These choruses bring back so many special memories. Mark and I were new born again Christians in 1980. This was all new to us, but we knew that God had done something in our lives. My friend had witnessed to me for 3 years and circumstances in our lives made us question how our life was going and the bad decisions we were making. God was starting to work in our hearts and convict us. I was saved first and I came home one night with some Christian books and tapes that my friend had given me. Mark was sitting around the kitchen table with some of his band members and made a comment about me becoming religious. He was not happy. My friend had given me a tape by Hal Lindsey about the end times. It took a few weeks of my asking Mark if he would listen to it and he finally did. It made him think of hell, and he knew that is where he was headed if he did not change his ways. He started thinking about that, and one day he was driving in the car and he asked God if he could forgive him, would he show him. A couple days later we were sitting in the living room and an issue came up and I looked at him and realized something wasn’t right, and God gave me a peace to say to him if God can forgive you so can I. Mark knew that was an answer to his prayer. God changed our lives so much that our friends at first thought it would not last, but they could not deny how much Mark had changed. One of the men that Mark worked with even said to him I want what you have. It was not long, and he got saved. His wife and family are still serving the Lord as well. Theses songs were so encouraging to us as we were now putting our trust in Jesus we were in church Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday. We loved hearing the Word of God being preached and we would read our Bibles everyday. It has been 43 years and we still thank God every day for how he changed our hearts and and healed our marriage. We read the Bible together every morning and pray. We are so thankful for God’s hand in our lives and his mercy that is new every morning. Great is his faithfulness.
I really was blessed by many of the choruses we used to sing at church. They bring to mind our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the finished work of the cross of Calvary. I am so thankful that I called out to him to save me in 1980. The picture in the background of the boy and girl was originally done by Norman Rockwell and it was titled “ Puppy Love”. My wife Judy likes to do diamond art and this was one of the pictures she did. Was very time consuming but we like the results of her efforts. We met in 1965 and were married on September 12th 1970. 58 years later we are still together and it’s hard to believe that the time has gone by so fast. Call on Jesus to save you today for none of us are guaranteed another day.
