What are best L&D tools that you recommend for remote teams?

Hi Olivka, great question. If I think how learning used to be, pretty much classroom based, most of the time boring in terms of delivery and mentors that we wouldn't see very often. I have since then learnt about and worked with a 70:20:10 learning model. I would like to add that the key to learning initiatives is that it needs to be personalised.
70% is learning on the job through personalised learning activities
20% is learning through others (these can be shadowing, secondments, acting up)
10% is learning via formal courses
So when we break down our learning this way it is easier to organise and structure what it is we need to do/can offer to our employees.
For remote teams, it is definitely online learning. Most organisations offer some learning platforms, some courses tend to be mandatory some are optional. Commitment to learning needs to be discussed and agreed through a personal development plan so managers can have follow up conversations around it. I would add that these platform need to be fun and easy to use.
I would also ensure you consider including a work coach peer support group as I think this is a gap. People used to learn from each other in the office, often drafting tricky emails together, preparing for meetings together, reflecting on those meetings if good or bad, this has now disappeared. So a work coach peer group is something I would introduce (and I am doing some of this already) so they have weekly check ins, check each other's work, presentations etc I have observed concerns and feedback around stakeholder management, communications, working styles etc so this is best done when working with someone closely.
I would also introduce LET'S LEARN sessions of all sorts of topics to create a community. For example, it can be anything that is organised online, as often as needed, called in the subject meeting invite - Let's Learn [insert topic] - and everyone is invited to join. They are usually short - up to an hour only, recorded so people can watch on demand. I have enjoyed these inputs in my roles to date. People comment, add value and help each other. It creates a community look and feel.
All this to be complimented with talent management initiatives, internal mobility, lateral moves and promotions where employee see there are options and they are invested in. All internal job adverts to have only absolutely essential skills listed and avoid long lists and unrealistic expectations.
Hope this helps, I am happy to share more.

@@SanjaWilliams thank you. I was wondering whether you know some tools such as canva or others that can help in remote training, practical tools. Most companies use slack or zoom but these are not great for learning seminars. I am interested in told where you can do pair exercise group exercise quizzes etc.

@@olivka7560 Hi Olivka. Zoom is actually quite interactive as you can annotate as you present and make it quite interactive, you can put people in groups and pair them up there. If you are planning to deliver some training that is a live session and you are commissioning someone to do it for you they can advise on best tools. I am not a training person so I am limited to comment.
However, I like mentimeter - www.mentimeter.com to ask participants to comment, answer questions anonymously as they are in a live session. I have been part of sessions where this was used it is quite fun too as you see the responses there and then on the screen. I also like typeform - www.typeform.com Kahoot is also fun for quizzes - kahoot.com
If you are doing an online workshop, yes you can use Canva as a whiteboard, there is another tool called iObeya which is also a whiteboard - www.iobeya.com
