She sees what other people have and knows what she’s missing. I think she’s afraid to engage too much with David because she thinks Kody will see it as a betrayal and will ignore her further as a result. All she wants is that love she sees other people have. She’s been hurt by him so many times. He also didn’t attend her spinal surgery and when she woke from the anesthesia she cried for him. It’s just horrible.
Ysabel is having trauma flashbacks to when Dayton, Aurora and Breana came into the family. They were REQUIRED to call Kody 'Daddy'. They were reprimanded by Robyn when they did not. They were legally ripped away from their bio-dad. Ysabel knows that Kody and Robyn did this to them. I think Ysabel is afraid that she will be required to disown or be disowned by Kody when Christine and David marry. Childhood trauma. Love is divided not multiplied.
That's a great point concerning Christine. The people around her are not used to her prioritizing herself. Very true. Her daughters being protective is sweet.
Robyn is definitely a helicopter mom. She was so worried about how her kids would take Meri leaving and the kids handled it just fine. The simplest explanation is usually the best with kids. I am sure that they will miss Meri but I doubt that it is going to scar them for life.
Those kids don’t understand who these women are to them. Obviously they never explained they all live in polygamy. Those women were their other mommies. Meri was just Ms. Meri. Not even an aunt. Let alone a mom. Ariel’s was told Christine was dumping her daddy. She didn’t even get that.
Robyn is jealous. She called Kody FaceTime everytime he went to the OG’s houses. She checked up on him all the time. He was talking about taking another wife after the divorces and she said she’d leave.
So many wives do this to their husbands. I remember being caught in the middle of it as a child. My dad refuses to take a call from a wife who then called over 50 times in one night & threaten to beat me if I didn’t give him the phone. We finally unplugged the phone
When Kody said at the Gwen’s engagement party that he enjoys his ‘tender’ Ariella MORE than his grandchildren, that’s telling you who he is: WHY is it a competition for you Kody? As to Meri: I am beyond frustrated with her inability or unwillingness to see the manipulation and duplicity of BOTH Kody and Robyn. As to Christine: I cannot imagine the pain of spending almost 30 years tied to a man who acted like he was throwing me a bone, when he was throwing me a bone. That she has finally found someone who loves, values & wants her because she is eminently deserving of all those things is wonderful!
Yes, I found that out with Cory. My ex acted like he did me favors by paying any attention. Then I get together with Cory and find out what real love is.
I believe Kody was just trying to prove he still has young kids and he plays with her like a real father. He’s being a good parent. She adores him. Plus he’s not around his grandkids.

Kody will talk mad smack on Meri if she ever gets up the cojones to demand her fair share of their assets. Both she and Janelle are in a tenuous legal position due to the illegality of polygamy, & it’s infuriating to see Kody & Robyn getting away with exploiting both of them and essentially (ethically) stealing what should rightfully be a portion of their combined assets. Meri is in for quite a shock when (or if) she ever reaches a settlement with Kody re the assets, because despite that she thinks he’ll behave ‘like a gentlemen’ she will quickly see he’s not fighting according to any Marquis of Queensbury rules of fairness. Janelle apparently is anticipating this, but is she willing to get in the ring with K & R? Maybe they are waiting to see how the custody/child support case resolves with Christine, but I think they are both going to be shocked at how vicious and underhanded Kody will get to hold on to every penny he can.
I appreciate your perspectives on these episodes. I was raised in a Christian “fundie” world and its fascinating hearing the likenesses and differences. So thankful that I didn’t have to share my dad though. My heart breaks for these kids.

Corey, I'm a Baptist from Texas, and I'm the oldest of four. There's a set of twins, which is me and my twin brother, there's my sister, and then our younger brother. Anyway, when I was growing up my mom would go through all four of our names, plus the dog's names, before she could get the person who was in trouble to answer. FYI, we only had two dogs, and they were both female. It was hard to keep a straight face when she would go for the dog's names. Oh, and we also had a cat whose name would get thrown in there also.
So Ysabel wants a father out of Kody yet she's not had that with him in a long time and fears that David might give her what she doesn't have with her own father. How sad she that she is dealing with this fear. She's unfortunately in a place of seeing what's she's been missing all this time and she's afraid she'll never get it again. Kody divorced Meri legally, but refused to divorce her spiritually, so she would accept no property settlement. Of course, part of her salary continued to flow into the ‘family fund’. So there was no reason to get the legal divorce, except to profit K&R.😡😡😡

But anyway, I was raised in a family that thought fortification was just fine and even wise. I don't see why delaying marriage is a problem when you don't have an issue with fornication. What is the AUB position on paying formal child support and providing health insurance? If Kody was on birth certificates and he had employer insurance he could have insured all 17 kids.
I wouldn’t say there is an official stance on such issues. Most families need every penny so they don’t normally get health insurance. It’s strange to me that Kody wasn’t on the birth certificates. My dad was on every child’s birth certificate that I’m aware of.

I was not born into polygamy, I was born to parents from the "old country" mentality where only boys matter. When you are a girl and do not count 1/4 as much as any of my 3 brothers no matter what you do or accomplish..... favoritism of any child over others is beyond painful

Any type of fundamental religion comes with traumas. I was more happy when my dad wasn’t home unfortunately. He was abusive more than not.
