For not having a very large audience, you keep up with uploads on a regular basis for the style of content really well, and the balance between technical explanations and fighting action is perfect. I really hope to see you gain some traction and popularity on TH-cam, because this is epic. Its really a testament to Cheesecake that it could be basically ripped into pieces, and still have drive, even if the next hit knocked his battery out. I love seeing how he has developed over time, and even built rivalries and specific modifications for different bots. I really love these videos, they bring a smile to my face, and some of the fights are really close. Watching cheesecake essentially explode and carry on fighting had me shocked. Even with a wheel down, his drive seems excellent and you did exceedingly well in maintaining controlled movements.

I'm incredibly impressed with how tough Cheesecake is. Typically the tougher a bot is, the less damage it's capable of doing (and vice versa) just due to the weight restrictions. But somehow you managed to build a bot that is both incredibly destructive and surprisingly resilient at the same time.
@@Br0ck3nRealitiesTombstone was actually the very first combat robot I ever saw. I was channel flipping and turned to the Discovery Channel just in time to see a demonstration video of that thing pulverizing a cinder block.

I really appreciate your narration and explanations! I know in my heart, I love robot battles… Buuut when I watch them I often feel like I don’t understand enough about the strengths, weaknesses and strategies involved to be able to fully engage with the action. In this video you addressed all of that and I absolutely loved it!!! Thank you!
I really like the Cake Slice, the idea I had that you may consider is that the Cake Slice can be reversible so it can be either on the bottom for your original intention but also reversed and then flipped and equipped on the top to turn into a Cheese Helmet, if you had two of them, one on the top(most likely with a spacer equipped), one on the bottom, you could really protect your motor from the bigger undercutters for a longer duration. Just a thought. Let me know what you think!
If I'm understanding you correctly, I think that is something I wanted to try! I'll need to redesign the chassis to find some spare weight, but having one Cake Slice on each side (top and bottom) would basically create a big shield with a weapon sticking out of it. Come at me, bros!
I have to agree- I think if you put a heavier "armor shield" over the front like that, it'll be much more durable from the front@@alexsalchemy it seems to me if you were to sacrifice armor in other areas for a solid defense on front, if you could keep your front facing the enemy, you could mount heavier armor in comparison to your opponents-
I think he also meant that you could put the cake slice on the top as top armour? for robots like temper I’m guessing. And then also two could be a option if you got inverted I guess.
@@alexsalchemy It would also help with keeping the front of your bot on the floor during exchanges since you'd be removing weight from the back and adding it to the front. Since the center of gravity moves forward towards the weapon it would become more stable but you'd also have to worry about facing attacks head-on since there'd be less armor anywhere else. At least, that's what I think applying what I already know from building crappy vehicles on Roblox building games; I know nothing about actual robots.
Maybe you could jusr redesign the front to make Cheescake an undercutter and then you take the titanium wedge and ue it to shield the spin motor on the front. Great Job!
That design goes all the way back to the very first version of Cheesecake! I saw so many other antweight robots with direct-mounted weapons getting killed, so I figured there had to be some way to shock mount a weapon while still direct-driving it to save weight.
@@alexsalchemy I actually developed some turbomachinery seals out of 3d printed (slm) inconel. They used basically the same spring design. Just super cool to see :). I'm wondering how well this would translate to a battlebots sized weapon. Would be fun to stick accelerometers everywhere and test the shock loads.
Im surprised you chose countersunk CF, does it not cause structural weakness in the carbon fiber? I have had issues with it in my beetleweight for this reason
Yeah, you can see that in my final fight, and in my subsequent teardown video. The next version will still use countersunk screws to be safe from undercutters, but I've moved the screw holes farther inward to leave more CF material between the holes and the perimeter of the CF plates. If that don't work... well then, I'll do something else.
I think it's more detrimental at higher weight classes, but yeah you can design around it if you inset them or countersink near areas that would not interrupt longer strands.
Do you think you would change your drive to the jitter feet so you can have 50% more weight? Seems if them things are allowed in the antweight, they will quickly take over
These videos are so much fun! Thank you so much for making them. I didn't even know there were weight restricted robot wars but with all the CAD and 3D-printing these days it makes so much sense. I love competitions where designers are so free to realise their ideas! Two things I'd like to share 1: Shufflers are OP. Designers have shown to be able to create shuffle mechanisms almost equally capable to wheeled set-ups, this means the weight advantage shufflers enjoy is no longer offset by a lack of mobility and should be removed. 2: I think that through iterative improvement (the best kind of improvement) you've arrived at a brilliant design for Cheesecake. Maybe there are some improvements possible design wise, but the law of diminishing returns applies. That's why I think the biggest gains in terms of combat effectiveness available to you right now come from increasing the controllability of Cheesecake. You are experienced at controlling her but still her movements looks skittish and hard to control. Maybe you could increase the smoothness with which the motors react to your inputs so you can more precisely control her movement and weapon. I literally learned about this entire sport yesterday so please take my word with a ton of salt, and to anyone reading my ramblings this far: Thanks!
Congrats on the epic tournament run and having built a little beast of a robot. But my god Mudskipper is a behemoth. This is a great video, really making me reconsider how I approach my own event recaps. Mid-fight commentary really cuts down on the video runtime and is super insignful!
I'm not sure how I feel about shufflers getting a 50% weight bonus. Maybe a smaller bonus is applicable(15? 25?), but at 50% those hits don't seem balanced even at the trade off of a more vulnerable drive train. Didn't Battlebots remove the weight bonus for shufflers for this reason?
The SPARC rules I showed on screen haven't been updated since 2019, and apparently they are now being reviewed for possible changes. On one hand, I agree that shufflers might be overpowered, but on the other hand, I wouldn't necessarily change the rules just because some people are "winning too much" or whatever. It's tough.
Also, shout out to the great sportsmanship you show. Even when you beat an opponent you highlight their build and even show other victories they had, just awesome man.

That was awesome. A really great fight to watch. Thank you When I saw the Cheese Slice, my first worry about it was that it would transfer the energy from the competing bot's weapon into Cheesecake's drive motor mounting screws and either shear them off or break the frame

Honestly, the Viper kit from Fingertech is a great place to start, even if you just use its electronics and build your own mechanical parts around them (that's what I did for the first version of Cheesecake). Some full body spinners you can look at in the antweight class are Hypnovision and A-Minus. th-cam.com/video/haUqEJGPH14/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cEwHYinoAKFXlziF
What an amazing introduction to cheesecake's tournament. An epic journey with a unpredicted ending. Very well put together by you, a truly gifted builder and extremely good sports person. No sore losers, just exceptional ambassadors to this growing technical "sport". Thank you
17:32 What do you think, wouldn't him spinning the saw the opposite direction make this issue disappear? Spinning inward sucks any torn off bits toward the arm, the opposite direction, it would tend to launch them away, and for it to get jammed, it would have to stick to the saw for like 3/4 of a rotation, no?
Yes, but many people don't bother going through the steps to have their weapons spin in both directions, including me. For someone like Temper, maybe they should.
@@alexsalchemy I didn't mean make it reversible, I meant just have it spin in the OPPOSITE direction. So things grabbed by the teeth are flung out, not sucked in.
@@Nevir202 - Ah, I see... that would be interesting. It might not get as much bite, because it's "punching" rather than "hugging" the enemy robot, but it would definitely be interesting to see Temper try it!
@@alexsalchemy Ya, I see what you mean, but I'd rather a less powerful weapon that doesn't break itself than one that's as likely to break itself as the enemy lol.
man Cheesecake is like the Sherman tank of tiny robots. Its simple, sturdy, fairy powerful and capable of taking numerous upgrades and adapting to many situations. All in all, a great design!
Would it be possible to use small diameter titanium rods as a kind-of 'cage' to protect vital components in the future ? The last bot I made utilized a reinforced interior cavity, but unfortunately I was not able to use very much higher strength armor protection overall :(
great video it was fun pitting by you at this event. im sad that impulse wasn't spinning up properly that could have been a way more brutal fight great job at this event Cheesecake was brutal
Cheesecake is well designed for sure, but many of those victories rely on your driving skills that allow precise attacks on your opponents sides and wheels. Well done! I really enjoyed the battles and the background information about your approach and thought process.
Just found your channel, really interesting! Please keep these videos coming! Any chance of a more in depth build video before cheesecake goes in for another bout?
i'm living for the little victory dances after every win. that last battle was BRUTAL but cheesecake fought hard and kept going even when half of him was gone :)
Cheesecake going undefeated until facing that monstrous weapon of Mudskipper is extremely impressive. Great piloting skills vs Temper too, pulled that win out of sheer skill. Can't wait to see your counter to Mudskipper because that bot is terrifying, I think your your strategy of hitting one of its shufflers is the best bet, especially if you can lower your weapon to sweep under those pylons and take its shufflers out in one hit. Excellent sportsmanship on both sides gifting eachother your weapons as a trophy and great plays going so far.
If there now are 2 people with fast shufflers, will the rules be changed? If the increase in weight is supposed to be accompanied by a lack in mobility it feels a bit cheaty that they are now able to move so fast while still being bigger. I mean, probs to the guys who figured out to work around the shuffler issues, but for the competition as a whole it might be better to move these heavy shuffler bots to a new category. Otherwise all other manufacturers will have to switch to 1.5lb shufflers too.
It's a difficult question. On the one hand, I don't want the rules to change just because a few people are "winning too much" or because one strategy just so happens to be working at the moment. On the other hand, shufflers have their own special rules in the first place because... well, they weren't really viable in the past without that weight bonus, so I could see a rule change as just being a course correction to this already special circumstance.
That Cheesecake vs. Mudskipper was AWESOME! awesome as in looks, im sorry for your loss. Ive been watching for a singular day. This is my third video, and i love them! Cheesecake needs a brother though. I dont got a name, lol

Incredible breakdowns, context, and fighting going on here. I can't wait for the next one
Go cheesecake!
This channel feels way bigger than it is. I keep looking down expecting cheesecake themed merch!
Poison cheesecake, we all knew when temper took a bite out of cheesecake
The way cheesecake took the win against temper wile beeing wounded like tis is amazing. And I really enjoy the comentary on your adaptive parts.
Awesome fights! Have you thought of designing some kind of limp mode for when a wheel is disabled? Possibly using variable weapon rotation?
man Cheesecake is like the Sherman tank of tiny robots. Its simple, sturdy, fairy powerful and capable of taking numerous upgrades and adapting to many situations. All in all, a great design!
Would it be possible to use small diameter titanium rods as a kind-of 'cage' to protect vital components in the future ?
The last bot I made utilized a reinforced interior cavity, but unfortunately I was not able to use very much higher strength armor protection overall :(
I want to do this so bad now but I'm still in school, on a bike team, and have no idea on where to start building one of these night terrors.
Thank you . Great upload and tournament.
great video it was fun pitting by you at this event.
im sad that impulse wasn't spinning up properly that could have been a way more brutal fight
great job at this event Cheesecake was brutal
You should use a polarizer filter on your camera to fight against reflection.
Cheesecake is well designed for sure, but many of those victories rely on your driving skills that allow precise attacks on your opponents sides and wheels. Well done! I really enjoyed the battles and the background information about your approach and thought process.
I love the cheesecake arc. And so fun that you keep the names of his tools consistent with the dessert theme 😂
Have you tried printing with Taulman Bridge or 910? That is the toughest printable material I have ever encountered.
Amazing video, respect to your bot and your skills !
Didn't realize Antweight was this fun~ Cheesecake is a great lil bot, can't wait to see more of him!
I love how you learn from your opponents, see what worked for them and innovate on it.
Just found your channel, really interesting!
Please keep these videos coming!
Any chance of a more in depth build video before cheesecake goes in for another bout?
Skipper was one heck of a beast! You did fantastic!
Cheesecake is a little tank! Great fights vs Super Space Turtle and Mudskipper, thanks for the awesome recap video.
do you know where exactly the first critical breakage happened? the frontal weapon explosion?
Cheesecake is a little beast! That weapon of yours is devastating when it gets a good bite into any material really. Awesome fights!
i'm living for the little victory dances after every win. that last battle was BRUTAL but cheesecake fought hard and kept going even when half of him was gone :)
Im loving all of the upgrades that you add for each event! It really shows how dedicated you are to combat robotics.
#wheelsaretasty
truly amazing fights, when cheesecake keept fighting through the weapon loss, i imagined it yelling "TO VALHALLA"
Otherwise all other manufacturers will have to switch to 1.5lb shufflers too.
exactly
It's a difficult question. On the one hand, I don't want the rules to change just because a few people are "winning too much" or because one strategy just so happens to be working at the moment. On the other hand, shufflers have their own special rules in the first place because... well, they weren't really viable in the past without that weight bonus, so I could see a rule change as just being a course correction to this already special circumstance.
Wow that final fight was something else, i loved how Cheese Cake took some heavy hits but continued moving!
Any thoughts on designing a shuffler?
Great watch excellent pacing.
That Cheesecake vs. Mudskipper was AWESOME! awesome as in looks, im sorry for your loss.
Ive been watching for a singular day. This is my third video, and i love them!
Cheesecake needs a brother though.
I dont got a name, lol
You can use a polarisation filter for your camera to remove the reflections from the plexiglass next time. :D
My next fight was against OH GOD 😂😂 this video was great!
Appreciate you mentioning the 10 second pin rule explicitly in this, as I was the guy confused by it in your prior video lol.
Yeah, I realized that it was not very clear.
Loving this series! You make me want to build a bot of my own!
