Good day everybody, today we will be doing a hymn written in 1934 by N.B. Vandall titled “My Sins are Gone.” Romans 3:23 says “ For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Unfortunately we have all been born with a sin nature because of Adam’s sin in the Garden of Eden. That is why Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:3 “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” You might ask how Can I be born again? Well Jesus is not talking about a physical birth, but a spiritual rebirth. The only way our spirits can be born again is by accepting the free gift that Jesus offers everybody when he gave his own life on the cross of Calvary. He shed his precious blood for us and paid the price of sin for everyone: Romans 10:13 “ For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Call upon Jesus today and have your spirit born again, it will be the best decision you ever make. I Will leave you with this last scripture, 1st John 1 verses 9,10:”If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (10) If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

This song is based on the gospel of John 21 verses 3 through 21. and also Mathew 14 verses 15 through 21. Jesus Christ supply’s our every need when we put our hope and faith in his shed blood. 1st Corinthians 1:18 says: For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” I am thankful for the promise of Jesus Christ in Mathew 12 verses 28-30. “ Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Put your trust in Jesus Christ today and let him help you through life’s many challenges, you will not regret your decision to follow him.

Good day everybody, today we will be doing a song written by Albert E. Brumley in 1929 titled “ I’ll Fly Away.” Psalm 116:15 says: “ Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” What a comfort that is to those of us who are born again by the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. One of my favorite passages in scripture is John 14 verse 1 thru 6. “ Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God believe also in me. (2) In my Fathers house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (5) Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? (6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.” I long to be with Jesus Christ, this world is not my home, I’m just a passing through. In 1862 William B.Bradbury wrote the tune and chorus “ Yes Jesus loves me, yes Jesus loves me, yes Jesus loves me the Bible tells me so.” When thinking of the lyrics of this song I was reminded of Romans 5 verses 8-10: “ But God commendeth his love toward us , in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Good day everybody, today we will be doing a song written in 1958 by Bob Ferguson, and Sung in 1960 by Ferlin Husky. This was a big hit for Ferlin Husky in 1960 and quickly became a number one song. In the Bible, the Holy Spirit of God is often shown by a dove. When Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Mathew 4:16 says: “ And Jesus when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water, and lo, the heavens were opened unto him,and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him.” This song is about the comfort that the Holy Spirit of God can bring to the one who is going through troubles and hard times. Call on Jesus today and he will bring comfort to you, and save you from your sin. On a side note, the picture of the ore boat behind me was painted by my son Michael in watercolor.

Good day everyone, today we will be doing a song written by Graham Kendrick in 1987. I remember singing this chorus many times at church. I volunteered at a Christian radio station for a couple of years and would play this chorus on the station most nights that I was volunteering. It is so easy for our hearts to be hardened because of all the evil and wickedness we see around us. Lord give us a heart of compassion to a lost and dying world. Jesus came to save the lost and I once was lost and now have been found, I was blind but now I see. Call on the name of Jesus today and be saved. Romans 10:13 “ For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Good day everyone, today we will be doing a hymn first published in 1887 titled “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms.” This hymn was written by E.A.Hoffman and A.J. Showalter. This hymn is based on the Bible verse found in Deuteronomy 33:27 “ The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, destroy them.” We all have struggles and problems, but none of them are beyond God’s help. Jesus said in Mathew 11:28 thru 30 says : “ Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and lean on me; for, I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Call on Jesus today for he will help you through your burdens and problems. Mathew 18:27 “ and he (Jesus) said, The things which are impossible with men, are possible with God.” I find that a great comfort that Jesus will help us through our most difficult times.

Good day everyone. Today I will be singing a song written and sung by Morgan Cryar in 1995. I have sung this song many times in church.I purchased the accompaniment sound track when it first came out on a cassette tape, and later purchased it on a cd because it was easier to cue up at church. I hope the words and message in this song will speak to you and bless you as much as they have blessed me over the years. Psalm 103 is one of my favorite psalms and verse number 12 says: “ As far as the East is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Thank you Lord God. 2nd Corinthians 5:21 “ For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” And finally 1st John 1:9 says: “ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Why not call on Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior and cleanse you from all your sin. It will be the best decision you have ever made.

Good day everybody, today we will be doing a song written in the early 1950’s by Jim Hill titled “ What a Day That Will Be”. The words in this song reminds me of the promises and hope in the book of Revelation that the people of God have in the soon second coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Revelation 21:3 and 4. “And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. (4) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and their shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” What a glorious day that will be. It hurts to see all the suffering and pain that many people are going through, but the old world will soon pass away and all things will become new. Even so come Lord Jesus.

This hymn talks about the new birth and being saved through the precious blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. John 1:29 says: “The next day John Seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” Colossians 1: 13,14 talking about Jesus says: “ Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear son: (14) In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.” Call on Jesus today to save you and his precious blood will take away all your sin.

Pace between 1939 and 1940 titled.”Heaven’s Jubilee.” This song is about the soon returning of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the joy and celebration we will have on that glorious day. 1st Thessalonians (16) “ For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (17) Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (18) Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” The question is are you ready to meet the Lord ? Only you can answer that question. Romans 10:13 says: “ For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Good day everyone, today we will be doing a hymn written in 1936 at a revival meeting in New Zealand by Edwin Orr. The song is titled “Cleanse Me” and the message in the song comes from Psalm 139: verses 23 and 24. “ Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me and know my thoughts:(24) And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Sometimes it is a good thing to search our own hearts and to ponder our motives of why we do what we do. Jeremiah 17 verses 9 and 10 says: “ The heart of man is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it ? (10) I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” Oh Lord, please deliver us from our sin and wash us in the precious blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Good day everybody, today’s song is about having your name written down in the Lambs Book of Life. There is only one way to have that done and that is found in Romans 10 verse 9 through 13. I will only write verse 13 today which says: “ For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Call on the name of Jesus today and ask him to cleanse you from your sin and your name will be written in the Lambs Book of Life.

Good day everyone, today we will be doing a song titled “Oh Say but I’m Glad.” This song was written in the mid 1930’s by Curtis Taylor. Just a few verses of scripture today to remind us we can still be glad and retain the joy of the Lord even amidst times of trouble. 1st Peter 4 verses 12,13,and 14. “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: (13) But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. (14) If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you; on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.” KJV My prayer is that if you are going through trials today that these verses may encourage and comfort you.

Beautiful, I really enjoyed that. I will listen in to other songs too this week. Maybe the 1st chorus I remember as a child, early 80s. It's a song that encourages us to spread the gospel.

As we come to the end of another year I thought that I would end the year with a reminder of the hope of our salvation. The birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Let us fix our hearts and minds on the only one who can save us. I love the words of Jesus in John 14: verses 1-6 “ Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. (2) In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so,I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. Good day everyone, today we will be doing a hymn written in 1897 titled “ Count Your Blessings.” The message of this song is a simple one. Instead of always dwelling upon the things that we don’t have or want, be thankful for the things that we have been blessed with from God. This scripture from Proverbs kept coming to my mind when I was learning this song. Proverbs 3: verses five and six. “ Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (6) In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” The true blessings in life are to know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior and that your name is written in heaven in the Book of Life.

In May of 1980 after approximately six months of strong conviction from the Holy Spirit of the living God I called on my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to save me from my sin. I had been making a lot of bad choices in my life and it almost cost me my wife and family. I remember the job I had at that time having a lot of time to think about what I had been doing and realized I was on the way to hell if something didn’t change. My wife Judy, had become a born again Christian in December of 1979 and had been sharing the love of Jesus with me. One day while going to the grocery store for her I cried out to God with this simple prayer. “ God I have done many bad things in my life, if you can forgive me, would you please show me.” That prayer was answered two days later when having a conversation with my wife, she said; “ Mark, if God can forgive you, so can I.” My prayer had been answered and I have never been the old man again that I had been. Call on Jesus today and he will save you just as you are. Romans 8:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Ephesians 2 verse’s 8 and 9: “ For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9) Not of works lest any man shall boast.”

Good day everybody. Today we are doing a song titled “ I want to stroll over heaven “ written by Carl Trivette in 1952. He wrote this song for his wife after they were first married . His wife passed away in 2003 at the age of 66. Mr.Trivette passed away in October of 2022. This song was written with the thought of strolling over heaven with his wife when they would be reunited again. The gospel of John 14 verses 1 thru 6 says : “ Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. (2) In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. Today we will be doing a hymn that was written in 1913 by George Bennard titled “ The Old Rugged Cross.” This hymn was designated the most popular hymn within 30 years of its first being published in 1913. More than 20 million copies had been sold, having outsold every other musical composition to that date in 1940. George Bennard made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ at a Salvation Army revival in Lucas, Iowa. He was originally entered into the ranks of the Salvation Army’s officers program. He later became an evangelist in the Methodist Church. ( this information comes from the book “ Songs in the Night “ written by Henry Gariepy.) 1st Corinthians 1:18 says: “ For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” 2nd Corinthians 5:21 says: “ For he ( God) hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin ; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him (Jesus). Good day everyone. Today we are doing a hymn titled “ This World is not My Home.” The words were written in 1931 by AP Carter and the musical arrangement was written in 1937 by AE Brumley. I don’t know about anyone else but I am longing for the return of Jesus Christ. 2 Timothy 3 verses 1-5 says: “ This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. (2) For men shall be lovers of their own selves , covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, (3) Without natural affections, trucebreakers, false accusers,incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, (4) Traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God, (5) having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” Sounds like the world we are living in today. Even so, come Lord Jesus. This world is not my home.
