This is AMAZING vs. This SUCKS: The Duality of Living Abroad
"I'm leaving and I'm never coming back!" Aht Aht... you sure about that?
In this video, we're diving into two opposing tales about leaving home and living abroad. I'm opening up about what went wrong with my moves to Colombia and China because I came across two Instagram Reels that compelled me to make this video! They both jumped off the screen at me for two different reasons. Watch and find out what they were!
We love a "Keep it 💯" girlie, and this video is full of raw, honest feelings about experiences as women who dared to leave the United States of America (and Australia) to try life abroad. Which end of the spectrum are you on? Let me know in the comments!

Hello Jessica! Loved your video. I'm planning on visitting Chongqing next year and who knows, probably staying there. I just started studying chinese but of course I have a very long way ahead till I can feel like I'm anywhere near fluent in it. I wanted to ask you - how much of a requirement would you say it is to have some certain level of chinese in order to stay there with a working visa for at least a year? I know some other more international destinations in China like Beijing or Shanghai would make it easier without being able to speak chinese but Chongqing and Chengdu areas have been my dreamed destination for so long now. And if I'm allowed a little last question, how hard would you say it is to find a job as a foreigner in Chongqing? 谢谢姐姐 Keep up the great content!!

I've been slowly watching through all your videos and loving them so much :) you give such a lovely vibe and the idea of traveling there feels so much less daunting with these videos! I'm an anxious traveller and I like to know my routes and how to get places as much as I can before traveling, and Chongqing seems like a nightmare for my fastidious dedication to knowing my surroundings with it's landscape, but your videos make it seem so much fun and interesting, so I can't wait to visit! The international teaching market in China is dying fast. Aside from the double reduction policy dramatically reduced the ability of for profit institutes to expand/charge exorbitant fees there are many other issues. Training centers are not allowed to teach core curriculum (English included) to K9 on the weekend, after 8pm and during holidays. It killed 92% of training centers. They're also nationalizing the curriculum and extending public education. Besides this I am getting the strong feeling from parents that they no longer value foreign education as much. People are much more concerned about value for money and schools are much more reluctant to hire NETs. I've seen salaries drop about 8-10,000 yuan in the space of a year and foreign tertiary education has loss its appeal. I suspect global tension is a lot to do with it but I still think the fact that local schools are climbing global rankings has a lot more influence. There is no future for unqualified foreign teachers in China. Competitiveness is on the rise.
