Using your math why did the z come out to 400. What was calculated differently
At 4:15 in the video the formula should read (400 x 40) / 39.88 = 401.2 instead of (80 x 40) / 39.88 = 401.2. There is a note for this in the description
Thank you for the quick reply. I am a newbie printing and still trying to figure a lot of this out so I need to look in my machine and get my base setting first as how yours was reading 80 correct and 400 on the other one and you multiply that times 40 which is the 40 mm of the cube correct And I rewatch the video several times looking at how you were measuring the block and it looked like you measured the same axis twice. I will go back and rewatch things again.
My NP3 pro doesn’t give me the option to adjust that in the menu. I was able to do flow rate and z steps. I have travel options but my numbers look much higher that yours and I don’t want to mess it up.
@@rtlofishing Understood! When in doubt, leave it as it is. How accurate are your finished prints?
Thank you very much for your shared deep knowledge.
Thank you for watching!!!!
I haven't used my K1Max in 6 months as I've been so busy with other things. I see they're up to v5.1 now. I'm gonna watch all your new vids and dial in my printer again. Thanks Bill for your great work!
Thanks for the nice comment & thanks for watching!!
I don't have Pass one , nor do I have Pass 2 under my calibration menu..............
Hi, I'm just doing this pass myself as I speak (type), I think in V5.1 the menu has changed to: Calibration - Flow - Coarse tune and Pass 2.
@@MarcoS-dc2le You are correct!!!!
I really appreciate your videos. I really enjoy this hobby when things are going well. But, I really get upset and frustrated when prints fail without warning and with no explanation. I can always depend on your videos to help me through it.
I get that! It's never fun when things go bad! I'll have some days where multiple printers seem to get an attitude and start failing at the same time!
So why do we scale the cube up again?
A larger cube gives better results because it covers a larger area. The downside is the print time increases. There are x,y,z calibration axis models on Printables & thingiverse that span 100 mm in each direction are very useful for calibration.
Bill, you are the best source for informations about the Creality print. Thank you.
Thank you for those kind words & thanks for watching these videos! It's very much appreciated!
Wow, I didn't know that my ender 3 Esteps/,mm is way off 5mm from what actually needs to be. Thank you for this simple yet useful calibration!
I hope it helped! Thanks for watching!
Great video, I really liked the different ways you showed to do the nut, I especially liked how you did the circle to get the chamfer on it, I hadn't seen that before! My biggest problem in 360 is that I don't use it enough to retain what I've learned! (and old brains!) I love the 3D printing, and am a subscriber to your channel. Thanks so much for sharing this with us!!!!!
Fusion 360 is a great tool!! Keep with it & thanks for watching!
Hi Bill, another interesting video nicely explained, thank you. Rounding down, I got a Max Flow Rate of 20.5, I have a Creality K, I'm slowly getting my head around the math lol. Thank you again for you taking time to make these terrific videos, with all the software updates and changes from time to time, it must feel a bit repetitive. Take care, from Perth Western Australia. Regards Gary.
It does get repetitive sometimes but I would rather provide a source for information over seeing people, especially the new folks struggling and getting yelled at in the online groups. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching.
@ it’s a pleasure Bill 😊.
Great video, thanks. Wondering if you have any experience with Orca slicer. Looking at these same issues when using Orca. If you do, any chance of putting together this same discussion using Orca?
Sure do and I'll add it to list of upcoming videos!
When you said "when you're not sure which one to go with, go with the larger one", you went with the lower value. Bit confusing, eh.
Typically I would go to the larger one. I suppose I should've stayed with that.
Good video, thanks. How did you determine the scarf seam parameters that you used? Hard to believe you just randomly picked the values you used. Was there documentation that you referenced that gave you your starting parameter values? You also didn't cover any of the downsides to using scarf seams like increase material usage and print time. Would be really useful to understand those tradeoffs when trying to decide on whether to use scraf seams. Also what model features can benefit most from using this? Things like circular shapes, overhangs, angled sections, etc.. Would be good to understand how to evaluate an object to better understand what types of features it has that should prompt you to try scarf seams. And is there any correlation between the type of filament used (ie PLA vs PETG vs TPU vs ABS vs ASA, etc.) and the quality of the results you can expect?
Hi Bill. Did you know there's an update for Creality Print 5.1.4, it's 5.1.6, I just finished installing it, you don't loose all your settings. Regards Gary 🙂
Yes sir! Sure do and I'm running it!! How are you liking it so far?
@ hi Bill, I like it. After I did the flow calculation and the volume metric flow, I’m not getting any layer lines at all, just some fine cobweb stringing at times, otherwise all is great. Cheers, take care. 👍🏻
before this video I couldnt even find the settings of retraction on the program thank you for the video
Awesome! Glad it helped! Thanks for watching!!!!

This is incredible. The simplicity of how you provided the information in a very clear and direct way. Congratulations on the well-formulated content. Thank you for your time and dedication. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!
Just an o servicing. When setting up the test, the last item is referring to a bed TEMPLATE, not bed temperature. The units are in mm3/s, not degrees, so it's printing at your standard filament temp.
Bill, @pushingplastic is it worth printing a speed tower, and have you made a video on how to use it on Creality 5 please?
How do I change the type of money I use for me it's stuck on yen??
Brilliant. Very helpful video. Thanks.
Thanks, good explanation
Im only ~3 months into 3d printing and finding you're videos very helpful , I've managed to get some real nice prints from my very cheap Ender 3 v3 se, thanks from a UK plastic pusher.
Welcome to the world of 3D Printing. I also have an Ender 3 V3 Se, I love that printer! I've even recommended to friends and family members that were getting into 3D printing. Awesome sign off on the comment as "UK Plastic Pusher"! Love it! Thanks for the comment & thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. Where should you set the sliders? And what's the print time impacts to where you place the sliders? When you repeatably hit the SMOOTH button does that move the associated slider? Or does hitting the button just change the layer heights and show in the object diagram? Would be nice to know how much smoothing you've applied with a numerical value. Seems a little odd how the buttons & sliders don't necessarily seem linked.
gracias por el video saludos, muy buenos tips

Awesome work man I’ve been following you for quite a bit and you left some awesome tips. Help my printing quality really good.
Awesome! Thanks for the comment and the kind words!! And thank you for watching!!!
At some point, would you consider covering how to make a model water tight (like a vase that will retain water) using CP 5.1.xx and either an Ender 3 V3 (plus or other) ?? Also, if you know for sure, to explain what the repair model option in CP 5 really does. I find your explanations to be top notch. You don't assume that people should know everything. This is awesome! Thanks in advance.
You just solved my glossy print problem I noticed this weekend. Any joy on the underside of supported prints looking stringy?
In the "Avoid crossing walls" tooltip it says that leaving it at 0 disables it?
I noticed that to. I think what they are trying to say is that leaving it at 0 let's the slicer algorithm decide.
awesome, thank you. yet another helpful video :)
Thank you and thanks for watching!!!!!!
Ive been getting prints that look like it skips a line ive tried everything i dont know what the heck to do happened outta no where
Skips a line? In the z-axis? If the z axis, I would check to make sure that there is no debris on the vertical screw, or look for some interference that might be causing the filament to get hung up when it reaches a particular height. What printer are you using?
@ yea on the Z. Its so strange, i wish could post a picture but i will try that thank you. Awesome tip video
@@JayEm16 I had it once on my Ender, the filament was getting snagged. Then it would break free. Another thing to check is the filament spool and make sure that there is no burrs on the inside.
@ it seems to be happening with polyterra only which isnt as smooth. So going through bowden tube might be snagging it
@@JayEm16 You didn't say which printer you had, so I don't know if this will help. But I got 2, Ender 3 V3 Plus printers and on one, I printed out the top rail spool holder, made an extension cable for the runout sensor and mounted it on top. Now, I have the filament on top, going right into the runout sensor and then directly into the extruder. No longer PTFE tube to cause resistance. Since then, the ONLY time I had a layer missed issue is when the particular filament I was using, sort of unwound a bit and snagged itself under its own filament. Once released, the prints go without issue. It would be good to know, specifically which printer you have. No matter which, one test you can do is to feed filament from the spool through the PTFE tube, but just before letting it go into the extruder, you pull the end of it to see if there's a lot of resistance. On my old printer, any resistance would cause this problem. On that printer, I had to take apart the extruder and stretch the spring so that the gear would be pushed tighter against the filament. This worked. ???
Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Very useful content with great delivery. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks for the kind words & thanks for watching!
Howdy pard'. So about six months ago you switched from Orca to Creality Print 5? Have you published a video saying why you've swapped ships? I mean absolutely no critique, just curious because I've heard conflicting 'things' regarding Creality Print 5...thanks.
I have not switched!!! I actually use Orca, Bambu Studio, Creality Print & Cura depending on what Printer I'm using. I find all of them great slicers. A lot of my videos lately have been for Creality Print primarily because there is limited support for Creality Print.
The avoid crossing walls tip now makes TPU printing so much easier, thanks
Agreed! Thanks for comment and thanks for watching!
Tfs❤ Can you do the same fixes in Cura? Not sure if its quite as sophisticated as Creality print😊
Yes, Some of them by using per model settings others I'm going to have to dig into. Sounds like a good idea for an up coming video?
Whoop! Great tips. Thanks. Your slicing seems really fast compared to how long I think my computer would take (2017 intel i5 iMac). What tech specs are you running on your PC?
Don't be fooled! During editing, I started cutting out the slice processing time. It makes the video a little faster by cutting out dead time watching the slicing process go from 0 to 100%. By doing this I can pack more information into a video rather than having the video sit there watching the slicing.
Awesome for newcomers!
Awesome! I'm glad to hear that.! It was the motivation factor behind this channel!!! Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!!!
I just had to mention this. I just printed something that I've printed before where I could feel the "random" seam bits all along the sides. I ran the print again, but with your Scarf settings and I can't believe it! The sides are like glass! Zero bits anywhere. Inside and out! Thanks so much for this tip and explaining it so perfectly.
Nice! I'm glad this video helped out! Recently I did a print with a shaft that that turns inside of a cylinder. I forgot to use my scarf seams so now as the shaft turns, I get a little bit of sticking where the z-seam from the shaft and cylinder meet. I got me wondering how it would've been affected with the seam at random. I'm guessing a lot more sticking? That scarf seam is great for appearance and mechanical movement! Thanks for the comment & thanks for watching!!!
@@pushingplastic7445 So here's something.... sigh... I don't know if this is a bug in CrealPrint 5.1.14 or something I may have done... which I doubt... So when something prints so nicely, I "save as project" so as to retain all the settings. So today, I need to print a 2nd copy of this for the other printer. I find the project file and open it! Only to find that not only are the object not there, but none of the settings change to what I had set (scarf stuff)! I had never ever had this kind of issue with Cura, so I don't know if it's a bug or not. So now, I'm going through your vid one more time, setting the numbers up again, but not only re-saving the project, but taking note in a spread sheet of these settings. I'm curious, have you ever seen this kind of bug in CP 5.1.xx?
Yup, found another bug! So I got all my settings entered so I clicked on the little "disk" icon to "save as" (process area) and saved it. When it returned from save, the stupid settings reverted to what they were before! So, I set them again, went to save as again, but just double click on the profile I just changed. This time, it saved it properly. I really like CP 5.1.xx, but the bugs have to be fixed for sure. Without someone like you guiding, I would have never discovered this at this level.
I’ve always found ironing to produce inconsistent quality across larger surfaces. I don’t really use it at all anymore.
Some people swear by ironing. I've never been a big fan of it. Like you, I'm not getting consistent quality. Thanks for the comment & thanks for watching!
*Subbed!* It's very interesting how this feature can actually change the color and texture of the print. I was surprised by that, but then, I guess, it has to do with temperature at certain speeds and such. I was testing some PETG that I had, first, I had to dry it! Then I tested at different temps and speeds. I was surprised at the vast difference in how the final finish looked. I did the same with some Silk PLA I had laying around, including some that the package was never opened. I wanted shiny and good layers. I first printed very hot (235C I think it was) and the finish was dull. I lowered the temp and the finish was then very shiny. This is a great channel! It's good to learn from those with experience AND that's using the same slicer. It leaves little to no guesswork. Thanks for this. Now... if ONLY we can get him to share those STL for those nice vases. LOL 😉😜
I get those vases from STLFlix.com. It's a subscription service. I bought their lifetime membership last year on a whim. At the time I thought I might go Etsy (still haven't), and figured the subscription would pay for itself. Thanks for the kind words and as always, thanks for watching and for the sub!!!!
This is one of the most informative vids I've seen. I have a 3 V3 Pus and I'll be testing this. I do wish that you would have re-printed the test tower after the adjustment so that we could see the difference. Still, great vid. Thanks for that.
Thanks for the kind words. The reason I didn't reprint the test tower is because during the test, Creality Print changes the settings as the tower grows in the Z axis. I could've printed something like a simple Cube before running the calibration and printing a second cube after and compared those two prints. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!
Me realizing there is no hyper PETG profile in creality print so I'm modifying the pla profile.
You could always take the Generic PETG profile, run a temp tower & flow calibration. Get those dialed in. Do your retraction calibration and then check the Max Volumetric Flow if you're looking for speed.
I’ve been wondering about this. Now I know how to do it! Thanks!
Thanks for a clear and easy to understand video.
I have not done a temp tower yet. Because I was missing this key info. Thank you dude. Now I know what to look for I will find it in the creality slicer
Awesome! In Creality Print, click the logo in the upper left hand corner, select calibration and you'll find it! Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!!!
