Hello everyone! This is where I post videos of my various personal projects. That's the theme, that's the content, subscribe if you want to see what I come up with. I've been doing a lot of combat robotics videos lately, but other stuff will come soon!
Cheesecake defends his home! (Robot Rumpus, May 2024)
It's time to be a hometown hero! The Revolution Makerspace hosted a combat robotics tournament in Waltham MA, so it would have been criminal for Cheesecake to miss it! Sorry this video took so long, I've taken on a couple other projects recently.
PCBWay is the sponsor of this video. Check out their services for 3D printing, machining, sheet metal, injection molding, and of course, printed circuit board fabrication:
www.pcbway.com/
The tournament is a double elimination bracket. Each fight lasts 3 minutes. You win by disabling your opponent so they can no longer move. If a robot cannot move, it will get counted out on a ten-second countdown. Even if it can only drive in circles, that is usually enough movement to avoid being counted out. If both robots are still moving at the end of the fight, then the winner is declared by a panel of judges, who score each robot based on damage (done to the opponent) aggression (how much each robot initiates the engagements) and control (how much control you have over the fight). Drivers are allowed to tap out at any time during the fight. Drivers may also request one "unstick" per fight if their robot is stuck on the arena.

Camera test: Sony a6700 vs Samsung Galaxy S10e
มุมมอง 3.3K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
As with any combat robot, safety is the most important consideration. For this test, I set up a wide wooden barrier between me and the robot, cutting off my side of the room completely. A simple camera test, featuring my 1lb combat robot "Cheesecake". I've been filming all my tournaments using my phone (Samsung Galaxy S10e), and recording in 4K resolution at 60 fps so I can zoom in in my editor...

Cheesecake vs Hypnovision: Exhibition Fight
มุมมอง 19K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
Cheesecake wasn't ready for the next tournament in December, but we still got one good fight against a new robot called Hypnovision! I didn't bring my anti-undercutter attachment (the cake slice) because I didn't expect to fight an undercutter, so whatever happens, happens. www.robotcombatevents.com/groups/1116/resources/8229 0:00 - Overview 1:08 - Cheesecake vs Hypnovision 4:05 - Damage

Cheesecake is a great name for a little bot.
youve been using the same receiver across both bots this whole time?????
finally SOLDERING!!! been waiting for that change for so long
I would love to see a video in which you give tips for what type of stuff to use to build a small battle bot, or the best/cheapest resources
I'm excited to fight Cheesecake in the future. Unfortunately, Bigfoot likely needs work before it returns
That goblin design is so fun
Awesome stuff, thanks for sharing
I noticed that during the fight with Spinarooni, your weapon was spinning in the opposite direction to theirs, which reduced the impact of your hits. However, in the fight with Nor’Easter, both weapons were spinning in the same direction, allowing your weapon to make stronger contact and bite into their armor more effectively. If you could adjust the spin direction of your weapon mid-battle, it could catch opponents by surprise and potentially offer a better angle to chew on wheels. I also noticed that you've gained a lot more space inside your robot since soldering the connections. It looks like you could potentially move the weapon motor closer to the wheels, almost right up to the wheel drive motors. This shift would bring the center of mass closer to the wheels, which could improve agility.
Hmm... I think you're right on both counts. I'm going to buy a new transmitter which should allow me to quickly change my weapon's spin direction, and I probably could make Cheesecake more compact now that I'm not using Wago lever nuts anymore. Heck, I should probably go get a dual brushed ESC for my drive motors instead of using two separate Fingertech ones now that they're all soldered together anyway.
Yaaaaay, another loss to a "control bot" that wins simply by existing. I can't belive the organizers are enabling this. Might as well just build an armored square and trunk towards the enemy getting free wins... Soooo boring, making me uninterested to keep watching tbh
A great fight is still a win.
Thank you, you knocked it out of the park👊
God I hate these crap control bots and judges overscoring then, gotta love getting wins by just existing. Somebody should just make a tiny box with only armor and a drive and start just running towards the opponent. Easy wins...
I think if you have the weight to spare try making the spinner heavier as it will have more kinetic energy.
Man, it amazes me that after all this time they still can't figure out a decent floor to fight on...
No way cheesecake didn't win that last fight! Like, pushbots on an arena like this with no hazards can only win by arbitrary measures, what does a pin actually accomplish? It feels so cheap that they can put all their weight into armor and then all they need to do is ram the other bot into the wall a few times... It's like somebody could win a boxing match because they were able to "hug"/grapple the opponent to stop him from hitting you.
the tombstone of tiny robots
Hi Alex’s thanks for the video I’m trying to do hydroponic growing tower do you think this 3 step process will work for my materials water will go through them and thanks for the video it is really great video
Oh well that should be easy! All you need to do is seal your parts, which can be done with vapor smoothing (ABS or ASA with acetone, HIPS with acetone or limonene, or even Polysmooth with alcohol), or just by spraying on silicone or any other waterproof coating.
Thanks for the explanation great video I subscribed to your channel 🫡
Cheese Cake is so destructive 🍰🍰🍰
It being too slick it’s just not ok .. having grip and traction is required this is not an ice skating ring
i feel bad for the kid driving shotgun
Can you provide the dimensions of the bot and weapon or cad files.
I wanted to get into the ant weight competitions but then I saw includes cheesecake and I realise I would be cooked
Well don't worry, I recently moved to the Midwest, so now you only have to regularly fight Dulce de Lucha, Shin Kicker, and Repment ;)
I love how you and Dobby's driver agreed to put on a show at the end there. It was really sportsmanlike to deliberately go W2W when it lost a wheel early, made for a really entertaining fight! Big props
Talk about a Robbery
What material is the sweet tooth made of? It looks more like the length/shape of Humu’s forks was preventing you from getting under them.
It's made of 1075 Spring Steel from SendCutSend.
MORE CHEESE CAKE
I love cheese cake
Great wee robot, good insights and entertaining fights. That little guy hits like a truck. Keep it up!
Those type of nerds suck 7:09 (the food in the background)
I love cheesecake. I could watch these videos for hours
You said cheddar goblin moves around in a cool way and you proceed to flip him so fast we don’t even see…
Cheesecakes is out of he’s prime
HIPS printed parts are only stable up tp 85°C, so no hot food, not hot drinks, no dishwasher ... which makes it rather impractible 😢
is cheesecake meant to operate the same way even if it flips?
Cheesecake is dangerous but tasty😂
it strikes me as a hyperactive lawnmower
i love your videos, and wanted to ask... can you try and make a vert spinner bot please 🙏
I actually have an idea for a unique vertical drum spinner, it'll just require some clever power transmission
Cheesecake never dies
Hey, I don't know if you've explored PPACF printing material. Bamboo Labs has a new one that looks really good for a lot of combat robot applications. The rigidity/shore hardness appears similar to a very hard rubber like a car tire. It's nylon fiber reinforced, they boast "metal-like strength". This video shows it in use for about 2.5 minutes from timestamp: th-cam.com/video/RzFl3H5293M/w-d-xo.html and again at: th-cam.com/video/RzFl3H5293M/w-d-xo.html
My son wants to battle you with his bot! You can say "Yes" or "No" if you can!
Yeah that would be fun! I'm currently moving back to the Chicago area though, and I'm not sure when my next tournament will be.
i got goosebumps when i saw temper on my screen
