Thanks for stopping by my TH-cam channel. I haven't narrowed a specific direction or topic, so my videos may seem “random”. You may see some product reviews, you may see some videos related to building my log home, you may see some motorcycle content, or maybe it’s just something cool that I’d like to share. As my channel evolves, it may take on a more narrow direction (or maybe it won’t), but for now, enjoy the random content. Thx for watching.

G-Scale Model Train - Shelf / Wall Layout (Part 1)
มุมมอง 26228 วันที่ผ่านมา
This is the start of a wall / shelf mounted model train layout at our log home. Today we purchased some track and picked a locomotive and one car, however, after laying out the track on the floor, we discovered this locomotive and curve diameter will NOT work for our room. We need to exchange it for a shorter locomotive that'll allow for a tighter curve radius. More to come... We purchased the ...

Ring Solar Floodlight on my Metal Building
I think you can have problems with any brand but I haven’t personally had any quality issues with my Indian. In fact, I’ve had more issues with Harley-Davidson previously.
Absolutely. I will say, Indian has stood behind the issues and they have addressed them all and made it right. So there's that...
One other gripe that I have is the position of the rear trunk lock button. It's on the side of the glove compartment. Not in the glove compartment, but you still have to open the glove compartment to access it...and it's tough to reach, you'd better have small hands. A really stupid place to put it.
The standard high beam/ driving lamps also run at a lower voltage during daylight driving. With LED headlights that are whiter in color, the high beams are hardly noticeable being yellowish. I upgraded to LED driving lights which are great and very nice at night when you click on the high beams! I love my 2023 Ridgeline. Wish I could reverse the autostart feature light in the dash to only be on when the feature is engaged and not when turned off. They should have a programable option to reverse the indicator to your preference. I leave it turned off but have to look at a bright yellowish orange light that resembles a trouble light on the dash constantly.
Where in MA are you from? Framingham for me.
I grew up in Hyde Park but I’m in Medway now.
@randomstuffwithjoe No kidding, my last house in MA was in Millis! Lol The Ridgeline will be perfect for me. The room with the backseat up for my older dog is perfect. She can't jump well anymore, and the truck is not that high, unlike the F150.
@@michaelp7185 I'm literally right on the Medway Millis line. I could throw a stone and hit the Entering Millis sign. lol. I'm really enjoying the Ridgeline. Surprisingly more than I did my previous Silverados.
@randomstuffwithjoe I lived on Pleasant st.

Congratulations on your beautiful new home!
Thank you. We are celebrating our 4th Christmas here and its been lovely. Log home living is like being on vacation 24/7. 🙂
5000lbs is not alot, it isn't a ton.......no kidding..it 2.5 tons.....lol
LOL. I realized I said that after I posted the video. I was too lazy to go back and edit it out. 🤣
Hi what's your city mpg on your 2024 , on my 2023 honda ridgeline rtl-e I get 11.9 mpg.
I'm getting aroung 19mpg city
Nice idea. Thank you for your sharing friend 🕊️
Looks quite handy. Might work for a kayak.
Yes, it would be very handy for hauling a kayak.
I own the 2023 RTL E model. I agree with that footrest .It leaves no room for stretching your foot on a trip over 20 miles. if you're under 5 ft tall it might be ok. I still love the smooth ride though.
I agree with you about 1-4 reasons and I’m in the market to buy the Ridgeline. For 7 years since the 2017 model Im not satisfied with those glitches and will not purchase until they clean up those issues.
It’s actually still a very nice truck even with the few minor dislikes I pointed out in the video. I enjoy it far more than my last two Silverados.
You're crazy to do a video today, it is so cold. Yes it was 10 degrees this a.m. when I ran out to get some milk at the store. (MetroWest). It is great to know these devices are out there since it may open my options to the size of bed required in my next truck. Thx for braving the cold to do this video.
Ya.. its pretty chilly out there today. But the upside was that the cold temps forced me to keep this video short and not over-do it. lol
Fits a canoe in the bed pretty well. Flip it around and you can match your roof rack height. Makes the truck bed and roof rack more versatile.
Yes, it can be flipped to match the roof height. It was just so cold out today that I couldn't bare to do a more lengthy video. Its definitely a versatile accessory. I've been wanting to get one for years - even before I had the Ridgeline. Its definitely gonna come in handy for misc. lumber trips.
Good video! Please don't top off your gas tank. You'll ruin the catalytic converter.
Thx for watching. I don't normally do the top-off thing. I only did it for the purpose of this video so I could get the most accurate MPG test possible.
My Brother-in-law gave me something very similar. It is adjustable horizontal as well as vertically. And, I hauled 16' lumber with it. (I had a Ram ecodiesel at the time). Good for over length stuff.
Yes, its a great and convenient accessory for the occasional 12-16' lumber run.
I agree on the push button shifter. I have, on more than one occasion, pressed the wrong button when in a hurry to parallel park in traffic.
New subscriber. I’m mid 50s as well and started a channel. Only a small amount of subscribers. It’s travel related. Haven’t done many long form videos yet. Mainly lives from drives and motivational shorts. You’re Authentic and true. That’s the reason I subscribed.
That is awesome! Best of luck with your channel. I’ll check it out. 😀
I have a small channel where I fix and flip power equipment. I show different aspects of doing that, and show off stuff that interests me that I feel may interest someone else. Average income is $500-$1000 per month depending on the season, its sort of a spring/summer channel. I just checked a few minutes ago and I've made just shy of 50k with the channel since it was created. Not bad!
Thats awesome. Not bad for some additional passive income. My channel has really only been making money for about 6-7 months now, but its coming in around $5k for this year. My goal for 2025 is to double my subs and consistently upload content - 1x per week.
@randomstuffwithjoe that's a sound plan. Ive invested every cent of that 50k over the years into Bitcoin. I don't dare say how much it's ballooned into 😁
@@machinesnmetaloh my wife’s brother got in on bitcoin when it was $10 share. He cashed out last year and I can’t even begin to imagine how much he made.
@randomstuffwithjoe do a video on that!!!
Love the home. I just subscribed.
Thx for watching.. and welcome to my channel. 😀
I’m pretty positive they can’t put a damper on the tailgate because of the dual action
I'd be interested to know the brand of your vent kit. I like the black cover inside on the wall that neatly allows vent and fresh air intake to be close together and neat and orderly.
@@ericbrown6454 I wish I could answer this. I had the stove installed by the dealer and they provided the vent kit and pipe. They did a nice job on the install tho.
My 06 suzuki c90 is all metal, no plastic. Id be pissed as well.
I do have to point out tho.. Indians customer service has been outstanding, even if the dealer has been less than helpful. Indian has resolved every issue speedily and without question.
That start stop should have been switch
I had $$ down in 21 on the new Frontier after a lot of considering....I actually never considered the Ridgeline. BUT.... due to Covid the Frontier was delayed delayed and delayed. Thank God! I randomly was going by a Gonda dealer and they were unloading a SPORT TRIM. I drove it, bought it on the spot. Better driving, so mucg room, decent towing, great AWD!! Love it so much I might trade it for the RTL. The SPORT is well equipped! I do a lot of camping, pull a teardrop, go on forest roads etc. It's a REAL truck. I'm not doing crazy off road. I'm also a landscaper and this works great as my back up.
analog speed w/ digital is questionable. being kind. and who doesn't use apple car or android auto? really.
your story about hauling things for the foster fam was the highlight. good on ya'. good info on pickup too, though. these hondas are sleepers. if you know, you know.
I like my 24 Sport, same color as this one, more and more every time I drive it. I need to give it a detail since it saved me from a 24 tacoma. 8000 miles now.
It is a great truck! I love mine too.
Too bad the fuel mileage is bad. I have been thinking about getting one. Good review! Thanks!
MPGs are as good or slightly better than most other mid size trucks.
I bought a 2021 Ridgeline sport and traded it in after 39000 trouble free miles for a 2023 Ridgeline RTL both vehicles nearly identical except for RTL upgrades. I use it for everything and it is a pleasure to drive on long and short trips especially towing either my box trailer or open one. You didn't mention the fold down seats which create a huge space for hauling tools, pets etc.Lastly, be sure to keep it it great condition as the trade in values are excellent as there are many buyers who love Honda products but cannot purchase brand new due to their budget.
Street Glide 2024 has been my dream bike. Check it out. Good luck.
I took one out for a short ride not too long ago. I didn't really enjoy it. The bike just didn't feel right to me ergonomically. Thx for watching.
I recently started a solar project. I've got 3 200 watt panels feeding a battery inverter arrangement. I have powering part of my house. But, the whole system is a test. It's going to get transferred to a camper / rv that I don't have yet.
Don't do it Joe. Don't fix what isn't broken (yes, pun intended, but also not). More content is a good direction, narrowing the focus...I think not.
Thx for the input. I do enjoy making videos on a variety of subjects. My goal for 2025 is to make more of an effort to get a video out every week. And possibly on the same day every week. I've read that TH-cam algorithms like consistency. I'd also like to make an effort and making my "presentation" stronger - if that makes sense. But like I said in this video.. I never intended to be here in the first place.. it just sort of evolved on its own. lol. Anyway, thanks again and I appreciate your comment. 🙂
Hi Joe, did you announce the giveaway winner yet? Or did I missed it?
I did. It went to a young lady in Vermont. I was getting some cruel comments and emails on the video I posted saying it was "fixed" and I ended up removing it from the channel.
@randomstuffwithjoe I guess I missed that part.
@@seanleau The video was only up for 2 days. I got a half dozen very rude emails and a few vulgar comments - and I realized it might be best to take the video down. I was pretty surprised by it.
I tried a giveaway with few subscribers(150). Didn’t work for me.
Love the channel name and the random topics. The train thing is cool.
Thx for watching and thanks for the input. I truly appreciate it. 🙂
Joe, I like the random format you have been using. Most of us are homeowners and motorcycle riders too, so many of the things you have done in the past, from reviews of leaf blowers, or pellet stoves, or your Indian motorcycle, we all can relate to. I loved the ones where you were talking about the building of your home and clearing the land and landscaping it too. Naturally a motorcycle trip or just a ride, is always worth a video too.
Appreciate that input. Its hard to figure out TH-cam. Its crazy how some videos can get tens of thousands (or even 100s of thousands of views) and other videos only get 200 views. I really have no idea how TH-cam's algorithms work, but I know it likes regular content uploads.. and coming up with ideas on a regular basis is challenging. But I'm doing my best - while also trying to balance family life. lol.
@@randomstuffwithjoe Lots of times you have to have a title that gets people's attention (sometime even stretching the truth a little), like the "I'm Done with Indian Motorcycles. Time to get a Harley". People click on that to know what's going on. BTW...one idea for a video is a test ride on a Triumph Rocket 3, I know you said you like them. I certainly would watch that video.😊
@@pcthayerthat’s on my bucket list if for no other reason than to experience the raw power of it. Lol. A 360 cam is in my future for 2025.
@@randomstuffwithjoe BTW...I just googled "youtube titles that get the most views" and it gave some good suggestions, you may want to try the same.
Don't really have any great ideas on how to focus, but you are a good story teller. Your easy going pace and honest attitude is refreshing in today's world.
Well thank you for the kind words. I appreciate the support as I figure this whole TH-cam thing out. 🙂
Cyber truck is not only ugly, but if the taillights are not on, you can barely see the back of it for some reason. Take notice..
Ok.. ok.. you're right. the Cyber Truck is not ugly. Its hideous. 🤣
This pickup truck actually might be good for a tradesman. It has a huge trunk in the bed for tools. I might look into one. The huge grills on pickups trucks these days are silly. Nothing like a wall for a grill going down the highway. Its like the Saturday Night live skit. I need More Grill.😬😅
It would be a good truck for tradesmen for sure. The trunk space in the bed is a big plus.
@@randomstuffwithjoe i'm an electrical contractor. i concur
Needs a bit larger bed and towing for a work truck. I use it for >>> work. I'd buy one .
I have a 2017 touring ridgeline and is a great truck. I take it on the bush roads fairly often and always surprised by the stability and traction - great AWD system.
Im a hvac contractor . 22 years as a pro . You did the right thing . Plumbers are really not energy experts . Many dont reclaim refrigerant and tune burners by the color of the flame. I want to drive those people out of the industry. Plumbers are for drains . Not heating systems.
Ya.. I almost fell for it. This little system has been flawless in the 3.5 years we've had it. We're going into our 4th winter with it.. and it works fantastic. It helps that the house is very well insulated too. The combo of the heat pump system and our pellet stove and our house is super comfortable in the winter. And the a/c in the summer is great to. And the topper is that we went solar last summer so now our entire home is electric and I haven't had an electric bill in over 10 months. We're still running with a credit on our electric bill.
yeah i like duel fuels. If ng is available for hot water and back up . But next to that with off grid heat . Which is good because you shouldn't run these things on standard generators. Whole worlds heating up . Their the right call in Canada right now. @@randomstuffwithjoe
What is the payload, and does it make a good work truck??
Payload depends on the trim level. My truck is the RTL and it has a payload of 1544 lbs. Thats right up there with the Silverado I traded in. The downsize is that it doesn't tow as much with only a 5000 lb tow rating. But if you're not towing.. I'd say it would make a good little truck. The bed is actually more roomy than my Silverado as well.. because it doesn't have the wheel wells protruding into the bed.
The main reason that I would not buy this truck is the engine shutting down three of its cylinders when it's not under any load. This feature has been a disaster since its inception back in the 80's with GM. I don't want the engine running on one bank of cylinders.
Hey Joe if you can, send me the link to those closeouts please. Bike is sharp by the way.

I bought a New 2019 AWD 'T' model. Now 76000 miles in 5 years. I drive it locally daily around 20 miles. Comprising both 'street' and 2 lane paved country roads. Also take several, hundred mile trips to other states once or twice a year... I do the maintenance at my Local Honda Dealer (only 1 mile from my house) per the book and any free 'replacements' like the fuel pump warranty item and similar. I love the truck. (I call it a car that Can Haul 2 motorcycles and all my related supplies anywhere I want to go.) Including driving 'mild' dirt roads up in the mountains on vacations... I love my Gear Shift Lever! (NO buttons for me!) I also love the 'T' model's Right side-mirror Camera feature that goes on when you hit your right turn signal! THIS should be standard. :) I haven't seen anything in newer models I have thought was an 'Improvement'. :( No Thanks. I Love mine. Even considering the Expensive 100, K service at my dealer!) (Silly stuff like a Manual tappet adjustment system the SAME design as on my original 1967 Honda 50 motorcycle! But I will say....at least those tappets design are reliable!) :) Also: Expensive replacement of rubber timing belt 'requiring' replacing the Water Pump while you are in there!... and several similar items I think saves THEM costs in construction. Then WE pay extra for the service routine. But! I think it is utterly reliable and is worth it. (PS: I am a Toyota small pickup then New T100 and 'bought used' early Tundra V8 guy.) Both theT100 and Tundra were tough and decent priced to have the rubber timing belt changed! My T100 had 300K miles with regular maintenance when I sold it.... I LOVE my 2019 Honda! :D Newer ones? No thanks! :)
I bought a 2023 n very pleased! Dodged a bullet as I almost bought a Tacoma! Scotty had a segment n mentioned he thought the Honda engine was tops!
Hey Joey...Central PA Pizzan here; 2023 Ridgeline Sport...recovering 37yr full size truck guy. I agree w/ vast majority of your assessment. I'd add, at 25,000mi, I serviced everything (trans, transfer, rear diff & such, and it was easy sneezy! My buddies of course poke fun, they call it a Japanese El Camino. Whatever! I like it and at 58yrs old I really don't give a crap what they think. I still go most everywhere they do & FOR LESS!!! My payload, bed space and interior room surprisingly competes w/ them. I don't rock climb or tow a big trailer (never did) sooo... Good review Mi Amico.
Remind them it's not made in Mexico!
Fuckman….just spit it out and get to it…. You wasted way more time blabbering than anybody I’ve ever seen online
Hate the push button gears in the center console. My wife and I have a Pilot with it along with other shift/braking setting buttons stuck in there that the Ridgeline has located elsewhere. And IT IS A NIGHTMARE with two little dogs that go everywhere with us, always stepping on and changing the settings.
