      Hello, yes absolutely. I completed level 3 CIPD level which I paid for myself and simply looked for HR jobs. I would encourage you to consider HR apprentice route, you get paid further CIPD qualifications, work and earn money. They didn't have these when I started working sadly. UK based only as not sure where you live.

    Hey Sanja, nice that I found you! I'm really interesting in working as an HRBP after my Master and your video helps a lot to get an overview about this role. I hope I can make the step into this position cause they told me it's hard to get inside of this directly after school. Do you have any tips for me? Greetings from Germany :)

      @SanjaWilliams หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Karoline, first of all congratulations on doing your master's degree. I assume it is in HR. If not, what have you chosen to focus on? In order to work in HR, there is no essential and formal requirements, although people do complete courses, often study for a degree in HR etc which does help and looks good on your CV. Do you have graduate schemes in Germany as they are a great way into this field. Graduate schemes are very popular in the UK. What did you study as your undergraduate degree?

    I noticed hot and cold behaviors with an ex. He ended up suggesting we stop seeing each-other before I could . He’s since been watching me on social media. I still very much feel the hot and cold dynamic which I dislike. How do I set a boundary?

    • @SanjaWilliams
      @SanjaWilliams หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Kelly, this is an interesting question. All of my videos are about a workplace context and situations. Your question is outside my expertise, however, if you don't like what has been happening and you want to move on, consider confirming this so there is no ambiguity. If it still persists, then consider blocking the person in question. If you cannot define what you want, then consider exploring emotions and how the situation and person makes you feel. I find emotions are the best teachers. I suggest you explore Dr Susan David's comet about emotional agility - www.susandavid.com there is a book and online quiz if you wish to learn more about it and yourself.

    • @SanjaWilliams
      @SanjaWilliams หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Tanya, CHRO - as in chief Human Resources officers - are usually senior roles. If you don't have any prior HR experience, this role is going to be a challenge to get. You mention you work in compliance, what kind of compliance are we talking about here? I am keen you consider transferable skills first. Where do you work out of interest?

    • @tanya7550

      @@SanjaWilliams ok so what is the best i can do in order to move forward Because at the moment i am also handling a team and next my position would be team leader ( i am only scared because the organization i work for has a very linear position growth after team leader its AOM and then several others in which people are already there and once i get to team leader it's very hard to move forward)has handling a team of 4 people under me for compliance itself So when you work in NHS Trust you need to go through the standard framework i.e their DBS OH AND several others i look after those What do you suggest what is the best i can do In HR GIVEN THIS SCENARIO

    • @SanjaWilliams
      @SanjaWilliams หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tanya7550 Ok all noted. As you mention you work in NHS, have you considered asking their HR teams about best options to transfer. I am sure they offer apprenticeship scheme and graduate schemes in HR. Salaries can be lower but if you do want to transition explore it internally first. This is what I would do. Salaries do go up so it wouldn’t be forever on a lower salary if you can afford it. I often find people want to make external moves without exploring internal moves first. You as an internal employee would have better chances than external ones. So as your first step, contact someone in HR to explain the routes etc sometimes you could transition and transfer as a normal role as maybe there is HR compliance team for example or operations etc and work your way around without apprenticeship and grad schemes.

    I have recently taken over this role. Just landed up on your channel and finding it useful, thanks. QQ- As a HRBP we get a lot of unscheduled calls in between, how do you manage your focus and also how do you prioritize and accomplish deliverables / tasks for the day?

    • @SanjaWilliams
      @SanjaWilliams 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, random calls to you from managers or employees will depend on which HR operating model you work in. So if you have shared services, HR operations in place who deal with initial queries, then those calls need to go them to respond to or emails to respond to. In large organisations, managers and employees need to raise a ticket in the system. If there is no such thing in place where you are, then you need to re-contract with your allocated business areas as to what they need to contact you for. Try to do some analysis as to what they contact you about it and produce FAQs docs or links or information you can provide. Also, try to schedule an hour of each day to review and respond to emails or missed calls. You dont have to answer it as soon as they call you. If you have teams, perhaps they can drop messages there and you can respond when you have allocated the slot each day to do this. This work is viewed as reactive and I can see why you wouldn't want to do it. How big is the HR function you work in? Large organisations are great at this, small to medium you can expect all sorts of things to do you would never do in a large organisation that is set up properly.

    • @SanjaWilliams
      @SanjaWilliams 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They need to raise this with their manager and/or their HR Business Partner/HR manager to represent further and ensure it is on a relevant succession plan. If is there a talent/career profile section in your HR, then it needs to be stated there too. Do you do regular succession plan reviews at your work place?

If you want and have time and money, then yes go for a master's in HR. Even psychology is a good combination. If you are in the UK you can complete CIPD courses and you have similar ones in the USA/Australia etc that are more HR specific. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more queries. Good luck.

    Would you please clarify what do you mean (if family in place) is it the available replacment from family members as an example ? Thanks, so much

    • @SanjaWilliams

      This is a great question. In terms of family members to inherit and run a business, you are a limited here in terms of options as it will go to a family member regardless, however, the same principles should apply if it is not clear to whom it should go. Assess if they have the right skills and behaviours required to run a business if not assist with training or simply find other people who they can rely on for their gaps. Is this something you are dealing with at the moment?

    This role is an artificial ideological construct invented by David Ulrich a few years ago. This is one of the typical successfully promoted pseudo-useful consulting tricks. The key question is what exactly this so-called HR business partner is ACCOUNTABLE for and what decisions he/she has the right to make. The problem is that when they try to explain the role of HR in the organization, and in particular, the role of the so-called HR business partners, they forget to emphasize 2 things: 1) that it is managers, and not HR, who are accountable for the staff subordinate to them, that is, it is a manager (not HR) who is accountable for a) the working behavior and work results of their subordinates, b) the teamwork of subordinates, and c) the enthusiasm/engagement of subordinates. 2) any (not only HR) employee of an organization is, BY DEFINITION, obliged to partner with all stakeholders in the organization. Therefore, guys, PLEASE stop mindlessly repeating, like parrots, mantras about the HR in general and the HR business partners in particular. Turn on your heads and finally understand that you should not stupidly list the functions of these artificially created roles. Try to realize one single simple thing: EVERY HR specialist must be able to partner with all stakeholders in the organization. There should be not specially created "partner" roles in HR or finance, or logistics, or marketing, or in the legal department. If the employees of the organization do not know how or do not want to interact effectively, then no dedicated HR employee (whatever he/she is called) will solve this problem. Management and only management should be held accountable for this. And about HR, it's enough to simply say that 3 things are expected from ANY specialist in this field: professionalism in his/her function, business understanding and leadership (as from any other specialist in any other function in the organization).

      Hi Evelyn, yes. Is this an HR consultant role for a consultancy that provides people advisory services or in house for one company only? Just to add, I have gone for a senior people consultant role for Capgemini and my examples worked. I was offered the role. I declined it as I was offered another one I wanted. Happy to support you in your interviews and work projects. You can always book a call with me when required - www.focusyourself.co.uk/book-online Good luck Sanja

    • @SanjaWilliams
      @SanjaWilliams ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s really difficult for me to suggest if you need a work visa to live and work here. I am aware that many people from India come to study over here which would allow them to work part time - 20h a week. When they graduate they can stay for 2 years without a sponsor after which they need a sponsor to stay.
