    I'm also running an Absolute 63 here in Maine and we are also going on our 3rd season. Truly a wonderful stove. One recommendation I have for you is at the end of the season, put one of the small Dam Rid buckets in the ash pan. It was a night and day difference between the end of our 1st season and the end of our 2nd season. Basically, no surface rust at all to clean off at the start of this season.

      Its funny you mention this. I have a friend who stumbled onto my video last night and sent me a text message. He also runs a Harmon stove (different model). He recommended the Damp Rid as well. I'm going to try that in the spring when I do my cleaning.

    Thanks for the video! I just took a look at an Absolute63 in the Majolica color and I'm pretty certain on buying this for next winter. Such a beautiful stove and heat powerhouse.

      You’ll love it. It’s such a great stove and investment. Thx for watching. 😊

    I'd be interested to know the brand of your vent kit. I like the black cover inside on the wall that neatly allows vent and fresh air intake to be close together and neat and orderly.

      @@ericbrown6454 I wish I could answer this. I had the stove installed by the dealer and they provided the vent kit and pipe. They did a nice job on the install tho.

    Joe, this is such a great video. Would you be willing to go into more specifics on how this pellet stove saves money vs traditional natural gas?

      @@Andrew-Plausibly0791 thx for watching. I actually did a video about a year ago talking about the savings in more detail.

    In MA too waiting to buy a house to put a Pellet stove in. GREAT video ! FYI The second you got the Fed tax credit you paid for your system. $800/month elec bill for 6 months is $4800, $6k stove+install- $1800 is $4200. Just do simple math and it works out. Now that you have Solar (I too will get that some day) and you are golden ! Nice house BTW. Best thing with having a pellet vs wood burn is the Fill and forget it moto ;) Plus the storage for that much wood- I just saw that 1 cord of dried wood is like $700 :-O at PelletsRus in Acton. Figure out how to do a battery back up so that when electricity is out you can run the fridge and Pellet stove only, don't need to be big. Also do not put a generator on the porch, way too many people die doing this.

      Yes, the stove has definitely paid for itself already. And.. the ambience of a fire in a log home is priceless. Its super cozy on a cold day/night. Thx for watching. 🙂

    Great review of the pellet stove. If you lose electricity, can you still run the stove? (I know you have solar, but assume that goes directly to the meter with no local battery storage?)

      The stove needs power. As of now, if that happens, I have a smaller inverter generator and I’d just put it on the porch outside and run an extension cord. I’ve been considering getting one of those battery/solar generators like the Anker c1000. On a full charge that would keep the stove, fridge, and a few lights running for at least 12-15 hours.

      @@randomstuffwithjoe Sounds good. Something with a full charge sounds good to have, since if the power goes out at night, there is no sun to utilize the inverter. (Most people lose their heat if there is a power failure anyway since gas and oil furnaces usually use electricity too.) The reason I asked is I just didn't know if there was a manual mode you could use the pellet stove w/o the electricity.

      @@pcthayer My current inverter generator is a gas powered unit. It will easily power the stove, fridge, TV, and lights for about 10 hours on a gallon of gas. Its super quiet for a gas unit.. and very efficient. So if we were to lose power on a cold night.. I'd just put it out on the front porch (covered by a roof) and just run a cord thru the window. At least we can keep the heat going.

      @@randomstuffwithjoe That's great, so it sounds you have all your bases covered. (I have one too, but it's not set up to power the furnace, only the fridge and a few small things in the house.)

      If it helps, the Harman 63 uses 3.5 amp to start and 2.5 to run. With the system running on 115 volts, this equates to 402.5 Watts to ignite Initially and 287.5 Watts to keep the fans running. With this system you're also going to need an inverter generator as you'll need a consistent 60 hertz that traditional generators can't provide.

    What temp do you set the stove at? And what’s your schedule looking like between the Ecoer and the stove?

    • @randomstuffwithjoe
      @randomstuffwithjoe  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@doom4uall when the weather gets cold (it’s been mild so far this season), we typically set the stove around 75. I’ll set my Ecoer to 69. That way, if the stove ever shut down while we were out for any reason, the Ecoer would kick in and keep the house from freezing pipes etc. During the day when nobody is home, I’ll lower the temps a bit to conserve. We now have solar so we’re experimenting again this winter to see what works best for us - as it may be more cost effective with the solar energy. We’re currently going into December with a $400 credit on our electric bill.
