.

Because it's just two guys filming their hobby and they don't have unlimited funds If the shocks work then that's £450 Llew can put towards the bill for repainting the red Corvette

The burgundy C5 comes out a different budget because Llew owns that C5 outright. We share the ownership of the ZR-1 but yeah it is £450 that we can save towards something else! Tyres, wheel refurbishment, ice blasting, somewhere to store the car out the rain etc... the list is long... :D!

@@Auto_Funk sounds like a good plan. I still think it would be interesting to hear a little more about quality of ride on old shocks vs refurbished. That said for just cruising if there is still rebound and compression I’m sure they are fine. I missed if the adjustment works or not from inside the cabin?

We noticed that too, they don't seem to use all the disc surface. They are correct though supposedly and they are effective!

We we're laughing thinking... we literally just took them off for no reason! But at least we verified that they are okay for now! (If not perfect at least, okay!) Just goes to show there really is nothing on telly anymore and TH-cam is where its at! We watch loads of it!

I (Chris) would have loved to that night... but it was dark I was on my bike. Sadly of an evening this time of year we have only a couple of hours of daylight, we've found a solution to that however!

Yep, a few cars do this...once power is interrupted in some ways...perhaps the extra stored electricity is sent to another electronic part, like some kind off bleed. My Renault scenic, the wiper motor clicks when ever any power is interrupted. And definitely the Corvette is way too advanced engineering and solidity built, from what I have learned from this series.

It's actually when you re-apply power to the car that this happens. The headlight motor tries to find the stop position when the battery is reconnected. Disconnecting the battery cannot be done properly (like purely ON / OFF), when you unscrew the contact, it will apply and remove battery voltage system many times in a second or so, leading you to think that this happened when you removed power, until you fully remove the contact lead. If the headlight motor rotates for quite a lot of time when reconnecting the battery (>4s), this means that the plastic bushings are almost dead and reduced to plastic powder. I had the same issue on mine and I found some white/beige powder in the engine compartment below the headlight (the motor gasket was also cooked). Get a fresh kit on Zip Corvette for exemple (HDL-418). You do not need to replace the gear usually, only the plastic bushing (and gasket if yours is done). I advised you to look at Mirrock Corvette video for a better understanding of the problem ( C4 Corvette Headlight Motor Repair, No rebuild kit required 1988-1996) : th-cam.com/video/RBCrYvslp_o/w-d-xo.html That's in any cases, an easy fix compared to the LT5 work :D

The construction of the Corvette is kind of different to most cars. The whole sill is a box section and quite solid! Its more like the chassis rail is on the outside edge of the car.

If you want to keep your disc bells in good condition, give them a dusting of paint now and then! The exhaust note is quite grown up for that car really!

We would love to road test but can't until October when it's "taxed" (legal requirement in the UK!).... We'd love a corsa exhaust for the ZR-1 but that will be one of the last jobs as a "treat" once everything else is done! You ought to take your wheels off the C6 and repaint the disc centres (we call them bells over here), that would really freshen them up!

I feel for you doing that right side oxygen sensor. I did mine. That plug is a pain. I have the DRM chip in mine and the Corsa exhaust. Sounds beautiful when it's actually working and running properly.

Could also be from automatic choke

Since the new Lambdas have gone in it seems to be responding to throttle a lot better. We think it could have been fuelling badly, they probably got damaged when the car was running poorly with the bad computer. Its guess work really, we're just happy it is running well!

Thanks! No auto choke on these... We did check all the vac lines using a mityvac and all seems good... We think a test drive for recalibration now it has a new chip and o2 sensors might sort things out - We shall find out soon!

@@Auto_Funk of course it will have a choke it's a petrol engine but as it's injected probably called fuel enrichment mode/system which will do a similar thing
