Never send files before you receive a Contract and payment. You do have recourse because you do have proof in your text that they were to pay you. Consult a lawyer.
@@DualityIsAThing I am not from USA but I heard some lawyers there get their fees from payouts in successful cases. So although you do not have the lawyer fees but you could try asking lawyers to see if they are okay with the arrangement. And looks to me you got a solid case.
