It sounds like you needed a better divorce attorney. Utah is an “equitable property” state. By rights, you were entitled to half of ALL property acquired during the marriage. Unfortunately, because divorce is frowned upon in Utah, and considered shameful by society, divorce attorneys are not as aggressive as they should be, and judges are not siding with the law - they are being guided by social norms rather than the law. However, fighting an unjust judge is an expensive undertaking, and a young “trad wife” won’t have either the money, family support, or knowledge to know how to plan such a campaign. I’m sorry you got reamed so badly. I’m impressed that you managed to create a decent life for yourself out of the ashes. I hope you go to law school - even if you are 55 years old - and find a way to change the law in Utah, either through the practice of law, by becoming a judge, or running for public office and working to pass laws that will better protect women.

It seems that NARCISSISTIC INJURY is an imaginary concept. Men just gravitate towards selfishness as a rule. They are bolstered by our society, cultures and religions. Every man I dated ( for a period of time)was exceedingly thoughtful and generous…….. in the beginning. Then gradually, little by little, they became incredibly focused on only their comfort and concerns. It can’t be that 80% of men have a psychological ‘injury’. My experience seems to be reflected in legions of stories told by women and seen by women for hundreds of years.

This is for Cory: before they tried to baptize me, I had to earn money from house chores or me and my brothers’ legit shoveling and newspaper businesses to tithe. My dad helped me calculate the amount (10% I usually paid in dimes 😁). When the missionaries stop by my house I give them homemade brownies or cookies and a cold drink. They know I’m not ever going on their conversion list, but they’d often offer to mow. I never let them but in hindsight I think they’d prefer yardwork to knocking on doors and I should’ve just said “sure”. This was a very good live!

I came to the same conclusion but I thought it was rooted in Kody's obvious narcissism rather than the show actually being part of the religious expectations. There is a psych concept called narcissistic injury. @poposych YT CREATOR Dr. David Colarossi does same great, in depth analysis of the show as a loo licensed psychologist and also with his wife. Do you think your dad, as prophet, believes Kody is also a narcissist? If Kody had remained in the AUB would they ever consider mandating Kody to get mental health assistance? We haven’t even reached the Garrison crisis yet, in the time line, so I am wondering what type of self reflection Kody will begin after that tragedy. There have also been a lot of evidence that Kody is regularly drinking alcohol, in public, and that some of his family are worried that Kody may have a problem with alcohol. Is that common in the AU! I love your videos! I’m in my 50’s, born in 1968. Growing up in In the 1970’s I remember the doctor, the dentist, orthodontist, etc. our family went to were all men. Now my doctor is a woman, the dentist I go to is a woman. I believe as the world has been coming out of that old school misogynistic world women are now finding their voice in every aspect of society. Your content is awesome!!! I have a theory about Kody’s “safe” speech. If Meri was abusive to everyone (verbally & emotionally), then all the stories make sense. Why no one checks on her now, why the wives don’t talk to her.
