2024 Honda Ridge- Real World MPG test on 330 Mile Road Trip
In this video, I took a 330 Mile Road Trip to take my daughter back to college. I decided this would be a great opportunity to test the actual MPGs on my new Honda Ridgeline. The trip was 330 miles round trip.. and you may be surprised by the results.

    After looking at the Honda, i bought the Maverick with the Tremor package. It had a better AWD system, Better MPG, liked the interior better, and it was 8000.00 cheaper than the Honda with less equipment.

    The front collision sensers function the same over different year model Ridgelines, Pilots and Passports as in a "false" activation even as the oncoming traffic is well in their lane. The push button gear selection has been in the Ridgeline since 2020. The rattle at the rear when the truck is running, all of them do that (my 2020 Ridgeline and 2019 Passport included). You NEED the halogen high beams because ice and snow WILL cover up the LEDS and may set the front sensors warning light.

  • @MK-hb3xc
    @MK-hb3xc วันที่ผ่านมา

    @randomstuffwithjoe One of the first things I did with my 2023 Ridgeline was to install the Idlestopper. Took longer to pop off the panel carefully. Search the following - Idlestopper v2- 2024-2025 Honda Ridgeline - Turn OFF auto idle stop permanently - to find out about it. Best choice ever. I just didn't like the very slight hesitation if I was trying to pull out a bit quicker. It was about a 15 minute job. The videos are great. I also got the black cast Honda running boards, because I got to try them on my son-in-law's Pilot. I'm a bit short 5'6" and a bit old at 71, so stepping left foot up on the running board then putting my right foot in first is a breeze. On the passenger side it's just the opposite foot to enter. If your wife is relatively short, she'll possibly love the running boards and your son will find it easier to enter too. Last item I had to have was a tonneau cover and searching for information was a bit of a pain. I finally found an LA TV station that did an evaluation and I went with their best buy. It was a MaxMate Soft Roll-up Truck Bed Tonneau Cover Compatible with 2017-2024 Honda Ridgeline and well under $200 on Amazon! I figure if it wears out, at that price I'll just buy another. I like the mirror drop if I want it, slide the mirror adjuster to the side wanted and it will drop so you can see a curb when put in reverse. I would prefer the shift lever and preferably on the column, although it seems no one is doing that. I don't like the action of the crash mitigator. I turned it off, because it would activate when there was no real chance of my hitting someone who is turning right at an intersection and I pass them. It is too sensitive. I shut off the one for the lane detection, because it is too active when driving secondary highways. And I've turned off the active cruise control because of the jerky action I think you described. I think the soft close tailgate would be extremely difficult to fit with the "door style" opening. I virtually never use the standard tailgate drop myself, too. It just works great in all my circumstances. When I mow I have a full bed of cuttings and with a cheap HF tarp I dump the stuff in the bed. Then at the recycling farm I open the "door" and pull out the tarp. 30 seconds to unload. I would prefer to have the truck 2" lower, easier to dump grass in the bed. Plus the most "off road" I will do is rolling across the parking area of a county fairgrounds going to flat track races. I have a dual sport bike to do my "off roading". I love the trunk, keeping a case with my trailer hitch and the 1-7/8 and 2 inch balls (stainless steel and only the balls swap out). The trunk will hold dirty boots or whatever, plus any luggage can go in the back seat area. This thing is so roomy for whatever I may need. I had a 1996 Ranger with V-6 5 sp that I absolutely loved to drive. It was lowered and stuck like glue on roads. The Honda isn't as easy, but definitely rides better in most all other ways. Worst negative - it's new, the Ranger was old, I could smoke a stogie in the Ranger, but not with the Honda.

    Honestly, these things don’t sound like major things just sounds more like personal opinion. I would rather have a vehicle that gives me good gas mileage and have an inconvenient left foot rest then have a truck that breaks down after 30,000 miles of usage. Especially with how expensive trucks are getting nowadays.

    Good milage review. My 2017 RL MPG gauge is far from accurate usually off between 2 - 3 mpg. Glad Honda has fixed this issue. My 2017 RL gets similar mileage in warm weather but can drop off substantially in northern Michigan winters because of longer warm-up and heavier soft rubber snow tires. Was planning to get a newer RL but my 2017 drives like new so I'll probably keep it as their are few advantages to replacing it with a new one and insurance costs are lower. Winter is nearing and where the Ridgeline shines, if you ask me. Enjoy your RL!

    Hey Joe. I really like your review of the Ridgeline. I currently have a 2013 Silverado 238.000 Klms and I love my truck but its getting up there in age and will eventually need to replace it, have you seen the price on new trucks. I see allot of the Ridgelines here in Ottawa Ontario Canada and I really like the looks of the vehicle, I would go with a cap to accommodate things we bring to the cottage in the shallow bed. You indicated that allot of your 5 things were not deal breakers and I agree. I am not a fan sun roofs as I do keep my vehicles for long periods of time and this would be a leak issue down the road but over all a great review very informative thanks for this.

      I’m not 100% certain, but I believe the base trim (sport) does not have a sunroof. But it also has cloth interior instead of leather. If you’re ok with that.. it’s still a pretty nice truck and it’s less expensive.

    I bought a 2021 RTLE and love it!!! I previously owned 2 Tacoma’s and this truck beats both Tacoma’s hands down. Handling, speed, comfort, are all superior in the Ridgeline. The Ridgeline outperforms Tacoma in all areas except towing and off-roading which I don’t do. Wish they still made the RTLE , I love the blue interior lights, the premium sound and I have grey seats and interior. Only negative I don’t like the perforated seats, and the infotainment is much slower than new models. But I love the subwoofer with 540 watts. Great sound for a stock vehicle.

      As I said in the video, all of my complaints are relatively minor. I'm still happy with the truck overall and would still buy it again.

    Wish list for 2026. Unfortunately 2025 did not have anything new. 1) 360 bird eye view 2) faster infotainment 3) stick shift gear 4) 2" lift

      The infotainment was updated for 2024. It’s very responsive. Much improved over 2023 and older. I rather like it.

    Agree with eshift. Wish they kept or bring back stick. About LED, I don't care much about daylight or bed lights, but I did not like high beam light not being LED. Wish they raised ground clearance 2". About the foot rest, I actually like it, maybe because I am not tall and don't have long legs.About crash mitigation, mine does not do that. It flashed warning signs few times but did not apply breaks.
